Thank you. It has been memorable, and for the most part, a lot of fun.

@@weFishAU I bet it has been. The big boat you showed a picture of what size was that one?

43 feet. 13m. The old man and I built it. Took 15 months, every weekend and holiday. I was very sorry for it to go but changes work/life balance meant that it wasn't being used enough to justify keeping it. Still, trailer boats are also good.

I remember setting up a tent for an overnighter on Bird Island. First went there back in the early 70's and it was quite large-ish. Used to hang around that area in the early 80's and it was as shown on your photo. Was sad to see it diminish over the years. I think it was back around 6-8 years ago that the last of the sad looking trees fell into the sea. BTW, we used to go for a feed of oysters on the rocky ridge that was exposed between Bird and Goat at low tide. Wouldn't be game to do that now. Too much pollution. Come to think of it, there was probably plenty of pollution back then too. I recall the dump that was on the beach at Point Halloran. God knows what's buried under there and leaching into the sea...

I never did overnight on Bird, but from the mid 60's it was a nice place to stop and have a swim. A great pity that it has disappeared. The oyster bed was fairly popular even back then, there was never a time when you couldn't get a good feed but there were times when you had to look around a bit to find the big ones.
