Rhystic for sure, every deck runs it

In cedh, I think Thoracle would be more interested. Playing mostly casual commander, I would want Rhystic out.

I'm voting Rhystic; Thoracle is obviously a super efficient win-con, but it's not like there aren't plenty of other two-card combo kills in the format. Rhystic, on the other hand, makes it so easy to run away with games and takes almost zero effort to snowball with.

Ban neither? Can that be an option?

Thassa. My study almost always gets blown up, or I get ganged up on. It's not as bad as people think it is.

Ban rhystic

Rhystic is the more powerful card, so Rhystic. Thassa is only the finisher in combo lines and would just be replaced with the second most powerful. There's no replacing Rhystic.

Maybe you could hit some of the cheapest enablers, like consultation and pact? Idk, I've always found the 1 card "remove your library" effects to be egregious

I feel like a Thoracle ban would force new deck ideas while a Rhystic ban would just depower existing decks.

Oh this is so easy, Rhystic Study should have been banned along with Dockside and J-Lo. It's bad for casual, and terrible for cEDH (saying this as a guy who regularly goes down to 3 or 4 cards for Rhystic) since you either resolve Rhystic Study and win or lose on the spot to a Force of Negation. The only counter play to Rhystic is your own draw engine because 1 mana tax on every spell is somehow worse than giving your opponent a card every spell. In reality I would like both to be banned, I think Kenny should go back to his throne as the King of Lab Man and Jace decks but I don't mind Thoracle too much.

Sure banning thoracle would shake up the format a bit, but you're delusional if you think it would suddenly open up a hundred new different archetypes with their own wincon. People would just find the next busted thing, be it some persist combo or whatever, and there's a high chance the top decks remain the same since they're partners or 5c. If you want to really change the format ban rhystic, nothing is on that level really. A lot of decks wouldn't be able to find their wincons easily without stuff like rhystic.

Even from a more casual aspective, i think thassas oracle was needed. Labratory maniac and jace wielder of mysteries were a tad too janky. Not just because of the 3+ mana cost but even if you do draw/mill out with them, people can just force you to lose by removing them in response to the last draw. Requires too much setup. If thoracle gets banned, we need a new card that is able to hit a middle ground

neither, the format needs efficient wincons and banning oracle means it’s okay to ban the only good alternate wincons in the game. And rhystic study is a great draw engine that only enables things, no reason to ban either.

Banning either one would be solid just because blue is too powerful atm.

A rhystic ban would open up room for more turbo decks to take over the meta as an opponent drawing cards off of their attempt to win can often lead to said opponent winning. A thassas ban would effectively alter the format drastically as that’s most decks main win condition. Quite like the banning of dockside did, many decks would become largely unplayable or have to alter their gameplan and deck building drastically

I'd rather players be responsible and run enough interaction like Trickbind, Tishana's, Dress Down, REB, etc. and not ban Thoracle. Also... counter, destroy, steal or pay the 1 takes care of Rhystic. No bans needed. Just "get gud" as they say 😉 I've been playing since 1994. Cards come and go, as answers get printed and slotted in

I’d rather Thassa’s oracle banned because from the non-cedh standpoint because these bans would affect us too. Thassa’s is just an instant win in a format with very little free spells and Rhystic study is something that can be tolerated and taken care of in any type of format.

I want to ban Rhystic but if you’re going to ban Rhystic you have to ban Tymna along with it. Otherwise Tymna becomes far and away the best commander.

Rhystic Study, if not for similar reasons as SDT in legacy. Too strong while also dragging the length of the game

Ban demonic consultation and thassa is fine. Just like lab maniac is fine but it was just as strong before thassas oracle came out and was cheaper. Demonic consultation is the real problem as you can just name a card you don’t even have and every other card that costs more to cast and does the same doesn’t reward you for that.

Rhystic for sure. Thoracle is uninteresting and pushed as an alt wincon, but rhystic study is somehow even more uninteresting and genuinely not balanced for 4 players.

Considering I've spent a drastically larger amount of time cursing the developers of Oracle and wishing for them to eternally stub their toes than Rhystic, I'd go with that. 😅
