Chris Thomas Thanks, that’s what I meant. Our company only promotes or hires white people for management positions. They tweak the job description so that it meets the requirements of the person they have in mind (usually a friend within their network). They did this to me twice after I applied for a promotion (updated the job requirements and re-posted it after they found out I threw my hat in). They did a survey last year where one of the questions was about racism in the workplace. I remember thinking how will this flag anything when 70% of the staff is white? It makes me feel powerless because I can’t call it out.

My granddaughter and I were at a grocery checkout and we overheard a white man saying awful things to a black woman in line ahead of him. She finally had enough of his abuse and told him so - as she should have. BUT, then the store manager, not having heard what the man was saying, tried to kick the woman out of the store.
