Congrats on the win! Out of curiosity, how was Null Rod for you? Ik the lines to play through it generally, but most of mine use Fireweaver. Do you just get rid of it with like Spine/Engineer/Welder before going for the win?
@katzallergy
@katzallergy 4 ай бұрын
@@baconsir1159 Null rod is extremely powerful, can't imagine playing the deck without it tbh (unless you are on pure turbo). It's really good with taxing effects like GPS, and a lot of decks just lose to it with blood moon out. Just need to be careful not to lock yourself out of recasting Magda if she dies. And yeah you hasty welder, spine, or draw into a shatter effect to get rid of it.

I seen the decklist the other day and 1 loved the name and 2 really made me start contemplating building that over tymna tana as my 2nd cedh deck! I'm curious tho about what you think the strengths and weaknesses of the deck are
@carmenhazard8492
@carmenhazard8492 4 ай бұрын
@connor4722 hey! so i really love this list now, but im also a cedh player who really hates playing without blue. honestly the pairing of malcolm tymna makes you feel super safe with any hand that can play an early malcolm, so i think thats the biggest strength. when your commanders make mana and draw cards, you can take hands that are fully commited to one thing. as for weakness, the biggest is probably winning quickly. its bot a huge issue, but its a slower style of deck so it doesnt put wins out quickly, and sometimes loses because it was just a turn slower than another deck
@connor4722
@connor4722 4 ай бұрын
@carmenhazard8492 thank you for explaining and I can definitely relate, in casual I'm definitely dimir or esper hands down but I'm also relatively new starting magic all together in lost Caverns of ixilan. I started playing cedh trying something fringe with aminatou and switched my main deck (currently) to being urza. I've just been on the hunt to something closer to the meta for another cedh deck and this list felt like what I've been looking for being esper, has tymna, and not just card advantage but mana advantage in the command zone is just a huge bonus in my mind. I love what you've done with it and can't wait to see what else you do. Thank you so much for putting it together and answering my questions!

58:46 Hey y'all thanks for putting on the tournament, it was a ton of fun! I was the Talion player in Dylan's Round 5 game. I did wind up winning after Cephalid Coliseum-ing Dylan's Thoracle; I had a Bloodchief Ascension on 2 at the start of that turn from Dylan and was down to 1 life at the time of the Thoracle attempt, so after knocking him out and the turn passed to the Elsha player with Bloodchief online, I was able to come back by the skin of my teeth. It was an absolute pleasure playing with y'all!

This is correct. I was the Elsha player and I had one final big turn where I was a 1 life with Tallion on 2 and active Bloodchief Ascension in play where I actually was able to cast quite a few spells off the library with Elsha and Birgi in an attempt to find Top and piece together a win with lethal Tallion/Bloodchief Ascension triggers on the stack. I did brick in the end though, and naturally Enlightened Tutor was one card further down.

Yea Tyler I (Ryan) was Cam's Round 4 Tivit opponent. The Archivist trigger that got me the Force of Negation was the Trigger from either when Cam Mystical Tutored for Borne Upon a Wind or an Intuition that Blue Farm cast to go get Dress Down in an effort to shut down all of cam's lines plus Tivit's ability to make treasures and stop me from getting any more turns. The 20 minute stack battle that happened over Borne happened on top of my Archivist trigger lol. Ironically had that Trigger just been resolved earlier I would have drawn dead. Cam Brain Freezed me for 12 during the stack battle to fuel his Dauthi pile with more interaction. The Force ended up on top post Brain Freeze, so really Cam should have just let me draw then his Brain Freeze would have gotten my Force of Negation. Once Cam died to his Consult I was left with 2 artifacts and no Tivit abilities, but I had Mox Diamond, Esper Sentinel, and Wishclaw in hand, so I sacrificed those three plus the two I had with Wishclaw tutor on the stack for a Touch the Spirit Realm to get another turn without the dress down and Touch + combat on that turn was enough artifacts to kill Shorikai and Blue Farm. As for our Semis pod, fun fact. I got the Vanishing Verse off the Lim-Dul's I fired off on the end of Stella's turn. Me threatening to shoot it on Stella's end step was a bluff to try and get you to do the same hand reveal deal so I'd have more information. It wasn't in my hand until I drew for turn. Dalton tapped the Ring in my upkeep before I got to draw my answer for Sphinx so I literally could not stop you from drawing 6 on my turn. I knew I was safe to clone/shoot sphinx since you showed me your hand before you got a fresh hand off the one ring tap, but post One Ring I didn't think I was going to be able to push through the VV on my own turn. I saw the Gilded Drake into steal Sphinx line, I didn't go for it because I was afraid of getting Spellskited just like Dalton's attempt. I didn't fire off the Vanishing Verse on my turn because my only way to back it up was Force of Negation, which is only free on your turn but I needed at least one more draw to get blue cards to pitch. I just assumed nobody else had any responses since they had been doing nothing. I didn't know your list well enough but what I should have done was either just fire off the VV after my first set of draws and hope you didn't get enough interaction or just said fuck it, not VV'd and bank of the fact that I run more interaction then you do and been as greedy as possible and just not stopped the draw chain drawing as much of my deck until you stopped. Overall I got absolutely fucked by Dalton's attempt to force me to answer Sphinx by using ring in my upkeep. Overall great tournament and was an absolute pleasure playing with you both. Hope I get to jam games with Dylan next time too.

36:50 Defense Grid won me alot of games, and it's mainly "that card" that you use specifically because you can't play counterspells. And making it a generic "Tithe Taker" but opponents pay 3 instead of 1 would be interesting, i feel it would have to be an artifact creature and WotC would probably make it only 2 tax and require white mana which defeats the purpose of why Defense Grid is played. However, There's Wandering Archaic but hardly anyone plays it because it's five CMC. 1:11:40 can we all agree that Competitive Commander is an oxymoron? it's meant to be a casual format, and it's difficult to "be number one" when you have three or four opponents.

Most likely because, if a win was 3 points, an intentional draw would hand out more points (1 per player, aka 4 total) than a win. That could easily be an argument to make a win 5-6 points, even.

You're competing for top 16 to be in the finals bracket, getting the points to meet again in top 16 is better than brawling it out in matches hoping for points. If everyone draws that's an additional point with no loss which makes your stats look better Also it can feel like a win if youre able to convince the other mages to agree with you on a decision

I've got like 4 paper cedh decks. How much money do I have to pay to have a cam game? I need to buy a cam too but I will, total noob lol but I've playing Magic since Tempest block. I have a sweet New Zealand accent, loads of crazy stories from my youth that are far too offensive for KZbin and I have an awesome sob story, Home Makeover Style: My missus of 5 years got pregant last year with twins, one with severe health issues, we had to have a reduction in the womb to save the other twin. He had to stay in the womb to not abort her, so they were both born together, dead twin and live twin. So my missus had a real hard time with the live twin, we had no family support she had 4 hours sleep a night. She wouldnt let me touch her and we hadnt had sex in over 11 months. So I put pressure on her for at least some sort of physical relationship like cuddles (hindsight huh) and she lost it and moved out with our 3 year old son and 3 month old daughter. 7 weeks later and $6,000 in lawyers fees still havent seen them. I kept messaging and ringing to try see them, I've seen my son everyday of his life until she left, very involved dad and nothing. She put a restraining order on me for the repeated messaging and ringing - that counts as violence in NZ law. Have to attend a family violence course, cant try to contact her. I have zero rights it seems and may never see my children again and the woman I love more than anything, I was with her for the births of my children is probably gone forever and seems to hate me.

Magda has been lowkey ripping it up this whole year. The key is to not fall for the dragons line. Also, Mycosynth Lattice, Vandalblast and Karn are great in this deck.

Considering the drawing conversations it doesn't sound like a legit competitive tournament.
