This case always makes me so deeply sad. Seemed like such a genuinely kind, empathetic person and someone who truly was passionate about her art rather than about just being a celebrity. This is pretty rare, especially for such a young person today. She was even kind enough to want to talk to and embrace Kevin before he shot her, where everyone else wanted to avoid him. So deeply sad

It is sad when someone tries to give another person a chance because they’re a normal person who hasn’t been ruined by our society, only for that other person to already have been ruined (or f’d up from birth) and has to kill them too. I hate our society it’s just too big and out of touch now

I had an aggressive stalker many years ago. The police could do nothing. Eventually, I moved away and he turned his attention to a Cracker Barrel waitress. After the waitress's boyfriend confronted the stalker, the stalker went home and returned the next night. He shot and killed the waitress and seriously injured her boyfriend (head wound) when she was being picked up at the end of her shift. Scared me when I heard what had happened.

It’s so disturbing that the police don’t take stalking more seriously countless stories of these cases ending in homicide. If someone shows that type of anti-social behaviour they should be more precautions taken, at the very least involuntary inpatient treatment.

Hi Dr. Grande. This case is very disturbing because she could have avoided this entire situation if she would've known to begin with that he had a mental problem. It takes alot of patience & understanding to avoid people like this in your life, especially if you're famous. I can't understand how anyone can be that obsessed with someone when there are so many people in this world that are not famous that are just as beautiful and are talented in life skills which are just as important as being famous. @@miss_bougie6653 it’s not that the police don’t take it seriously. Or I should say as a whole, some don’t. There is only so much they can do under the law. In the case of Rebecca Shaffer who was murdered by a crazed fan on her doorstep he got her address through the DMV. It’s now illegal to just give out that information. But at the time of her murder anyone could access addresses this way. So the laws have to change first.

Remember when the media gave Avril Lavigne so much flack about not allowing a random male fan to hug her? The media claimed she was "mean" and allowing fans to take pictures with you and get a hug just "comes with the territory." I don't like her music but I admired that she stood by her boundaries and wouldn't be pressured into interactions with fans that she wasn't comfortable with. After things like this happen, it's no wonder why a young female celebrity wouldn't feel comfortable with total strangers to her coming up and wanting close contact or physical contact. No one would give Avril Lavigne any shit for that in today's world! they'd be commending her for being a good influence for young female fans

There’s something deeply concerning about having a crush on a celebrity. It’s one thing to find them attractive and to want to meet them, it’s another if you consider a possibility to be with them.
@transatlanticnostalgia4655
@transatlanticnostalgia4655 Жыл бұрын
@Joseph Stassup I mean, I think everyone who has a crush on a celebrity considers the possibility of being with them. It's just that there is a difference between a crush and an unhealthy obsession, like this guy had. You (as in "someone") can entertain the possibility of being with them, and you can even use that as a motivation for self improvement. At the same time, though, you must remain grounded in reality. You must remember that, while you can actually get the chance to meet your celebrity crush (through things like meet & greets) the chance that you will become romantically involved, or even just friends, is 0.000000000001 in a million. And you must realize that this is ABSOLUTELY OKAY, and that there are other fish in the sea. Wanting to be with your celebrity crush is a common feeling. But considering them your eternal soulmate and having the "If I can't have them, no one can" mentality is not.

Christina and I are from the same hometown. She only went to my high school for a short bit of time, but she was very loved by those who had known her. I remember my choir teacher being so, so excited when she got on The Voice, taking a majority of class time to talk about her and show us the clip of her (singing Wrecking Ball, I believe). While I never met her myself, there was a day that she visited after the school day ended and some people I knew did talk with her, all of them saying how incredibly sweet she was. Our town was hit incredibly hard by the news of her passing, and she has a brick dedicated to her in the memorial garden at the school. Thank you for talking about this, Dr. Grande

after a certain number of record sales, you are guaranteed to have at least one really serious, really dangerous stalker. Look at Ariana Grande, or literally any kpop star who exists right now. Nayeon from TWICE has a German stalker named Josh who has managed to get ON A PLANE WITH THE GROUP to the point they are all constantly on guard. it's a numbers game, once you're that famous you're just rolling the dice on how safe you can keep yourself. because we do absolutely nothing to intervene with delusional people, and once your name is out there, it just takes one mentally ill person with free time and you're looking over your shoulder forever. if you look it up on youtube, recently there was a guy following the boy band TXT around and he managed to get on stage a week or so ago, got very close to some of the guys and then was following them around the venue during the show until he was stopped, it was really scary. the band is lucky the dude didn't seem intent on doing anything, or taking advantage of how dumbfounded everyone was, because they were just letting him do whatever until the shock wore off.

This reminds me of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, the former Pantera guitarist who was murdered on stage by an obsessed, delusional stalker who snuck into a show that Dime was playing with his new band, Damageplan, and shot him dead in front of his brother, who was also in the band, and then began firing into the crowd after shooting the band's tour manager who had tried to tackle him. He apparently blamed Dimebag for the breakup of Pantera, and said as much before opening fire. A police officer who happened to be in the area at the time went into the club alone without waiting for backup and killed the gunman. Still one of the most shocking and tragic incidents in the history of rock music and metal.

First time hearing this story. Sad and scary at the same time. I remember back in the late 90s a young tennis star by the name of Monica Seles was stabbed (but lived to see another day) by a person in the crowd as she went to hug her team after winning a match. This changed security for tennis matches after that event. Tennis players are now escorted by security before going up in the crowd to hug their team after winning a match. Weird and deranged people out there. Thanks Dr Grande for consistency of putting out interesting stories. 👍🏾

Seles attacker was completely obsessed with her rival Steffi Graf and believed he should get rid of Seles to help Graf win more often. It was a pretty bizarre case. There used to be video of the attack, but I'm not sure if it's still around. The attacker was suspected of suffering from a Madonna-Whore complex, whereby he idolised Graf and despised Seles.

If I remember correctly, Monica wasn't even in a crowd when she was stabbed. She was playing a match being shown on television & during one of the breaks, she was on her designated seat, sipping from her bottle, fiddling with her racquet, when this person walked behind her & buried a knife in her back. Caught everyone off guard. She didn't even know what had hit her but did let off a scream that got everyone's attention. I think the stabber claimed he was a Steffi Graf fan & did it to avenge his fave. Something like that anyways.

Long ago, I knew someone who was often in conflict with people around him. He always believed he was right, and his opinions were facts to him. If he was in conflict with a woman, he often decided the reason was that she had fallen in love with him or desired him s*xu@lly. Married women, therapists, church members… He even believed an elderly Catholic nun who “didn’t like him” was in reality, desiring him. He was prone to outbursts of anger and physical aggression if anyone argued with his opinions or statements. So, after briefly trying to reason with him, it was “,okay, maybe.” (But really, no.) I never realized there was a specific term for his delusions.

I was aware of Christina because she was a Haley Reinhart fan and in fact was one of the first to sing & record a song that Haley had written, "Get Yourself Together" (you can hear Haley's distinct vocals in the background). At the time, I'd heard Christina's Meet and Greet was basically in a hallway. I've been to several meet and greets and most of them are indoors where you would not only have to pass at least one door security, the meet and greet would be held in a room where access to the artist is more limited than if it would be in a public hallway, where the general public just walked pass the meet and greet table. I'm not sure that would've prevented what happened but at least having the M&G in a separate room, passing through another security, there would be opportunity for those observing to spot 'out of place' people. I recall there were some girls in line w/ the guy and reported that he was very quiet and they got really 'weird' vibes from him. So people's alarm bells were going off. I hate to generalize, but recent years we see how citizens of the State of Florida love their guns, perhaps this kind of attitude contributed to the laisez faire way security was the night of the murder, although you'd think living in a gun loving state, security would be more aware of the potential gun violence risk than these people did that night, or maybe their guard was down because of the average age of Christina's fans (more reason the murderer should've had more attention focussed on him before the act).... RIP Christina

It's hard to generalize on concert venues and how security could be made to work under all circumstances. Just a couple of weeks ago I saw a concert by Cam Coles, a performer who has largely carved his own niche through YT and social media, he's British and this is his first US tour. The venue was little more than a bar and there was some contract security present, mostly at the door. After the show Cam just walked to the back of the bar area where a couple of tables were set up and he proceded to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans. I am not sure that there was enough of a security presence to prevent him being assaulted - certainly I was not frisked/ searched.

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun throug the heavens.

As a longtime true crime fan(thanks to Mom(of beloved memory), the many questions that will likely never be answered still intrigues me. And reading the comments from the Orlando, Florida PD detectives who conducted the interviews with Kevin's co-workers and family, the alleged accidental death(reported as Aspirin Overdose) of Kevin's mom(Nora) in 2010 is usually commented upon only in passing; except that he blamed himself by supposedly encouraging her to commit suicide. Was this ongoing guilt an important factor in Loibl's obsession with Christina? After all, a huge part of her faith was about eventual redemption from sin; all sin. Sometimes that can be an even more powerful desire than mere sexual attraction.

Well that's why I said "grow out off that stage" Sadly I think this guy was no longer under the delusion so that's when he took action. If he was still under the delusion he would still be holding out hope in his mind.

So sad, I listened to her from when she started on KZbin. Just a kid with a talent and a passion who worked very hard. A very unfortunate victim of a damaged person.

I know of someone diagnosed with a delusional disorder, due to them believing a senior detective associated with their job, was stalking them and had hacked into all of their devices. He was stalking them, was obsessed with them and had hacked into all their devices. It ruined her life, she couldn't work due to the psychiatric diagnosis as her employer had her "medically retired" and no one else would hire her, the detective knew about all of this and did not admit anything, for fear of being fired, even though he's past the age of retirement anyway. She is currently selling her home as she can't afford the mortgage any more. Not only that, but the detective is a Mormon. I guess he's going to hell then. His co workers and boss won't expose him either. Some law enforcement people are worse than the criminals.

So many young men in the news lately with a story that ends in violence. Where does it begin and what happened to them? Thanks for your thoughts Dr Grande.

Men's emotions aren't taken seriously, they need better support and mental health support. I know about 20 young Men who took their own lives, one was my Parents next door neighbour.

@@msjujuz266Mens suicide don't matter, society only care about women sadly I think it's always been that way. History has some great examples. Look at how men were treated when they came home from the world wars, often just discarded of course this isn't taught in history class. It's something that is conveniently forgotten. I think that gives a good insight into how society views men. If a world war three was to happen I've no doubt the men would face the same treatment again today. Shell shocked survivors with PTSD would Simply be told to shut up and how much privilege they have. Of course in reality both genders have their unique struggles or disadvantages. I find it interesting how any and all male issues or disadvantage is totally ignored and we're constantly told how men have it easy in every single way which is obviously not true.

Begins at home. I just finished reading a book by an FBI agent who has spent a career studying young male offenders of violence and the conclusion he came to was that their psyche starts being built way before the violence starts- it begins at home where so many families in the u.s. are pathological. The fathers in a very large amount of families have left or they're in prison. Young men aren't getting the attention or guidance they need at an early age. Often the households are not only negligent but there is domestic abuse going on. Drug or alcohol abuse going on around him which further complicates an already negative relationship with his family and prevents any beneficial changes from happening because the drug users can't even think straight, let alone help their struggling child. The kid feels helpless, angry, confused, lost, desperate, etc. Then there is ready access to firearms in many households. And schools that are so large and impersonal that troubled kids fall through the cracks because no one can see how badly they're struggling and how angry they are, and even if they do, they blame the kid for his bad behavior and send him to detention. This is just a generalization but my point is that the negative emotions just keep spiraling out of control. The time for preventing a very angry, desperate, lost, and now antisocial young man from commiting violence has already long passed. Then just think that similar stories are playing out all over the country every day, in large amounts. If the circumstances are just right, some of those young men are going to lash out eventually.

@@msjujuz266 I totally agree. The modern "feminists" these days always scoff at the idea that men on a large scale are not purely benefiting from our culture, like "oh he's a white male what problems could he *possibly* be up against!" but as it turns out- a LOT. I'm a female and although the struggles are different I think boys/men are struggling with the pathologies in our culture just as much, if not more than we do. There needs to be some better insight and a serious change in the way families treat the boys- so many young men are practically screaming for help.

A friend of mine was stalked for several years by a man that saw her at mall and decided that she was his soul mate. This is not about mishandled fame. It is about the availability of guns in our country. Nobody is safe anywhere at anytime.

I truly believe that having a stalker in your life is far more life threatening and dangerous than being diagnosed with a disease such as cancer. I'd take cancer any day than being stalked by someone that could be there anytime at will. The fact that law enforcement generally cannot do anything until you practically get murdered is horrifying.

Dr. Grande, I have a concussion and I am mildly phonophobic, but your low, soft cadence is very soothing. I can't tolerate much media right now because it's all so loud, so I came straight to your channel because I knew it wouldn't be overwhelming. Thank you. 🌸
