I disagree with the holding technique that is shown. Relying on a parent to hold for a blood draw is never a good idea. They are always more concerned with comforting the child rather than holding the arm still. Also, asking the parent to hold underneath the elbow not only can change the location of the vein, but exposes them to a potential needle stick. I've worked at many different hositals with very different techniques. I've found the technique used at Boston Children's Hospital works the best.
