Guys I will tell you a secret, you can buy the Chrome "JDM" bumpers all over Europe, while in USA 1st gen celicas were coded as RA2XXX in Europe it was TA2XXX and they all came with chrome smileys. They cost about 50 euros.
I own about 8 sets for my liftback, liftback and coupe arent the same otherwise I would send them for free.

I shed a tear when the Arches were chopped, yet Ken done them justice with the finish work. So used to seeing a quick chop and chicken s**t welds applied. Still would have liked to actually see Dave work on the car more since the start.

Rear diffuser! With integrated lower wing to increase rear downforce without increasing drag by much, a flow though design works, but I had a euro E36 M3 for a few years, it took me a while to figure out how the rear diffuser was supposed to work, but it did work, it catches the air as it exits the underside rear of the car and spirals up and around in order to fill the vortex created at the rear of the car, so effectively at speed the air is pushing down on the "step" creating downforce from otherwise wasted energy. Worth looking at the E36 M3 rear bumper, it was designed to not need a rear spoiler and it works very well.

I did the JDM swap on my USDM 76' Liftback and just make sure you double check the width of the license plate holes before you drill them because the dimples on mine were not correct. Hey Dave, I have heard that 68 mustang rear valences are about the right shape, you just trim the sides off because it's wider than the Celica. They're about $35 for a brand new stamped one. I haven't ordered one to confirm this yet but someone on the first gen Facebook group claims to have used one.

Need the hood to see how the front looks! You could just mock up the front portion of it. You're right, the JDM rear bumper is nicer, much nicer!
@BobPegram6 жыл бұрын
One of our laments when the 5 mph bumpers were mandated was that cars were butchered! Take a look at a 1970 Camaro vs all the later years of that body style. Eventually lawmakers were pushed to make the bumpers only resist 2.5 mph impacts without damage. After that body colored bumper shields saved the day. We no longer notice that "bumper areas" are all the same height, which IS sensible. What a long strange road it's been!
