Been using k100's for almost a decade now. Unabashedly mid scooped monster, definitely jives well with another speaker to bring in the mids. I love em.

First off, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I've been racking my brain for the last month or so trying to decide which speaker I wanted to put in a Mesa Mini Recto 1x12 angled cab I picked up recently. And this video just gave me that answer!!! I currently use a Mesa Recto Horizontal 2x12 with G12-T75's in it, and its monsterous! So when I tried the 1x12, it was a lot brighter than I expected. But having heard this I think the K100 would be the best in the angled 1x12, while the DV-77 would be best in the straight 1x12 to balance them out better & have a much tighter overall tone between the two. That, plus in combination with the 2x12 w/the G12-T75's, that should make for a really nice wall of sound as well!!

This is the first KZbin comparison video with A/B clips where I couldn't tell the two apart too hard. My ears must be wrong today. Regardless, keep the content coming as you can and continue your path. I'm picking up what you're putting down.

I bought and old Crate for $50 bucks and the amp started to work intermittently. So, I bought a Fender LT25 for the digital amps within it. The SuperClean amp setting with my Tele is 60cycle hum free... But the crap 8" Fender speaker was anemic. So, I opened up the back and disconnected the Fender speaker and ran it thru the Celestion G12k 100 and whoa... It's a mid-range monster. I use an acoustic guitar Behringer DI unit first to boost my signal and then thru my pedal board. To get better tone from my Tele, I'm using Elixir Phosphor Bronze .11 / .49 acoustic strings, in D Standard tuning.. I like the string sound that is a crisper / warm tone than the harsh nickel StringJoys. I use StringJoys Naturals .11 / .52 on my Acoustics religiously. I like a wound G to get rid of the shrill tone on a solid G string. It may sound crazy to run acoustic strings on a Tele but it works for me. So does lowering my pickups. My Tele breathes now. As for playing overdrive, wow... The G12k is wildly satisfying. Using that DI really drives it plenty @25 watts. Who knew. hahaha

Thanks! Great video. V30s and DV77 you think will sound huge? Or DC and K100? I couldn't understand what you meant at the end on the huge mix you mentioned I think you said you are looking forward to the V30/K100 blend. . Surprised the DV77 sounds so big and wide since its a small dust cap, which I associated with V30 or GB type speakers. I hear large dust cap speakers as fat and brows.

@@MetalHeadProductions Yep true! You mentioned K100s having a nasal quality so I figured V30/K100 could be too nasal. That said thanks to your great demos I'm going with my V30/Redback and DV77/K100. What are you using the DV77s with? Thanks again for the videos bro.

@@Bognerman14 my DV-77s are in a Zilla 212 all on their own but I do want an Omega 412 with DV-77s and omega VM-1265s in an x pattern. I don't think you'll have to worry about k100s and v30s sounding too nasal together, they have very different mids and blend pretty well together. Once I have my ksr cab I'll be able to show that.

@@MetalHeadProductions oh yeah for sure it can work in a blend. I like how with the mid frequency voice it pushes it can make a standard tuning guitar sound like it is tuned lower especially on those inverted chord chugs. When you listen back to the same recording with a V30 instead it suddenly sounds like your playing old school metal. The swamp thing if you set it right can get close to that HM2 buzzsaw voice as well. I saw the Kohlekeller video on speakers and I am glad I did.

I'm. Building a new 412., Mostly metal and some hard rock and grunge. What do you guys think would be a good mix - dv70/K100 or dv77/cl80 or Mesa 90? DV 77 has a small dust cap so I thinking it won't sound as fat as the Celeations, other than the V30.
@MetalHeadProductions
@MetalHeadProductions 3 жыл бұрын
DV-77s and either k100s or swamp thangs pair great together, and the DV-77s are still really full sounding, but that fatness will definitely come through with what you pair it with. I haven't used a cl80 so I can't say on that one.
@Bognerman14
@Bognerman14 3 жыл бұрын
@@MetalHeadProductions Thank you for the info bro. I used Swamp Thangs years ago and the band complained nobody heard me, so they forced me to use V30s. The sound guy said I had all lows. It's interesting the DV77 sounds wide and big considering the small dust cap which I associate with a narrow, focused, bright tone, compared to large dust caps. My Splawn is Mesa V30/Redbacks so maybe I'll do DV77/K100 in my Bogner 412. Do the DV77s have enough mids?

The dv 77 are still new to the market, but I'm so tired of hearing about them already. So many guys have boners over these things, yet the haven't even played them. Also, I think too many guys are saying how great they are just because of a few you tubers talking about them. With you tubes compression, and not being able to hear they actually sound, I don't believe you can even get an accurate representation of a speaker. Anyway...i truly appreciate the effort put into these videos, even though they never sound that much different through YT
