And they didn't do anything about it. We are dealing with similar stuff here in Louisiana. I hope this opens everyones eyes everywhere. My heart goes out to these people. They didn't ask for any of this to happen. In 2016 I lost my house and all my livestock to a freak flood. I never saw any of that even possible. Maybe if the Mississippi River broke, but not from 3 days of rain.

@The Tick that is just it. You always wonder why someone is willing to pay a couple hundred thousand dollars to win an electction, that is just about it. They are planning on making all of that money back plus interest. I watched a former Governor of Louisiana go to jail for 10 years. Now what really made me angry, it was the other guy with him that got off without even a slap on his hand!!! This was Edwin Edwards and Cleo Fields in Baton Rouge Louisiana. They had a camera setup in the governors office and showed money changing hands. You would think this would have been taken care of while he was in office, no it was a few years after that the public even found out. It makes me sick to my stomach to watch the people that we are supposed to trust rip is off the most. I know this has nothing to do with Michigan but I'm pretty sure that it happens everywhere.

@Ethan Weeter you are right. Even after Katrina hit, they haven't don't anything to prepare for the next one to hit. I had to work down there in the sickest part. It stunk, their were so many dead animals and I took it for about a month and had to quit. Hell one of the guys on my crew was working on a cell tower and got shot in the damn leg by some idiot. We were down there trying to get cell phone services back so people could call that were stuck in their attics and could not get out. Also the national guard and state troopers needed them to talk as well. We all started carring guns and had escorts everywhere we went. But yeah, I know exactly what you are saying. I won't NEVER go back down to the cesspool called New Orleans again for any reason.

There are a lot of things wrong with America's budgeting, but 1. The Edenville dam isn't owned by the public. It was privately owned. 2. This was due to record breaking rainfall which saw the Tittabawassee River break its all-time height record by over 4 feet. 3. The repairs to the dam would have cost tens of millions of dollars, which tax payers aren't willing to pay for.

When I was living the, "good old days," I was well aware that those were the good days and it was only going to get worse. I lived and enjoyed every breath I took in preparation for 2000 and later. My good old days were 1985 to 1998. I was fortunate enough to realise it and make them even better by expecting them to go away and never return. 2000 to present have been nothing but disappointment after disappointment, hate, conflict, bad governments, politicians trying to micromanage everything, and special interest groups controlling everything. I miss the days of majority rules, when people minded their own business, and politicians were politicians not wannabe scientists, health professionals, family counselors, teachers, and tiny dictators. I have hated every year past 2000. So 2019 was no better nor worse than this year has been. Many times I think Merv Heemyer did not do enough. I will take donations to make the ultimate political cleansing vehicle and make it bigger and stronger than Merv's, if anybody wants to help. The enormous blade in the front will say, "Merv was right!"

@K S The stimulus Obama put in place saved the economy. 20 million jobs were saved. There was a huge deficit under Bush that he had to fix. In order to save the economy, you need to spend money. The economy was in an upswing the last 27 months of his presidency and unemployment went from 10% to 5%. Then Trump came and took credit for all of it despite adding another trillion to the debt with his corporate/billionaire tax cuts.

Against the state? The dams were privately owned. They were about to be sold to the county when these breaches happened. And what good would suing the state do when the owners of the dam were repeatedly cited by federal regulators for not having the necessary amount of spillways to prevent total failure? The owner just ignored them, basically deciding paying the fines were cheaper than repairing and maintaining these nearly 100 year old structures. The Edenville Dam had its license to generate hydro power revoked in 2018 due to these failures.

no, you have to realize there is a bit of time delay, because english is not directly translated word-for-word, and word-order for word-order into ASL- it takes a little thought to translate from one to the other. for example, "i am going to the store. do you want to come with me?" is glossed as "store i go. you want go yes?", or "you're late to the party" (as in, i'm not retelling the story i just told) is translated as a completely different idiom: "train gone, sorry" ...you have to hear a lot, if not most of the sentence, before you can start figuring out how to translate it. translators are about a sentence or so behind the speaker. ...so while i am not proficient enough to know what the "get the blood flowing back in your hands 'cuz they went numb" action meant (and for all i know, it may have been just that), i do know that it's in reference to the sentence before the clip began, so we didn't hear what she was translating (or missed the fact that she's been signing for the past several hours and her hands went numb). (and since we're on the topic of language, "effect" is the verb that happens, "affect" is the people that it happens to... "the special effects were so great, they affected the audience's emotions" :D)

The dams did not fail. The dam design worked as designed. The earthen areas are designed to let extra water out that the gates can not handle. The problem was an extreme raining the earthen overflows are designed to breach slowly so the main dam concrete structures do not suddenly give away. This is a perfectly designed overflow. The dam was not breached. The overflow handled the extra waters as it should have and no one died as a result.

Jesus Christ is the Only Savior! Repent! Tell Michigan to Remove that Satanic Structure in Detroit. Continuing With the Following Consistent Message A Prayer and A Message to All Dear Father in Heaven, please give salvation, comfort, strength, and hope to all who mourn the passing of the deceased and heal the sick (according to Your blessed will and purpose O God). In the mighty Name of Jesus Christ Your blessed and holy Son. Thank You dear God. Amen. Dear ones, please repent and surrender to Christ so that you can be saved from God's Wrath and inherit eternal life. The blessed Lord shall soon return. Amen. God is calling the world to turn from sin and follow Jesus Christ. Amen. God is Not Trying to Save The World He's Trying to Save You Many people are missing the entire point of the disasters that God is sending to Earth. The Hurricanes, the tornadoes, the earthquakes, the typhoons, the cyclones, the tsunamis, and why He's allowing the wars and rumours of wars to happen: These are all signs of the end times, my friend, and God is not trying to save this world, but He's trying to save you out of the world. He's trying to save you so that you can be ready when Jesus Christ returns because God is going to destroy this world and make a new one. So quit trying to be so ready for things to get back to normal because if one thing goes away, God is going to send something else to get people's attention. Many people who saw 9/11 died in Hurricane Katrina. Many people who saw Katrina died in the Las Vegas mass shooting. Many people saw what happened in Puerto Rico died of the Coronavirus. Folks, there are things that God is trying to wake up the world with so the world can realize that God is in charge and serve Him because He's coming back. He's not playing. The worst thing you can experience is eternal damnation in Hell. So quit thinking it's business as usual. Your Sin business should be over. It's time to serve the Lord! Amen. Apostle Thaddeus The Ministry of Pure Truth All glory be to GOD forever 🙌🙏📖 Praise CHRIST JESUS forever 🙌🙏📖 Hallelujah HOLY SPIRIT forever 🙌🙏📖
