My baby boy Daniel died after living only 12 hours.Early birth from the Dalkon Shield fiasco. That was 50 years ago this coming October. His father and I still feel his presence and mourn his loss. This piece is magnificent.

You don't need Irish blood to tear on this one,I am 100% Italian and a 100 year old Irishman just passed away at my mom's assisted living place today,he was strong ,he was joyful, and he sang this song with heart and fervor like no young man,his name was Tom and he was so nice to mom nd when he sang it wasn't that he was Irish or Italian ,it was his character that mattered,RIP my friend!

This was my father's favourite song. He had a beautiful tenor voice and would sing this just for the joy of singing it. He passed 21 years ago. I lost my son Daniel thirteen years ago. I can't hear this song without remembering them. On my right arm is a tattoo of a Celtic harp surrounded by roses and on a banner across it are the notes for the last line of this song. This is the most beautiful rendition I have ever heard and I wish so much that I could share it with them.

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the roses falling, It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow, It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow, Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so! But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I well may be, You'll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!

My mom, passed away on Sunday August 2, 2015, while she has been laying in a nursing home, with Alzheimer's for quit a while. I am listening to her favorite songs from her homeland. A war bride, living in our USA, her heart was always in the highlands. That is for sure. This is beautiful wish she could be here to enjoy. I pray she is going to Dance in heaven from now on.

This barbershop quartet, let alone the entire group, will never ever ever be topped. I don’t know where Ireland gets all these dynamite singers from, but here in the US, we don’t have them to this level. It’s a miracle this group even formed in the first place, but I really wish I would have caught them sooner. Late 2020 and I’m just now discovering them, and can’t put them away.

Listening to this reminds me why I've been a Celtic Women fan since the beginning. I was 16 when I first started listening to them. Behind all of the showmanship, the productions, choir, choreography and fanfare are beautiful women with the most pure, controlled divine voices I have ever heard. God blessed them and us to be able to hear them.

My beautiful mum died suddenly & unexpectedly on her birthday, 10 January 2022. I was suddenly thrown into this world of organising a funeral for the first time & I had no idea what I was doing. Other than knowing she wanted Eva Cassidys somewhere over the rainbow I didn’t know what to choose or say. My family & I walked behind mum to this song. I’d given up hope trying to find something suitable until this came up in the early hours on my recommended page.. & it just hit me. Mum used to sing Danny Boy to me as a little girl. This is the first time I’ve listened to it since that February day. I burst into tears. Oh mum.. I miss you so much, I don’t know how to go on without you here. I love you more than you’ll ever know. My father's favourite song. He often sang it after returning from World War-II. His deep baritone still resonates in our ears 48 years after his passing away in 1975. He was Dr.(Capt.) Joseph Harinarain.

I have heard them sing this song live three different times over the years. Everything about it is like something from another world. It is nearly impossible to hold the tears back, and the lump in your throat. It will almost make a person break down in convulsive sobs because the message, and the tight and haunting harmonies, are so stirring. It is supernaturally mesmerizing.

I've been struggling to believe in God for years. Still am, but I know that if there is a heaven, this is what I hope to hear when I arrive there. One of the sweetest melodies ever, sung by four of the most beautifully talented women in existence, each note heartbreakingly precise it creates an extremely bittersweet image, and I can't think of a rendition of this song that's made me feel anything close to this. Brava, Celtic Woman.

Recommend read the Gospel of John, the first chapter is not the easiest, but I think it is the Gospel that really lays out the story of Christ most plainly, and how God reconciles us to Himself through all that Jesus has done for us. He did not have to go to the cross, He willingly chose to.

I suggest you do some soul searching and make an informed decision. The bible is one of the worst books to have been written for so many reasons. How can you stand by a book that was formed from only a portion of the divinely inspired gospels? Yes, the Catholic Church went through and picked out what they liked and the rest were tossed. Many parts of the bible have been tampered with by those who assembled it as well as by the countless scribes who copied and recopied this tome over the centuries. When we look at the oldest version of the bible the Codex Sianaticus we find that the gospel of John ends well before it does in modern bibles. Jesus appears before some ladies in his tomb and are told to tell no one. Every other thing was added by the church to make it more worthy of an institution seeking to control the entire world. In fact, the date of the last part of the bible is estimated to have been added several hundred years after the death of Jesus and scribed by the church itself. Most people go though and find what they like and shove it in the faces of others while somehow “forgetting” the parts they don’t like. If you accept the bible and the fact that you are expected to live by it then (this is just a small part of many, many parts of the bible that are ignored today) women not only are not allowed the position of pastor or preacher but are not even allowed to speak inside a church. Indeed it seems that the lord is a sexist who thinks that men should be in charge of everything and that slavery is not only acceptable, but says that slaves should be happy with their lot in life. A deity capable of creating a universe should be expected to be both omniscient and prescient; therefore, knowing how the future will unveil itself must be upset indeed. It is quite strange that such a being is surprised and upset over so many things that happen. I find it equally odd that the knowledge he transmitted through such fallible vessels strangely favored men, and especially those involved with the church. One would think that knowledge communicated to us would not be open to change, and further us being his favored children above all others as proven by his allowing the sacrifice of his son that he (please don’t offer the idea that a women gave forth the gospel that so strongly put them in a place of drudgery) has been strangely reticent throughout the centuries. Of course, any time a natural disaster strikes there are those who place the blame on the lord’s wrath. You would expect him to get tired of that crap after a while and to at least start smiting a few of these people or at least the famous preachers who stray from the path so far and steal and fornicate with prostitutes

Austin; The belief in God is often very difficult. And even those determined and dedicated to it, it can be a struggle at times. One of the best salesmen evil has, quite honestly, are people claiming faith but not living it. In the case of Christianity, we have been warned about hypocrisy (oh how this disturbed the Lord) and self righteousness as all people fail to measure up. There is a passage in Matthew 7, vs 21-23 where false disciples are given warning. If you search, you will find. There just was never given an assured time frame. And we generally have short-term human expectations. There is so much that goes wrong in the world, sometimes it really is difficult to see how any god much less God could permit suffering, pain, loss, violence and all of the things this world binds us to. But perhaps, much of that is permitted so that good people, true disciples can spread love and healing as a contrast to such darkness. I myself don't have all the answers, but I know one who does. Konichi Wawa dude, you're just plain flat dead wrong. The Bible will inform you and change your life for the better if actually read it cover to cover and live by it, ha. Nothing else in this world even comes close to the deep wisdom or consistency of purpose you find in the Bible. Moreover, through faith in Messiah Jesus, God makes it happen in your life on a daily basis. Every day of my life has been better since I gave my life to Jesus when I was 16. He never promised a rose garden, to quote the old song, but He makes all the difference in our lives when we walk with Him and He watches over us. You're just plain sad in all your self importance and disdain, which will take you nowhere. I sincerely hope you will give your heart to God through faith in Jesus (John 14:6, 3:16) and know His glory. It's the only thing that lights this dark world.

Beware of the Snake in the Grass/The wolf in Sheep’s clothing; Faith is a lot like playing a musical instrument. Some naturally take to it easier than others but it takes practice and study; but first desire. You have to want to learn. And sometimes you drop a note or break a string. The problem with so many goats walking about, is they often run with the sheep so much they don’t know they are goats, and worse, people looking to learn can’t separate the goats from the sheep. Well, we learn to judge a tree by its fruit. It was said a good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good. My dad has passed a way but he used to say, ‘Don’t so much watch what people say but what they do. One is more telling than the other.’ I want to avoid the works and faith discussion to return to my original truth offered. Everyone has moments of doubts and strengths. In one of my favorite stories in the Bible is the Book of Job. In summary, God and the Devil make a bet, that Job (a good man) could be turned away from God. God allows the Devil to test Job’s metal with some horrible things. But the two things I made note of are these; 1) in Job 1 and 2 when the people came together to pray to God, the devil came with them, God asked, where ya been, Devil responds, walking the earth back and forth and up and down on it and 2) when the Devil came after Job to turn him against God, he came as Job’s wife and friends - quoting and misapplying scripture (kinda like those goats). The other thing to remember other than the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge and central to being honest in your heart that doubts can exist at times is learned from Thomas after the resurrection of the Lord. No doubt you heard the expression “doubting Thomas”, well, one of the Lord’s chosen 12 was a hard sell. When the risen Jesus met Thomas on the road, Thomas didn’t recognize him at first until the Lord told him, ‘Thomas, come feel the holes in my hands. Put your hand in the hole in my side.’ Thomas then knew he was the Lord because Thomas had said he would not believe the Lord rose unless he put his fingers and hand in the holes; and what is important to note, Jesus was already crucified and gone by then. Jesus didn’t scold Thomas for his doubt, he loved him. He understands we are people and subject to doubt but like Job, we do need to learn and study over the years so that when Evil comes misquoting scripture that we can differentiate sheep and goats. The path to Glory is very narrow and few find it, wide is the gate to being lost; it is easy to be pulled off course - even when you think you are home free. The Lord could say to the waters be calm, and they obeyed Him. Do you not think he could have owned the 12’s minds at a snap of the fingers? But like the guitar, he took time to learn and understand. And, they got a lot wrong. And we see the promise literally to the end, the last book in the bible - Revelation 3:19 and 20, He says ‘Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.’ Trying to stay on path, you will be corrected, but just ask, that is all He needs to get it going. Much relies on you. People simply make a choice - what type of life they wish to live. I have reached the end of this thread.

It is, in my mind, THE definitive arrangement and performance of this song. The harmonies are stunning, the performance is practically impeccable, and the emotion they imbue is just wonderful. Even subsequent performances by Celtic Woman, while excellent, have not measured up to this one. Despite having heard it probably dozens of times, I still often tear up at the sheer beauty of it. Exquisite!
