Dear James Hawthorn Trust this meets you well. Prize Mates Academy is a public school founded in 1998 for Kindgergaten and Grade one to Grade 9 students. I am a teacher for the Grade 2 students and we proud ourselves as one of the formost schools in promoting sustainability in the residential neighbourhoods. It's a great lecture, but the email example makes me nervous. I haven't been to an expensive restaurant and I can't imagine what food or service could make me mad. If I meet these types of questions, I need to spend more time on imagination than actual writing. I know this test is all about writing skills, I don't need to worry about content. However, I still will be struggling with which tone should I use when meeting this question. Should it be a very formal tone or more on an offensive tone?

I highly appreciate the Human Resource’s proposal to convert the first floor to a useful place that would help increase employee’s productivity. I believe that building an office gym is preferable than having a childcare center. Firstly, the company in general is consists of unmarried employees. Most of them do not have children thus the facility will not be utilized well. In addition, our employees do sedentary work that require physical exercise to avoid further health issues. We have seen that some employees are taking medical leave due to issues with back ache and shoulder pain. We would like to remedy this situation by given them free access to a fully equipped gym. A 30-minute exercise is enough to get them fit and healthy. Having a childcare center on the other hand would bring a lot of disagreements related to noise due to the playground and classroom setup. Children create disturbing sounds that could interrupt work. It can also cause distractions on the parents themselves. Parents might tend to leave their desk to attend their children. Childcare are still best to be placed away from work or away from a place that require full concentration. I am certain that having a gym would give more benefits to the employees’ productivity. I also believe that the employees would appreciate having the facility since it is free-of-charge.

Hi Ughur. All CELPIP tests follow the same structure and format. The practice tests are designed to reflect the same level of complexity that you will encounter on the real test.

Hi ! Thanks for very useful lesson. However, I wonder that there is a spellcheck function on the exam for writing section ? Because I saw on the slides that stated : “spellcheck words in red”

Hi Vincent. Yes, the CELPIP Test has a spell-check feature that recognizes incorrect spellings and provides a drop-down menu of suggestions for you to choose from. Please note, it does not correct the spelling for you!

Hello Fanshowe! Thanks for commenting. Task 2 asks you to give your opinion in a survey. You don't need to include a greeting at all. You can simply start by stating your opinion (from the two choices given on the test) and explaining why you feel that way. Here's one example from a writer being asked to decide how the city should use the green space in the middle of town. He starts the response by saying, "I believe the green space should be turned into a recreational park because it would support the citizen's physical and mental health." (The rest of the writing would give examples of how the physical and mental health would be supported). Task 1 asks you to write an email, so a greeting is necessary. I hope this helps!

Hello Abhay! Thank you for your question. The spell check identifies spelling errors and provides alternate suggestions to choose from. The test taker will have to choose the right spelling themselves.

I don't think Celpip tests actually rate fancy/big words. Celpip mainly tests you on you Canadian workplace english standards and using such words, although admirable is a bit odd.

Yes, I did purchase the 7 practice tests, but I don't know where to see the sample answers. They don't show up automatically like the answers to reading and listening.

Hi Daniel, when you start each component of the practice test, you should find an "Answer Key" button on the bottom left corner of each page. Similarly, you should find a button on the left of your Writing responses that says "Click here to view sample responses".

I'm sure you think that's the case. I have seen test takers write decent English but their delivery is awkward and often the jist of the sentence is lost behind fancy words. Tell em to stick to the point and they'll do fine.
