Celine Dion I am so proud of you. I'm a fellow warrior of a rare genetic syndrome that affects my whole body.. I've been temporarily paralyzed and had cardiac arrest before and it can happen again..my kidneys can fail and all of this can happen again. I'm in pain 24/7, so trust me I relate. I, know that it's not easy but we and many others are warriors. We can do this and we will do this. Because we continue on, we inspire others. I had heard none of those rumours but seeing her in Paris I suspected her being a part somehow. I did not expect her to sing however. When that music started I was hoping they hadn't ask some random singer singing this. When Celine appeared..I was , like Kelly, in tears. For Kelly a common response..for me highly uncommon...what an OMG moment! So very happy for us fans but especially for Celine herself. And for the show because that was the moment saving that openingceremony show from swiftly falling in to oblivion. Compared to the best openings ever...China and Great Britain...that was an incredibly underwhelming and dissappointing offering from a nation so known for it's culture and rich history

Was it pre-recorded. People are arguing. I would like to know whether it was live or not. If it was pre-recorded it loses something. If she sang live (which is what it looks like) it adds so much more to her triumph. The other option is that she was singing on top of the pre-recording. So partially pre-recorded to smooth her voice out as well as her own voice layered over it.? No one is reporting the facts.

Coverage on Australia was saying that all the artists singing on the opening ceremony were pre-recorded in case tech failures happened. For huge live events like this, I'm sure this is a standard practice. Celine's performance was live.

Imagine what it is like to have her disease, rehearse for the event, fly to Paris, go up the Eiffel Tower, and perform high up in that cold, wet, intimidating structure with just a harness and no probable immediate help if she starts getting over stimulated or overwhelmed and get a seizure.
