My father always said that celebrities are to distract us.
@loulou7194Ай бұрын
Your father is right. I'm French and in my country, the word corresponding to "entertainment" in French is "divertissement" whose etymology comes from the latin word "divertire" (in the sense of moving away in another direction or giving something a different meaning from what it is) and will give today the French word "divertir", which means "to divert" in english. Among its synonyms, you have "switch", "occupy", "amuse", "deflect", "deviate" and of course "distract".

The classic celebrities did one simple thing which modern celebrities stopped. Aloofness. Classic celebrities were more cutoff and separated from society. They didn't lecture the public about their beliefs, politics and ideologies. Everything was fluff. When appearing on talk shows they would do skits, or monologue over a humorous story. If they discussed anything personal, they would talk about their diet, or something from their childhood. They maintained a mysterious quality about themselves without appearing unfriendly or guarded. It isn't an overnight change to what we have now. I think celebrities began exposing more of their natural selves in the 80s/90s and by the 2010s they had become insufferable and now that they're obsessed with politics and ideology no one wants to be in the same room with them let alone continue to adore them as special people.

They're not like you or me, or even the privileged doctor down the street. He actually has to work hard at what he does to keep his income and not kill anybody. Not celebrities.

Why do we call them influencers if they don't influence anyone or anything? God is an Influencer, Gahndi is an influencer, Beethoven is an influencer.
@ٴٴٴٴ_06 күн бұрын
If you dig up Gandhi's personal life, he was just as bad as these celebrities, if not worse. Beethoven was no sweetheart either. If they're famous, either dead or alive, they're most likely bad guys, it's the sad truth

Chappel Roan AKA Kayleigh really does annoy the hell out of me. How are you going to be the unofficial successor of the literal fame monster Lady Gaga. And then turn your nose up at that very fame. She just knows that she can tell off a man on a red carpet and her fan base will eat that stuff up. She'll get praised for showing boundaries and being a girl boss. But what she doesn't realize is she's turning off of majority of the people who don't even know who she is at first glance.

you're a fan of a celebrity for something they create, for example music and really loving someone's music is not cringe
@suzisuzim50Ай бұрын
@ being fan of their art is not the same thing being fan of a person. Being fan of a person is literally being a flyin monkey such as Selena Gomez’s fans or Beyonce’s fan etc because they act like the person they have been a fan of can not make mistake and everything they have been done is the right thing etc. They become very attacker to others even you just say her music is not my cup of tea they attack you. They literally doing dirty jobs of the certain celeb. And they buy all of the stupid products of the celeb so they can stay as rich. It is cult behavior and very very cringy.

3:31 Tbf to that other person, Gaga was extremely insufferable in interviews back in the 00's and is also extremely narcissitic/fake/steals material (she skinwalked now-defunct artist Lina Morgana, who is the one that was actually subversive, Gaga was carefully manufactured by Interscope which is why none of her pre-deal stuff looks or sounds like her post-debut.) If TikTok and live-streaming had been a thing back in the 00's, Gaga absolutely would've plummeted the same way, if not worse. Hell, people outside her hardcore fans dislike her NOW. There's a reason she fell off and other artists like Taylor Swift, who is actually likeable, took the spotlight.

Maybe if celebrities did more to help the common person, then we'd actually care about them and they'd still be relevant. Taylor Swift with her 1 billion+ empire could easily help underprivileged kids for example, but she chooses not to and hoards her wealth instead. During the 2010's, Miley Cyrus started a charity called Happy Hippie, an organization to help homeless youth, and she even brought one of the kids she helped on stage with her at an awards show. This is the type of behavior we should be seeing from celebrities - helping the less fortunate and trying to make a positive impact on the world. I have more respect for Miley than I do other celebrities since she actually seems to be a good person and wants to help others
@ifeomaibeh6826 күн бұрын
Please get informed, Taylor has always donated through our her career and even on this eras tour she donated to every city she toured. A simple Google search would prove this instead of just hating
@truthiscensored25 күн бұрын
@@ifeomaibeh68 Google ain't research. A simple Google search mislead many who think they doing real research. And rich people usually donate to things that benefit them. Many donate to THEIR OWN CHARITIES for tax purposes...moving money from the right pocket to the left. The real test is show the people who have benefited from her "donations"
