Ive watched the clip like 10 times now. HOLY CRAP! Steam from appliances, snifters, and blow down. Proper smoke affects. Bridge piers, telegraph wires, a work train required for building track? Whistles with echo, quill and with the steam coming from the proper location. Looks like steam leaking from packing on engines as well. The different kind of trees! CUTS! The white Pass diesels. I cannot stress the amazing smoke affects, how its the right amount and how it drifts. TUNNELS. CUTS! Passenger cars. POLING. What game has had POLING?! Thats entirely new and awesome and Ive always wanted that. Glenbrook, Eureka, k28s, k37, DSP and P engines. Steamships with a pier, giving off major carson and tahoe vibes. I cant get over how the smoke looks. GUYS, YES. This has to succeed.

@@THEFINALHAZARD Well it sounds like they're mostly focusing on narrow gauge, unfortunately if you were hoping otherwise. There's just so much standard gauge stuff out there to cover in one game like this. But maybe community made stuff, or even official stuff later on may incorporate some amount of standard gauge. If standard is more your speed, perhaps you'd be interested in Railroader, coming out later this year.

The people making it are doing it out of passion. The "President" of Studio 346 actually works at the Colorado Railroad Museum, and specifically works with their steam locomotives, 346 and 491.

I know that. Hyce also stated he is only playing a small part in the creation and development of the game. From what I'm noticing is that most of the people making this game seem to be people who have left the dev team of railroads online. They're making the game the way railroads online should've been.

I can't stop nerding about all of details in this teaser! Whistles sound breathtaking! The steam and smoke interacting with terain is so immersive. (I hate when in other games those simply glitching through models/terrain) Diesel engines, suply cars (hope to build the railway by hand piece by piece) passenger cars, tunnels, seasons??? KZbinr Hyce brought me here, this is one of the most stunning train games I have ever seen. Even better than games like the latest Trainz simulators and Train Sim World Series. This world just feels so alive and vibrant. And thank you for making the whistles quillable, something I’ve always wanted in more train games, brings so much more authenticity to the locomotives. The steam description was right, as soon as I heard that first whistle quilling, I’m already hooked. 😂 Wish you all the very best full steam ahead for this project’s success.

A friend many months ago told me that "ohh in this video Hyce made when he quits as community manager for RO, you can tell he's hinting at making a new game" And I just was like "bah, you're reading too much into it -" Cut to today, and he reveals that he knew the whole time. He saw the dev team at the Virginia and Truckee, guessed from context clues they were making their own game, and has kept it a secret this whole time and was trying to subtly hint at it xD

I just cant get the theme song of this AWESOME TRAILER out of my head. I just love steam engines and they will always be a part of my life so when I saw this trailer and herd about the game that is being made I could not help but feel like these historic trains you will be putting in the game were calling to me with their Legendary Whistles. Since then I have not stopped listening to the trailer's killer tune mixed in with the whistle calls of those steam engines that keep reminding me of the glory days of the "Golden Age of Steam".

The nice thing about their system in the game, is that you won't just buy the exact specific historic locomotive, they want it to be like how it actually was back in the day, where you go to the builder, specify a model you want, and then what features you want with the model. This way you can recreate historic locomotives, and whole new ones however you want.

As epic as this looks, i hope the experience of RRO teaches you guys some often forgotten truths: - Modding support is required if you want this to last. - pretty graphics should come second to the authentic gameplay experience, and don't be afraid to put quality of life over immersion. I know these are probably obvious, but to have rro on Steam and not make use of the workshop was a criminal misstep, and derail valley/space engineers/Assetto Corsa have proven that mods can keep a game alive even after the developer has moved on 😊

I wasn't citing them as examples of the Devs moving on. The only game that's true of is Assetto Corsa, hence why it's last in the list, it was part of the train of thought mentioning the game brought to mind.

A trailer I can watch over and over and every time I feel more excited about it. Don't get me wrong, I invested a lot of time into Railroads Online, but THIS, damn, actual cities, passanger services, tunnels, the list goes on. The world looks so much more lively and real, I don't feel empty in a forest. I hope you guys will give a tutorial on how to play the game since RR Online didn't and it was quite tricky to get started. Can't wait for the release, I'm buying it 100%

I’d say so. It’s obvious these people know what they’re doing.

It's not fully revealed at this time. The people who modeled for railroads online reserve the copyright for their models, and so some of the modeling work is going to be used in this game. As for the simulation, that's yet to be revealed. All we know, from an early video release for patrons, is that they've got a _very_ advanced whistle simulation, so I'd expect a similar level of dedication for firing and operating locomotives, perhaps with difficulty options like derail valley.

You can tell that the people making this game love trains. Sadly, while many of us have enjoyed Railroads Online, its obvious that the people making it aren't really railfans. But gosh... we have this, Derail Valley, Railroader, and Highball, and you can tell the people making these games love the sensory experience, the indescribable minutia of railroading.

An interesting tidbit, the way they say they want to do this, is that it isn't like "you buy this historic locomotive and then can make some small modifications" - Instead, you actually buy the engine the way they really would back then, buying a locomotive model and then saying what kinds of features you want. This way you can choose to create historic locomotives accurately, or you can go off and have a ton of freedom in what your locomotive roster looks like.

I signed up for the patreon where they have a video for patrons on the whistles in the game and they show in game footage. This video will be released for everyone else about a month from now. For context - the people making this worked on the game railroads online. They had tons of ideas for how to make that game awesome - adding cool new gameplay, making things historically accurate, making the simulation more realistic - and the dev just ignored their suggestions, took their volunteer modeling and coding work without paying them or listening to any advice, just poorly communicated, made dumb decisions that added more bugs to the game and made the game less fun... The game is in a better state today, but bottom line is - The guys making this actually care about their community. They aren't like the devs of Railroads Online, making a simulation game that just happens to be about trains, they're actual railfans, they're people who work on real historic railroads. They are talented modelers, coders, musicians, etc. They love railroading and want to bring it to life in their dream game.
