I've been rock drumming for 45 years and let me tell you it takes stamina to rock out like that. Ian and Bill Ward of BS and of course Johnny B. of LZ were my idols. I spent many nights trying to copy their styles and when I got close cause you never really get it, I became a premier drummer. I'm 64 now and I doubt highly I could physically match what Ian is doing today. But if I lost a few pounds and practiced like I did when I was 15 to 21, I think I could pull it off if no one was looking. Love true rock and roll. And always remember this: ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE BUT IT'S ALWAYS BEEN A LITTLE BIT SICK!!

Dickinson is clearly overpowering anything Hughes is trying to do, and sounding so much better while doing that. But then, Dickinson is, and has been, a known and amazing vocalist/singer. Glenn, he's a great bass player, who has the ability of a high falsetto, and then ....back to the actually great singers. But let's give it up for Ian Paice KICKING ASS even in his older years! AWESOME!

no falsetto, all head voice. Glenn's still a beast after all the year of drug and alchohol abuse :))
@odiumpugnator4724 жыл бұрын
@@zexedearth89 Having a good and great falsetto is not a knock nor a bad thing. It is still part of singing. Falsetto still requires a unique ability, even though the high notes are not within the singer's natural/modal range. You can see that he is engaging falsetto physically when he is singing those high notes. And you can hear a natural high range vs falsetto when listening to Opera. A natural range, that high, doesn't require the level of straining that he needs to produce his falsetto. A natural high vocal is smoother and fuller, compared to Glenn's raspier and more shrill falsetto. Again, it's not a knock on his ability, and it works great, and often better fit Rock music.
@zexedearth894 жыл бұрын
@@odiumpugnator472 i dont know what are you on about mate haha. Nowhere did i say falsetto is bad. My point is...there is almost no falsetto used by Glenn in this video. All the high screams here are mostly head voice and verses are sung in mixed voice. With the exception of 5:34 where im not sure if he "cheated" during that glissando , transitioning from pure head high into more airy falsetto high. Really hard to tell. :)
