Nice demo! The Gold sounds like the "better" speaker in overall tonality and definition but the VT Jr sounded more like a classic G12 Greenback... So for the SV20 I think the VT Jr is a great pairing, think I will try one of these in my Lead 12!

I had the gold and did not care for it.I may be in the minority but it was just too bright and small sounding for me.The gold has that nice alnico bouncy feel to it but the frequency spread of the VT sounds much sweeter and thicker to my ears.

You can really hear that the gold 10 is much better dirty and clean alot more definition great demo

Thanks yes I have to agree - didn't expect it to be as obvious thru the mic but it backs up what I *thought* was true hearing them in the room (but with the obvious 15 mins between each whilst swapping the speaker). I did consider getting a 2nd SV20c and SM57 just to A/B it 'in the room'...

@@PedalScience im on my mobile with no earphones just the speaker so i think with headphones and in the room while playing it will be even more obvious. I have the head with 2 greenbacks it sings. That gold one sounds great wouldnt chance it very clear sounding

@@PedalScience man check out Celestion G10N-40! Ive been trying out so many 10s for my Lead 12 and it's holding up as my favorite and hard to beat. At it's core it's similar to the G10 Greenback but has a much sweeter top end with some chime and punch that sounds great clean. Pushed it has the Greenback character as also heard on the VT Jr here. So far my favorites I've tried are the G10N-40, Weber Legacy 10 (Weber's Greenback models. It's extremely stiff and has taken forever to break in but has brightened up, the bass softened and the midrange sitting just right for classic Celestion), Eminence Ramrod (this speaker has an "American" kind of top end but British midrange... It's actually an extremely impressive speaker) The next speakers I'm going to try are the G10L-35, VT Jr, G10F-15 (I've been impressed with the classis Marshall sound the limited 1watt combos have with this speaker)... But the G10N-40 just seems hard to beat imo, so far sounds the most "classic" 60's Celestion.

Nice! I actually have the SC20c now instead, which can take a 12", but recently got a 1936V for it as well - sounds huge! (I assume that's the same cab you are talking about.)

@@PedalScience well it is the same cab as the 1936 but is labled vintage. It has the Marshall Celestion v30 speakers in it. Picked it up second hand cheap. I cancelled my sv 2x12 cab as it sounded boxy as well. Well pleased. I’m yet to try the tc electronics spark booster with it which has just arrived in the post. 12” speakers I think is a must with these amps. 10 inch just doesn’t cut it. Once I had an orange 4x10 and didn’t like it either.
