Thank you for this video - it was very timely, as I'm currently trying to decide whether to rent a 7/8 or 4/4 cello. Upon listening to the comparison, I'm pretty convinced that I should go for the 4/4. Elaine, as someone of smaller stature who is returning to cello, my advice would be to pay attention to the responsiveness/playability of the cello, which can be even more important than the dimensions. I've found that some cellos are just easier to play than others, and fighting to get a sound out of a smaller cello might counteract any benefits from the size. I hope that makes sense.

I got a Yinfente 5 String Electric Cello & I love it at Full Size.

If you can do extensions easily on the 4/4, I would go full size. Unfortunately for me, I had an injury to a finger on my left hand and am trading my full size for a 7/8. I have heard some 7/8 Jay Haide that sound great.

Yep, I'm a pretty big guy, but I have had multiple hand surgeries and the 7/8 is more comfortable. I don't notice a huge difference between the two sizes in quality instruments. That being said, 7/8 are harder to find

If a 4/4 cello isn't right for you, you must have freakishly small hands for your size. Most adult cellists play 4/4's, even people who are dozens of centimetres shorter than you. It's always best to try your options before you decide though.
