My grandmother passed at 84 about 6 years ago, in a time that couldn't have gotten any worse for me with also having lost a girl friend (edit: even though we had not been talking for months already, it still stung all the same) shortly before that, and so even though September is my birth month, I feel some bittersweet memories from this month. It is a very emotional one for me. That said, neither my grandmother nor former girlfriend, were Irish or Scottish, both had this performed for their funerals. I'd prefer to have "Time of your Life (Good Riddance)" by Green Day sung at my funeral, but this was all a very touching rendition that brought me back to those two tough times. Still is a sweet but bittersweet song for me. The guy who sang at both funerals was an older, kind Irish man and he also died recently. Of old age I believe. Can you guess the song they used at his burial? The very same one he sang for so many deceased people before.

Shows how many different selections of lyrics are chosen from who knows what lyric reference ..... The phrase " ALL THE ROSES FALLING" is likely more accepted as in the next verse "FLOWERS DYING" is the often used ... and herein it is "LEAVES ARE DYING " - which I never heard of in any context - so quite liberal interpretation apparently. Best and most importantly - Jim McCann does a nice job in delivery and pace of the song ... accompaniment is well down as well. GBjj

Easy Tony, This song was written by an Englishmen over there hundred years ago an has Been rewritten and remade hundreds of times over. Made famous worldwide by the Irish folk artist in 1917 ❤
@tonygudgeon18398 ай бұрын
@@mrburkescarpentryclassqhs5452 Means nothing at all mate and it doesn’t change the origins of the song, It wasn’t made famous by Irish folk singers at all, The Irish and Scottish seem to claim it as there national song for some weird reason when there’s no real connection apart from it’s been sung a few times from people from them countries, I agree it’s been sung time and time again by many different artist around the world but it was made famous by the fella who wrote it and sung it, If I asked you who sang Danny Boy you wouldn’t be able to answer cause soo many people everywhere have sung it same as if someone asked me who sang Danny Boy I’d say Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Jackie Wilson etc. cause in my opinion they made the best versions but it doesn’t make it an American song, You understand?

I'm going to listen out of respect, but I HATE this song sooo much, I can't put my finger on exactly why, I think maybe it's too dull and droney. Each to their own and no disrespect at all to anyone to which this song is really important, in fact massive respect, but you know when a song feels like nails down a chalkboard LOL

Honestly try singing it for yourself sometime. The melody is basically perfect.
