Purchase/Stream 'Wish Upon A Blackstar':
fanlink.to/wuab
Wish Upon A Blackstar, one of the most anticipated albums of the year, is a masterwork by a master artist. The album's sixteen songs seamlessly blend genres from Electro and Dubstep to Rock and Orchestral with an intricacy and precision seldom heard in today's Electronic music. But it's not just studio wizardry and digital complexity; even the best production has little staying power without strong songcraft to back it up, and this is where Celldweller brings his deeply honed songwriting ability to bear, making Wish Upon A Blackstar an album that will long outlast its contemporaries. Truly epic in scope and execution, Wish Upon A Blackstar will not only leave a lasting mark on the always-changing landscape of Electronic music, but will stand the test of time as a remarkable statement of artistic virtue in a sea of disposable trends.

He doesn't "DO" dubstep. He uses dubstep and bends it to his will. He makes sweet love to it in an orgy of electronic synths and amazing riffs. And what comes out of that orgy is musical perfection.

man, everything is so carefully produced and layered. if you listen closely you can really get a sense for how long this must've taken him to create. each effect, from the meticulously timed filters on the "wah"ing synths (for lack of a better word) to the complex harmonies layered in the vocals, makes the song truly incredible. this is a pretty good gift for us :)

@@darksoulthedragon82 I believe it is more indifference but at the same time wanting to have closure, move on while at the same time still caring about your fellow human in question to some point despite all the crap you went through. This song is making a jab back to prove a point. Yes you technically make the other person undergo the same abuse to some extent that they put you through but the intentions seems to be therapeutic and good behind it all. Where both individuals take responsibility for their actions by the exchanges of gift before the relationship fell apart. Remember if you give some one gift they do not deserve, it is like pouring sand in their hands This is what it feels to me what the songs convey. As the gift you both has shared in the past turn to sand they become a anchor and a burden and possibly toxic at that and you both have to learn to cope with the consequences of the actions involved.

0:00 Girl fades in. 0:25 She casts a spell. "I got a gift for you" The girl is sitting around the table with a guy. It looks like they're gonna have dinner. 1:25 "Hello, again". They've met before. He fills up her wine cup. But they're not friends. 1:55 She sips the wine. "It's okay though, because I've got a gift for you" he says. 2:08 "Poison in the well" - the wine is poisoned. 2:30 She's dying and crawling away. 3:12 As he appears in front of her again "Hello again" "There's one thing left to do" - a reflection from the spell echos around. "I've got a gift for you" - as he stabs her with a knife, to finish it. Dying and bleeding she falls down. Confident he walks away. 4:44 Then, the spell kicks in "I've got a gift for you" the female echo says. "Poison in the well" - Suddenly he feels sick and becomes poisoned out of nowhere. "A special place in hell" - Suddenly he starts bleeding from his chest, right the spot where he stabbed her. "I've got a gift for you" ... The spell was a reflection spell. Everything he did upon her, is reflected to himself. He falls to the ground, dead, as he just suffered the poison and knife stab she just suffered. She got the last word and last revenge. She knew her fate, but needed to be certain of his too. Anyways thats what my imagination made of this song. Would be a great video clip I'd imagine.

and music can relate to anyone, even if it is completely unrelated to what the person is going through some people find their own meaning from the music. Has nothing to do with the lyrics, it is more to do with the backing track. Certain combinations of notes trigger different impulses in the brain which control our feelings. That is why some music makes people cry, some music makes people angry, some music relaxes people etc. The texture of the instruments\sounds also play a huge part.

No it does not sound stupid at all man. I believe music is the universal language of the world. Think about it this way. Sign Language = useless to blind people Music= death people can still sense it through vibrations, blind people can still hear it Even if a song is in a different language, foreigners can still understand what the artist is trying to portray through the mood of the music. For example, Rammstein - Mutter obviously means mother. Through music we can communicate with anyone!!!

This isn't techno. Techno is a sub-genre of electronica with 4-on-the-floor beats, around 120-150 bpm. It's not dubstep, either; dubstep is around 140 bpm. I can't be sure, because I don't have my computer with me, but I think this song is around 160-180 bpm (at half-time), which is the tempo of dnb (or drumstep, a name for dnb at half-time). However, the verse-chorus structure and emphasis on lyrics typical of rock music make this electronic-rock.

@Ramon609 Just as much as it annoys you that I'm not letting you be and that I don't hear it like you, is where I feel that people have forgotten a meaning for the words that the artist sings for and about. If you went through this album, listened to the words, and found what they meant, you'd have a totally different perception of all of this... probably would realize how morbidly satisfying it truly is.

@ct1232123 @ct1232123 Because any old artist can go and say it plain and straight. It takes a true artist to twist a concept into an underlying emotion, to grip the listener with a unique take on an experience, a theme, or a story. If you want plain and simple, I could recommend a lot of trite, regurgitated pop music. But if you want deeper, more meaningful music that really takes a larger understanding, I'd stick with Celldweller and other artists that really inspire.

Fuck... I still cant believe you are actually uploading all of these by yourself D: PEOPLE - THIS is something you don't see very often and I think that you will be seeing it LESS and LESS in the times to come! I'm getting my new credit card done in the next month and it will allow me to make transactions with accounts from foreign countries... So I'm gonna buy the Blackstar album to support Klayton! Long live Celldweller!!

@justark2 I don't feel this song's like Frozen, the songs it instantly reminded me of are Welcome to the end, Under my feet and Tainted, which are all better songs in my opinion. I didn't think much of this song when I first heard it but I like it a lot more now, though i'd prefer it if the chorus was in his normal voice and the drum beats had a more natural sound. So you're right, it is indeed overproduced.

@PredatorAze You're right. I think you can see it in 2 different ways: 1. It's just a rip off. 2. It's a great remake or even a whole new song. What's your general opinion about that?

OMG WHO IS THIS WOMAN AND WHERE IS CELLDWELLER GETTING THESE IDEAS!! This song rocks! I even favorited it before the first 5 seconds because of that background music!

@cell6ida the whole chord progression is 'goodbye'. but he's using that voice half octave auto tune thingy, which i'm surprised he's not used sooner. he started it in started in circle of dust with 'pale reflection' but left it by the road side for over a decade. i think it's cause he's self destructive.

I swear, Klayton could fart into a microphone and some of you guys would call it a masterpiece. Personally, I liked this song better when it was called "Frozen". At least then it didn't sound this tired and overproduced. Flame away hipsters. Maybe Celldweller will become popular one day and you'll all be forced to proclaim your hatred for it.

Yeah, if the final part of Blackstar sounds like this part did... Sorry, man, but this and I Can't Wait were just... bad. Stop this dubstep stuff, it doesn't mix with electro-rock at all. If you wanna make a full dubstep song, do it, but stop this awkward mixing. It doesn't work.

@KommanderKelby his roots? like 'immortal'? his work back in the early 90's? pure metal my flaming flamingo. don't get me wrong my japanese friend, i don't want 'one good reason' back for that is nu metal. i want 'think headed mule' and the like. and for this...we need dan leveler back. and danny l.

@xXDogPersonThingXx Although we'll never quite know, that actually isn't a bad guess... from what Klay has said, the album itself is about the theme of "be careful what you wish for", and pandora's box is a great example. I wouldn't say you're not smart ;)

@AlphaKiloOscarZulu It's sounds very different but the idea came from the other song. He made a new song out of it. That's what I would say.

@CherriNight Because that's the important part of a song. If you know the meaning of a song, then perhaps you can relate to it. People want to relate to songs because it makes them feel better. It's as simple as that.

@Ramon609 It's not really an opinion, the album goes in chronological order... I guess if you don't want to think of the story of the album, you can put it into any scene as mindless babble, but it really isn't.

@shaft800and1 Man I agree 100%. I loved the original album. It was so fucking hardcore. I just don't like the dubstep in the new songs. The heavy guitars from switchback and i believe you should be a staple in his sound.

that his new stuff is sub par its quite good but in regards to his original album nobody in the genre could even make an attempt at competing with or imitating his work. sorry for anyone who disagrees but its true.

Dude the beginning is so trippy! It sounds like she is saying "I can't feel," but at the volume gets louder and less echo-ey, you can hear her distinctly say "I got a gift for you." O_O Nice job Klayton! :]
