Hi. Thanks for your review. I see that the brass ring is connected to the pack with only a little piece of leather. Did you had any problem with that? Can it hold the Summit Expedition full of gear without breaking? I mean between 18-30 pound with long walk. Thanks.

I used to carry and use a Duluth Pack wanderer on travels and hikes when I was in the military. I am from Minnesota and was homesick for a lot of that time. I loved that backpack and it felt good to carry something from home that was made in my home state. But after getting out of the military I picked up a more modern pack, a FILBE assault pack from a surplus store, and I haven't really gone back. I spent a summer in Utah doing more serious hikes and the modern pack with the padded back, hydration system port, and fastex buckles and zippers was just more comfortable and convenient. Now that I live in Minnesota again I don't really feel the need to carry that piece of home with me on all my adventures anymore. But I still love that pack and the other things from both Duluth Pack and Frost River. I have a Frost River adventure duffle for travels and a few others things from them as well. All excellent products. I want to buy another pack from Frost River but don't know if I would use it for serious hikes anymore. But I agree with you. They are amazing, high quality, cool looking products.

👍 Excellent comparison between vintage and modern. Excellent food for thought as I seek a new medium sized pack. Than you!

Can you please write the name of the pack you are comparing it too, so I can find it, I cant understand what you said the name is, your accent is making it hard to understand for me : Whisper Wood Craft Pack?

Gear consists on a continuum. Price, weight, and durability all act on each other and we're all looking for different things that's why there is no one best piece of gear for everything. You just need to determine what's best for you in your situation and find something with the best combination of features for you.

I have been going back a forth for months on purchasing a Frost River Isle Royale or a Karrimor sf 75. They are both great packs but the Karrimor has modern materials and a better carry system. Thanks so much for the video and all your videos love watching them.

What a relief, it’s not just me that’s baffled by the design of these otherwise beautiful packs.

My only complaint about my 5.11 Rush 12 was that the front pocket didn't detach, and I started deconstructing it to make exactly that... and then they announced that product at SHOT, "for women."

I appreciate your perspective; however, you would never take a Ferrari to the real deep woods? The difference to me is comparing a four wheel drive jeep to a Ferrari. The Ferrari is for city boys. I have the Frost River Royale pack as well as the equivalent Duluth Pathfinder model. I also have the Duluth Scout and the Wanderer packs. I hunt and fish in the deep east Texas Thicket. It is not very forgiving or kind on equipment. The Frost River and Duluth packs are bomb proof. As you have said," they will outlive me ". The Frost River and Duluth packs may not be rocket science, but for those who walk trails, a plastic grocery bag will work, but or those who break trails, the Frost River and Duluth packs are not equaled.
