We used to come home from the mountains via Bryson City down through Murphy Ranger and Copper Hill. I worked for Wrangler too as well. Keep up the good work and ignore the haters.

Oh my gosh.... I am so sorry anybody ever said that to you. It breaks my heart to hear that some awful human had the nerve to say such a hateful and untrue thing. Tipper, I think you are absolutely beautiful, inside and out. And the kindness that exudes from your heart makes you stunning! I always say we live in such a beautiful world full of beautiful humans but sadly mean-spirited individuals also walk among us. I'll pray for that person, that God touches their heart and makes them lead with love and kindness. People who make mean comments are typicaly unhappy souls, likely very insecure and fighting some sort of demons. Keep your chin up and don't let any mean or hurtful words dampen your kind spirit and your gentle soul. Love & light. Lisa from Ohio

One of the things I appreciate about your channel is the community you've built in the comments section. Partly that's because you attract so many nice people, but it's also down to you doing the work to monitor the comments and delete the hateful, ugly ones. Some content creators don't do that and over time it sets the tone for their community. Nice people don't want to read things like that and don't want to post comments if they think they may get nasty remarks in return. Unfortunately, people slinging insults at each other means more comments, so I suspect some content creators leave them to generate more traffic. Asking what you would do if the Internet went away is like if someone would have asked me back in the olden days when I was a telephone operator, what I'd do if telephones went away. It's not going to happen. Or if it did, we'd be having way worse things to worry about than how we'd earn a living. But if we somehow just erased the Internet, I think you'd be doing the same things you're doing now, only in person. You'd be teaching classes in growing your own food, cooking, canning, preserving, and other Appalachian folkways. You'd be giving lectures on the language and culture of Appalachia. You'd be writing cookbooks, selling folk art, writing a newspaper column (because without the Internet, people would want print newspapers and magazines again). Your family would be making music around the area like the Wilson Brothers did. You would be better suited to a life without the Internet than 98% of the population. But your viewers who don't live nearby would miss you like crazy!

I love this channel, your accent, the Appalachian people. I’m so far from home, I subscribe to your channel and get a taste of home. I read the comments for “dessert “. I’ve been living in Mexico for 20 years, at first with my young son, but then he returned to the US for college, sigh. Your channel warms my heart . I was in Bryson City with my siblings and mother. We spent the summer there in the mountains to get away from the South Florida busy ness. We camped, swam in a local public pool, the river, learned macrame and sand painting. We climbed trees, I tasted crabapples from the tree for the first time. We caught lightning bugs, they filled the whole yard, as well as the mosquitoes. The best summer of my life. Maybe one day the Lord will bring me back to Appalachia. We were all born in TN, but Nantahala Gorge, oh my heart.

As a young girl I loved to watch three Soap Operas on TV: Edge of Night, As The World Turns, and Secret Storm. For those who have watched the Soaps, there would always be an ongoing mean, sometimes diabolical character that would wreak havoc on the lives of others. I remember thinking “no one can be so purposefully this hateful”. Wow was I wrong. As I aged and mingled with a variety of individuals I realized those TV meanies really did represent how some humans behave. Tipper, while I know from experience that ugly comments can be hurtful, you just keep moving onward and upward. You have done a wonderful job creating a VLOG that is appreciated by many of us.

Oh dear Tipper, you and your family are to be emulated, not criticized! I'm glad you don't take the negative comments to heart, of course its so much harder when your children are criticized. 😕 Funny about you spending a lot of time at Granny's, my Blue Ridge grandparents moved north before my mother was born, and lived out their days in PA. Granny became a widow at age 48 shortly after my parents got married. My earliest memories are of visiting Granny EVERY single night! Every night my parents piled us kids into the car and we spent some time at Granny's. We live next door to my mother, just like you do :) So the Appalachian traditions live on up North. :) Thank you for sharing so much with us.❤

I really appreciate this kind of video. You are amazing and such a fantastic way to handle questions/challenges/etc. Easy rule of thumb: never let someone have power over your emotions. In particular, random people you don't know. I grew up in a rural setting and my family never locked the doors, never expected people to call before visiting, etc. My wife, she came from the city and expects people to call before coming over, etc. Different cultures. My family had an open fridge rule (ie. if you are in the house you can access the fridge (unless you are a kid)) and you are considered family. I love that kind of culture personally. Thank you so much for the great content, great stories, and great episode.

Tipper, I've heard you say before, "hurt people, hurt people" and it's something I always try to remember. Anyone saying unkind things to you is really reflecting their own insecurities and it has nothing to do with you. I know you know that. You're a beautiful person inside and out. I started watching these videos because they remind me of my grandmother who was from Kingsport, TN even though I'm only a bit younger than you. I grew up in Tennessee and North Georgia so poor we couldn't afford electricity until 1963. Farming wasn't a lifestyle but survival. We were very close and still are 60 years later. I always heard when someone is talking about you that means someone else is getting a break. Seriously, only unhappy people spend time bringing others down. I sure hope those people never have to go through the situations they are talking ugly about. Today it is you, but tomorrow it could be me. I try to keep that in my heart. You and your family share so much and that puts y’all in a vulnerable spot. I know I probably share too much personal stuff on here, but I feel comfortable because y’all remind me of my family. I feel sorry for people that never had family like we do. You tell Katie that I love her. I am proud of her. What she is doing is not easy. You are soothing, calming, a wonderful story teller, and a devoted wife and mother! Don't let the ignorance of others dim your shine! Thank you for youtube material worth seeing, and for being a dear family that has captured the hearts of your viewers, especially mine. ❤️❤️

When I have a bad day at work, I watch your videos.. I grew up in Kentucky,so y'all seem like home folks. Thank you for your hard work.

Ms.Tipper, about the nasty comments. My Mom always said if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. And I can’t believe someone wondered why Matt was with you. He is a very handsome and funny guy, and you are a very pretty lady. There are just some people who are very unhappy with life or just plain miserable. Don’t ever let them bring you and your sweet spirit down. I love you and your whole family. Remind me so much of my family. GOD bless you all.

Tipper I just adore you, Matt, Granny and the Girls. I’m 65 and been widowed ( I’m a retired teacher). You all inspire me every week and I thank God for you All. I’m so sorry that you have had to deal with mean people. Honest to God. Demonic behavior of people. My tongue hurts to tell them something, but I’d be best to hold it. You and Matt are a Godly perfectly made couple. You’re beautiful ❤Your both blessed to have one another. Love ya’ll

Tipper, I found your channel during the pandemic. We were all working from home, worried about what might happen, and there you were talking about normal every day things. I instantly felt at home. Your videos bring me a sense of peace because they remind me of my upbringing. So thank you for sharing a little piece of your life! You truly are like family. 😊

Tipper your family is great, sorry about all the negative comments people leave. We were all raised differently and some just don’t understand the ways of others. You’re right you don’t have to explain your self. It really upsets me that someone would make negative comments about Katie and that sweet child. I’m sorry you have to hear that. God Bless your family!

Hello Tipper. Always lovely to see a video. I guess the problems are many with faulty aspersions from unreflecting difficult people. Difficult to believe. You know, practice of love of neighbor, I guess it does not spread too far, unfortunately. I have probably mentioned this before but I am not local but I have a strong love for the south. I live north of Michigan in Ontario. I was born in Finland and as a young boy spent my summers at my uncle's farm near the Russian border. What I love about your videos is that you return me back to the values that make me happiest, close to the land and away from the traffic of public noise. Best wishes to you and Matt and Corie and Katie. And also to all the loved ones.

Hey there, So glad you posted. My upbringing is Appalachia and Foot hills of Appalachia.. My coworkers always comment because I stay at my Mom and Dads when I work at NGMC.. I say no worries with my family we trust and love each other so much.. No need in driving an hour or longer when you can drive 20 minutes and be in bed ready for the next shift.. My kids are older and love when I land safe❤

I wish I had just a small piece of it in my family. Congratulations on becoming grandparents to your beautiful girls . Long may you continue ( you actually remind me of my mum, in a far as your brilliant recall brain, and the way you make it all so interesting) . It's so strange to me to hear that people don't understand the kids bein' always at your house!!! When I was comin'-up, there was a steady stream of people in and out of my geat-aunt's house, all day long---kin from all up the holler---the coffee was always, on!!! I loved it; it was a party, everyday!! Folks catchin'-up with each other, hearin' about a new foal, a cow stuck in a wicket, or trouble with somebody's tractor, or non-kin gossip.... It's a Southern thing!!! In major metropolitan areas, they, mostly, don't even know their neighbors, and that's sad to me---'course, some of 'em you might not want to know, but.... Love all y'all; love your channel !!! Blessings!!! ❤

I am so glad that I found your channel a little over a year ago. Both you and the girls are a regular watch for me. Being a transplant from out west to Eastern NC years ago, my dream is to one day live in the Mountains of NC. I was Katie, and God brought me my best friend and best father to my son. Long crazy story, but he was there from the day he was born. He is 16 now and the only grandchild on both sides. He is rotten....no, he is a great kid, but God knows our heart and knows our future. Love yall

I love how close y’all are, I wish I had a family like that growing up. It’s not for anyone/everyone to understand. My grown kids still live at home with me and I am glad they do. I raised them as a single-mom. With how expensive things are today we help each other and we all pitch in and pay the bills here. When they are ready they can leave the nest. Otherwise why? My mother who I am not close with always had a mindset of when you turn 18 you’re grown and you have to move out. I never felt like I had time to figure life out. I feel like I had to figure it all out on my own and while I went through it. I didn’t want to put my kids through that and feel like they never had time to figure things out and no one to help them understand things. You please don’t take those things to heart ppl can be so ignorant and mean about things they don’t understand and should just be quiet.

Listening to you talk about your home and day-to-day life is very soothing. I am one of those who visited Standing Indian Campground as a teenager with my family to escape the hot S. Florida weather. My parents retired to NC just over the GA line. I hear you talk about places they talked about the years they were able to enjoy that area and it takes me back there. You have a very balanced view of life and I’m glad that people from other countries and parts of this country get a glimpse of a real person and family. You represent our country well.

Well I’ve come to watching your videos recently. I actually talked to my Mother this morning and mentioned I had sent a text with different words/phrases we grow up saying from her side of the family. She loved the fact I was sharing it. She told me,“ If someone doesn’t appreciate the southern style and different dialect/word usage she considers them ,“ Sorry“. haha. She also said bad omen was upon them and soon enough they might be running sideways. Of course I just laughed. Roll tide for my Mother.
