Central Oregon's most scenic hike? - Todd Lake, Broken Top, Green Lakes, Soda Creek

This video describes the approximately 25 or 26 mile semi-loop backpacking trip starting at Todd Lake trail head. We spent one night camping at Green Lakes. We took Todd Trail to Broken Top Trail and headed east to the unofficial trail up to the lake and ridge viewpoint on Broken Top Mountain. We then back tracked along the Broken Top Trail to Green Lakes for the night, a trip of about 15 miles. The next morning we took Green Lakes Trail, along Fall Creek, down to the Green Lakes trail head where we picked up the Soda Creek Trail. We took Soda Creek Trail back up to Todd trail and Todd Trail back to our starting point, a hike of about 11 miles. All four trails are very scenic with views of the Cascades all the way to Mount Adams from the ridge on Broken Top. There is plenty of water all along this route.

Thanks, Tom. I spent a beautiful night up in the middle of Broken Top and it was quite an experience to watch a full moon trace it's way over Bachelor and then west. Unforgettable. Thanks for the tour thru the country side. I'm inspired to go back!

I just did this hike from Todd Lake. Glad I’m not the only one who got confused at some trail junctions. I ended up at the BT parking lot on my way down - I did the 14 mile day hike. It was a wonderful hike!

I've hiked green lakes trail but not this one yet. What month did you go? I like the snow up at the lake. This one is on my short list for sure. Last question is how many miles round trip? Great video! Really enjoyed it. Keep on hiking!

Do you see much wildlife when hiking and backpacking in Oregon?

We see a fair amount of deer and smaller animals. We saw a black bear last year on a trail near Paulina Lake.
