ABOUT:
The Gay Men's Brotherhood is a group for gay men to connect with each other on the journey of healing from shame and becoming more authentic and aligned to their truth.
The group aims to offer inspiration, support, connection, healing, and a safe place to show up just as you are.
Our vision for the members is to learn to feel more comfortable showing up vulnerably so deeper intimacy can be established in our community.
We dream of a gay community where everyone can feel more connected to one another in more ways than just sexual and we can feel less loneliness as a byproduct.

It's really comforting to know that even guys like you, who have a rich baggage of experience and knowledge of gay struggles, are still finding your way through this whole thing. Makes me understand that strong men are allowed to struggles as well. Thanks for the video, always soothing.

I intentionally put a pin on this episode to watch it this month, and it was absolutely worth it! I am very much like Calan and Michael, I love pride, and I let myself go and have fun. But beyond that, of course I think it is very important to celebrate love, that we are lucky enough to live in countries where can be ourselves. We have to remember everything our community has accomplished, but also what still needs to be done; so we must still make ourselves being heard, and still fight for so much more.

I fell in love with a man for the first time a couple years ago and at 55 well, back then I was 52? 53? But it was the best love I have ever felt ever ... and I've had a lot of relationships mostly hetero.. so when dude said that about falling in love with a man I could totally relate

As I've aged, I've kept finding point after point of what I call Gay Privilege. Some gays buy into the suggestion that the world would be a better place if nobody's attractions excluded anyone by group, but that would horrify me. Having possible connection only with a remarkably small pool has been the best thing that ever happened to me in so many ways. Matt's point about advantage was spot on. As Calan began his about intergenerational aspects, I thought of being in the gallery less than 35 years ago when a basic rights bill died in our state legislature on a tied vote, and then recalled Oscar Wilde on trial, where even when having to lie about his affection for younger men he managed to make the dynamic quite beautiful - and then the point went into shirtless dancing (which I'll defend for anyone of any degree of beauty but please don't ask me to watch)! We want to avoid the trap of letting homophobia being corralled into being treated as a subset of misogyny, which puts us at a bad disadvantage politically and lets the female strain of anti-gay sentiment off the hook completely. Maybe the pressures in Canada are different, but here in the US it often seems as if there's an effort to pathologize any efforts we make to embrace anything masculine in addition to the ongoing prejudices the other way. It doesn't make a personal difference to me now I'm past all that sort of carry-on but I often grieve for the rising generation.

Gay people have to do so much work just to accept themselves, then have to do more work just to BE in our society - then MORE work to have the same rights - then MORE work to endure the slights against our right to just live our life the same way our het friends. They don't even have to work! they just BE. I suppose Pride for me is a release of weight against suppression. I was fortunate to come out and accept myself in a city mostly safe and accepting of "the gay" (Orlando), but growing up during the start of AIDS and that judgmental/puritanical backlash really did a number on me while my sexuality was just bubbling and burgeoning. Growing up in the south with many bible-thumping TV shows, did another whammy...oh, and being raised Catholic. Lord help me!!! For me Pride is resistance, celebration and freedom to be me, as I am - just like my straight friends experience without needing to think about it.
