Tsareena was a very forgettable mon for me initially. But I have fond memories of playing as Tsareena in Unite and she was such a monster in it. I used to love playing Unite because it make forgettable mons like Cram, Tsareena etc. so cool.

Joseph I must confide in you something. Please hear what I am about to gripe about and tell me your true thoughts: I don’t like the terasteliziation mechanic. I don’t like it for the following reason: Like you, Joseph, I enjoy looking at the big picture in all my battles. When I see a Team Preview, I think to myself “What do I need to weaken for ____ to sweep. Let’s see, there’s a Weezing, Avalugg, etc”, and then I would normally play my game around that way of thinking and try to weaken the team for my Mon to sweep. However, terastelization throws all that off. Because any mon can randomly change to any random type at any random point in the game, you can’t have a normal plan in your mind. It truly feels chaotic to play in this meta. And yeah, I know most mons have a “common” or “normal” Tera type, which isn’t even all that “common” cuz most of the Smogon sets for mons give at least 2 Tera types as the standard, not to mention the completely random types people do on their own, but even then, you don’t know which Mon will do it. You have to almost be walking around eggshells in all your games, ESPECIALLY when you think youre ready to sweep, because any mon can randomly change type. Imo the perfect gimmick we’ve had were mega evolutions. We obviously knew which pokemon would be able to mega, their types, their common sets, etc. you could play around it. When you see an ampharos on your opponents team you knew it was most likely mega. Anyways I’m rambling but yeah, Tera’s are a completely random X factor that mess up any semblance of a strategy you would’ve come up with in your head. I’m kinda tired right now so I’m not arguing this as good as I should be but I hope you understand what I’m saying and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

That's the fun about pokemon. There are just some thing you cannot predict cos there's so many rng and random sets enemy can bring. The X factor also applies to your own team as well so don't fret the enemy is worried too. All I want to say is, just enjoy the game and process. You lose some, you win some. :)

hey! thanks for giving your thoughts on tera and the generous donation, twice. I do think megas were better than tera but after playing this OU for 2+ years, I don't think it's completely random, for the same reason you posted about common tera types. Take the example of DPP OU, a metagame with 0 team preview so any pokemon could come out next. To people who only watch and don't play, it's seen as a variance tier. Oh man random pokemon in the back will beat me! but if you play DPP OU enough, you recognize patterns and can see ok you see these 2 steel types so it will most likely be dragonite in the back etc. That's how I see it anyway and i feel the same about tera. ye it could be xyz tera but if you play enough and understand team comps, it's easier to figure out which one it is. that's why a lot of times you'll see us call them out and be right. i just think it's something we gotta keep adapting 2. I think it's hard to say it messes up any semblance of strategy since the good players stay consistent

@@Monchan-l6h i find gen 8 an extremely boring OU. In terms of no gimmicks, gen 5 is fine. I think megas are cool, i absolutely hate z moves in gen 7 tho. my fav gen is dpp ou which has no gimmick but does have that randomness that I enjoy so i guess i do a bit? just some more than others
