Actor and filmmaker Cedric Gegel reacts to Dimash's "Know" Music Video!
The poetic symmetry of the vocals, orchestration, choreography, and cinematography was extraordinary. The actual vocals were even more so.

That was everything I hoped for! You saw things I’ve never noticed, interpreted things I’ve found baffling and were as blown away as I could have wanted. Thank you so very, very much for doing this MV. I pushed for you to do this one both because I knew I’d see it with new eyes, and because I believed it would hit deep and resonate for you. And it did! Dimash does have a habit of forcing other performers to reevaluate their skill set and life choices… Luckily he’s so obviously stratospherically above the rest of the planet that one has to just pick their jaw from the floor, philosophically accept he exists, and continue. The world needs all kinds of performers. If each is inspired by Dimash to push their own boundaries even a little, the whole world will benefit. Really, thank you for persevering and finishing this today. I can’t tell you how much it’s appreciated. I hope you also think it was worth it ❤️

I remember that Dimash praised the director of this clip and he really liked working with him. I think they have a common vision, but some fans from the very beginning didn't accept this clip and it seemed too gloomy. I, on the contrary, really like Dimash's music video and its message. After a certain amount of time I notice more and more different interesting details and nuances. Thank you for the informative wonderful reaction. You are very interesting to listen to. Have a nice day 💕😉

The video can be seen without it on Dimash platform (and please all, go there and give him views and credits as well!) This song is very soothing to me in its fully vocalised version which Dimash sings on tour. I enjoy your reaction to the video and are learning by it too. Thanks for sharing! 🌼

Hi Cedric. The location they used was Iceland. It has black sand beaches that are of volcanic origin, and in summer it has 24-hour days with very long sunsets, ideal for obtaining this particular type of "golden hour" lighting. It is another world!

This director also shot another Dimash mv, which also is absolutely visually stunning and it is called “Love of Tired Swans” where Dimash plays this red-clad, angel-wings-wearing swan/angel entity. It is absolutely stunning and my favorite mv of Dimash , so if you want to see more great cinematography (by the same director who directed this mv no less), then you should react to it next. Art is perspective, and the artist always sees reality from a dynamic perspective. One hair present or missing can make all the difference in the world. Dimash has lived his whole life in a prism, knowing what is before it is. To the observer, it is magic, to great artists it is destiny. Be it art, music, or acting, it is the difference between being good and being an Icon.
@paivyt.

Good insights! I agree. Artists have a special way of observing the world. It's indeed dynamic; they have an innate aspiration to reflect on what they see, build meanings, and create a form for it (making it shared with others). I think Dimash has always been very deep and reflective person. I saw an old video, where Dimash was interviewed in a local radio in 2006. He was there with an older student as "promising youth of Kazakhstan". If only they knew:):) He was asked, what is art. It's quite a big question for a 12 year. Dimash answered: "I think art is kind of image that shows how deep person's inner world is, it is spiritual richness." Indeed it is.

It is so interesting, how every person has their own way of understanding the meaning of a song and/or music video. And I think they are all right. To me, this video is about a man and a woman being born, growing, living their lives, meeting, struggling with personal insecurities, needing each other, feeling resentment, loving, etc. as has happened for as long as there has been men and women. And always will. Before seeing this video, I was a little worried, whether it would be able to rise to the level of this song composed by Igor Krutoi and the vocal performance of Dimash, but it sure did. Filmed in Island, with those fantastic dancers and on top Dimash, makes it truly a high quality production. Absolutely amazing. The beginning is awesome. Please do react to Dimash performing this song in Sotshi (if I remember right?) and lastly, the vocalize performance from his Arnau tour where he sings the song without lyrics. And the band is just amazing, too. Here are the links: know new wave kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIa2p51uitt5gtE know vocalize kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3TFoadqbbChqrs

When you were talking about not knowing where one ends and the other begins, it comes to mind that love in this world creates such a melding of two that even sense of oneself transforms to where we must ironically, learn to sustain our unique self identity. However, when awareness enters the mystique of higher love, resonating with higher octaves of Love beyond our human form, the meaning of Self changes altogether to an immortal principle inclusive of all through which this ONE heart beats. And how rich it is through each human vessel, and how desperate to be unleashed, yet how masterfully it hones its power so as not to destroy the fragility of flesh and bone while we slowly learn to hold its immensity.. Thank you for your wellspring of insight, and your knowledge of the art and construct of good filmmaking. You set yourself apart from other reactors in this sense. Dimash would be pleased! Ha. 🕊🎶❤️🎶🕊

Hello dear Cedric. Thank You so much for Your honest reaction. The instrument that is playing from start to finish, it is called a DUDUK. This is a very old, over 3 thousand years old ARMENIAN folk instrument. This instrument is made from apricot three. God Father of playing this instrument is a man name Jivan Gasparian. This instrument became very popular after a movie Gladiator, where Russel Crow was playing. And Mr. Gasparian was playing in that movie. Now everyone is using Duduk on their movies etc. So each time you hear the sound of this instrument, You no the origin of it. I love listening to Your explanations, not only on Dimashes singing, but on everything. You no Your craft young man. Stay true to Your art and who You are dear Cedric. You have a very bright future ahead of You. Best off luck what ever You try. Hop see You soon.

The human voice at the beginning was of course Dimash's beautiful voice but played in reverse. The video shot on location in Iceland and also Tenerife in the Canary Islands, as both have volcanic black lava beaches. The bleakness of the Icelandic coast, Skogafosse Waterfall and the low summer sun is strikingly beautiful, the chromatones are perfect for this video and the message he is sending. A stunning video directed by Alan Badoev who also Directed Dimash's Love of Tired Swans Music Video💖 Here is a snippet about what was in Alan Badoevs mind for this video “An endless circle of relations between a MAN and a WOMAN - from birth, love, eating the sinful fruit and self-destruction. Igor Krutoy and Mikhail Gutseriev laid the idea of an eternal striving for absolute love, and Dimash endowed the souls of two lovers with voices.”

I love this MV. Thank you very much for reacting to this one, Cedric! Please react to KNOW VOCALISE ARNAU TOUR KYÏV, it's without any word, just Dimash his voice, it's hypnotizing and you will love it! Greetings and love from Belgium ❤🇧🇪🎶

Wow, I so LOVE your reaction and fantastic comments to this most beautiful MV, enjoyed it so much! Thank you! (Also what you said to Qairan Elim!) Every time it is a benefit to listen to your profound (and loving) explanation to Dimash and especially to his MVs. I love them so much and you are by far the best man on KZbin to react to them! The song Know is fantastic and you absolutely should react to one or two live performances, (one should be just vocalized), they are amazing! Know belongs to one of my all time favorites, the power, passion, drive, instrumentation, tension, .... (Well, and Dimash....) - so intense, just unmatched. ... Thank you and much love from Germany ❤️

That was a treat, Cedric. Most reactors choose the live version, white suit, no shirt, blue lady, or the vocalised one from his Arnau concert. Learned a couple of new things, thank you for that. Realised most of his videos contain references to the four elements. He loves to include dance, too. Maybe that is the thing to go for in Russian traditions in music videos. He uses it also at concerts. Maybe some of our Russian friends can enlighten us here. Would be appreciated.

I guess dancing can be chosen because of its artistic value, its beauty and how it can convey meanings in a symbolic way. It fits better to these kind of symbolic stories with fantasy element ('Know' and 'LOTS') than more straightforward realistic approach I think.

Always a pleasure to listen to your insightful comments and points of view! Now that you listened to this version, you should check the lyricless one, called Vocalise! He sings either this or the other one in his concerts, but with slight differences, according to his mood at that moment. The Vocalise allows him to improvise more,to make use of his outwordly musical arsenal.

Cedric watch the magnificent performance of Know on the New Wave 2019 in Sochi! Dimash performs this work (composer Igor Krutoy) at all concerts and always in different ways! There are also vocalizations that are not alike! Dimash An incredible artist! Thank you for your reaction!😁✌Cedric! Bravo! It was an incredibly interesting reaction! You reconciled me with this video, which from the very beginning was somehow not very to my liking. Gradually, with each repeated viewing, you understand something and see something in a new way. But today, you have supplemented with your vision of what is happening on the screen and deciphered a lot! Of course, every time, returning to this video, we see and take for ourselves something new, I think it should be so. Therefore, I thank you again!

I love this mv and song, and I really enjoyed your video - even with the power outage! The mv was filmed in Iceland, amazing landscapes and black sand! I felt for those dancers in the waterfall and on the sand! One of my - many - favourites from Dimash!

I keep returning to this reaction, and each time I watch it again I see something new.. (the clarinet sound, so primal, so gourgeous) .....man, woman, love, sin, eternity, the creation (6:10), the lifes dilemma, they getting out of the cave (to life) ( like the in the mith of the cave from plato in 14:53 and 14:57), they confronting the society (15:01).... love, sin and eternity at the entire mv and ending with they forming and infinity symbol... thanks cedric, you openned my eyes in this analysis, only a professional could do it. like Ive said before in another comment, this is art in its purest form, its an atemporal mv, I'm sure that even after 30 years I'll be watching this mv and none of its meaning will be lost
