You know, even all these years later, I still can't forget that day. I didn't vote for Bush Jr. but I respected what he said that Americans "should come together and comfort the families of the attack." Too bad, that accord didn't last long. Partisan politics blocked funding for critical healthcare for those who worked so hard at Ground Zero to try and clear rubble and find victims. For their sacrifice, they received cancers of various kinds, PTSD, respiratory diseases, and so much more. We, as a country, swore to "Never Forget", but when the initial funds ran out, the brave and suffering people had to fight for every penny to pay for their health care. So much for never forgetting. Some of the victims families did not receive help. So much for honoring them. All I can say is that the lack of empathy and compassion for these people is only outweighed by our treatment of veterans. As a country, we should be ashamed of ourselves.

I worked as a nanny for a family in London. The mom was Canadian and so the family were going to go to Canada for Christmas 1988 but the little boy caught tonsillitis so they cancelled the flight! They were booked on Pan Am flight 103 which blew up over Lockerbie in Scotland!

A group of my friends were in NY for the All My Children Fan Club Luncheon. On 9/10, my friend messaged me that they were going to the top of the WTC. On 9/11, I emailed my friend and begged her to tell me she was okay. They were just about to leave when the news broke. My uncle also survived 9/11. He was on top of the Burlington Coat Factory. He was almost hit by a flying torso that he believed came off Flight 175. He was “missing” for 3 days. My aunt started to plan his memorial service. He was volunteering at Ground Zero.

2 days prior I got a flight from Toronto to Chicago and then straight to Brussels. It was almost killed me had the canceled the flight and waiting for 2 days in a flight that almostflew to New York. So thank God I am alive today, I almost lost my life before school even started.

Mine wasn't quite that close, but close enough to keep me from flying for 3 months. I was a Flight Attendant for American. I was packing my bags to fly to New York later that morning. I watched the 2nd plane hit the tower. No accident, no medical emergency, no emergency landing ever really got to me. It was my job. But after 9/11, I didn't leave my house for a week. I knew or was familiar with every crew member on both American planes. Heroes to me, in addition to all of the heroes who lost their lives that day. I went to a laundromat a month after this. 2 people there- myself and a local firefighter. It was the 1st time I've ever broken down and cried with a complete stranger.

There was also more detail to the story about Seth Macfarlane missing the flight. Before he traveled he booked his flight through a travel agency. The agency gave him the wrong departure time on his itinerary. The itinerary said the depart time was 8:15 but it was actually 7:45. So it was alcohol and the travel agency.

The observation deck didn’t open till 9:30 AM, so Thorpe’s story doesn’t add up. It was also impossible to realize your plane hit the building right away like MacFarlane claims, because it took hours before it was reported what planes were involved.

If he’s Australian and not familiar with NYC, the WTC, of the observation deck in general, he likely didn’t know. He probably found out it wouldn’t open until 9:30 that morning. Also, it’s not unusually, at least for me, if on a trip or even if i just have time to spare, to just kind of hang around some place until I’m ready to make my next move. I could see myself, grabbing some coffee, and sitting and waiting for the deck to open someplace in the building. Possibly on the floor of the observation deck if there was a waiting area.
