Chelsea will be kicking themselves that they didn’t leave with at least a 2 goal lead. Tuchel fielded sufficient outlets to improve their build-up and they punished Madrid in transition. They dominated for large periods, this RM side was there for the taking against Liverpool and for the 2nd UCL game in a row they were pressed off the park, and that allowed Chelsea to control the game. It helped that Madrid's technical level was shocking.

Chelsea didn't kill the Madrid midfield. Zidane killed the midfield with his formation. Instead of modric playing in the middle he was playing on the right covering up the space that Asensio or Rodrygo would have covered if they played. Even when pressing. He was over there instead of the center. Giving Casemiro more work to do coz we all know Kross doesn't help much when it's time to defend.

I think Chelsea would want to press Madrid in the early stages of the ofense to disrupt Kroos and Modric ability to create.
