Pine is almost as soft as Basil! The skrama looked like it was much more "accurate" to chop with.

For American viewers ‘Sleeper’ means railroad tie. You’re a trooper Pete. Since your RSI break, you’ve cut test S125v and Rex121. And now this chop test! Skrama was impressive!

If you consider the weight/chopping ratio the Skrama is in a league on it´s own. Actually surprised it did that well compared to the Rtak and khukri :)

Skrama for the win! That's about what I expected.

Same. I did a ton of research before I got my first chopper blade and everything I saw pointed to the skrama. It's in a league of it's own.

Love it. This video is still a little way off for me. I have several choppers, but haven't thought about good method to test them yet. Got a few ideas from this though. I need another hatchet though- yes this video made me realize I need to buy another knife.

Seax is the knife the "Saxon" people shared a name with, and it's pronounced the same way.

Good demonstration. Actually quite predictable results for folks having experience with these models; thus for me quite determinable based upon use of same to more or less similar tools. The Skrama delivers well above its load out mainly because it is precise biter, with great ergonomics, and an efficient cutter. Same goes for the small forest axe. When a person does not use an axe much... the Skrama provides greater accuracy, with fudge factor forgiveness, and less of the immediate fatigue sloppiness that can set in. Therefore time after time, the results will reflect to some degree similarities for so many from novice to expert.

Kinda looks like a joke using the forest axe with one hand. Guess it had to be on the same playing field somehow though.

Why didn't you use two hands for the axe? I won't get on you on form or technique, I was just curious.

I guess just cos all the others were one handed, I was in a pattern. Could probably wreck way more with two hands on the SFA

I have some experience with the outdoor axe from gransfors and feel that it is not well represented in this video. I dare to claim that a more skilled person would have had more similar outcomes with the outdoor axe and the small forest axe.

I have the Rockwell Jawhorse, which I think is practically the same tool. It's excellent for doing home projects. Interesting test. I'm more of a saw guy than a chopping guy. A ax works for tree stumps when needed.
@moparhemi17776 жыл бұрын
Great work pete! An interesting test would be how a medium sized knife (5" blade, 4-5mm stock, high to full flat grind) would stack up to these chops if batoned though. I wonder if Cliff Stamp is aware of these videos. He has made a lot of chopping tests comparing geometry, blade patterns and steels.
