“Decades of research” focuses mostly on boys and not on the inattentive type. This film raises awareness, but misses the complexities in how it presents in all genders.

It's good to see documentaries about adhd but there needs to be more since it presents so differently for people. I think if there was a documentary focused on women who weren't diagnosed until much later in life, which is such a huge problem right now, she wouldn't sound so ableist. Of course it's going to look like a "superpower" if you focus only on celebrities.
@melissap9416 Жыл бұрын
It is a superpower if you focus it on something positive. Like a hobby or goal. You’d be surprised what you can accomplish if you put your ADHD brain to work. I got so ahead in my business because I don’t know anyone else that can sew for 7 hours straight without taking a break and love every second of it. That’s the adhd superpower she’s talking about. That’s why a lot of athletes with ADHD are so great. Because they had the ADHD hyper-focus and could keep practicing longer than everybody else. My house is cleaner than any other mom I know because I hyper-focus on cleaning. Other moms really think it’s a super power. I’ve never seen it that way, but there are so many more examples. The thing I’ve learned on my lifelong journey with ADHD is you need to master self control. Practice it every day of your life. Self control! Control your thoughts first, control your mouth, control your body. That’s what I feel like ADHD is. Having no idea why you have no self control.

They also need to bring out awareness for rejection sensitive disorder seen as they say 99% of people with ADHD has it.

First 12 seconds and already the host is getting it wrong. There is nothing “wrong” with us! ADHD is a neurotype. Our brains are actually made differently.

One of the "comforts" of finding out you have ADHD is that "you are not alone"...That is the comfort I feel being a part of this interesting segment of the population.

As the host AB, I don't think you're supposed to cut off you're guest when they're speaking. Much less every single time you ask them a question.

Are u an adhd brain? Cus I am. & if she didn’t. The interview would never end or progress! She could have apologized about doing it. However. Truly! He may have never stopped. It’s how our brains work. To us. It’s math

Actually Ashleigh, your intro mischaracterized the symptoms that many of us who are now being diagnosed as adults, actually exhibit. It's why we never knew and neither did anyone else! Some of us did amazingly well in school. As long as we're interested in something, we do well. It took some of us more effort, but we didn't all struggle with school work.
