This was basically a product of them being stuck at home with more time on their hands than usually due to the pandemic and starting to experiment a bit with things. this got better as it went on. but i didnt realize until almost when the death vocals came in, the guitars were very much Insomnium. im just not used to hearing them acoustic. if this song were on Since The Day It All Came Down, i dont think i'd question it. They are good but I agree. I want that feel I got from the first five albums again. They lost a step after peaking with one for sorrow imo. Still and prob always will be my fav melodeath band and I'll see them anytime they're close but the spark seems to be fading. Last time I saw them life they were visibly annoyed w each other on stage (some shithole Chicago suburb in 2018). The vibe just isn't quite the same anymore. And a thumbnail of a chick's ass? Come on dudes. I know you've still got in in you. Give us that epic fucking gloom again.

I love the old-school Insomnium. I know about them "since the day it all came down" album and it is great music. But I love much more their newer music. It is music for the soul. This year while I was in the hospital, and I could barely move, they released the reticent and I listened to it a lot there. They played the Promethean song in their acoustic set, and I suggested it on their Instagram. I don't know if they did it because I asked lol, but these dudes deserve heaven or hell whatever they believe in. I love these dudes and will forever be grateful for their music and existence. And this will probably be my favourite song of 2021

I would recommend Heart like a Grave from their most recent album. The entirety of Winter's Gate (1 song album, 40 minutes of bliss) While We Sleep is insanely good and has a very hauntingly beautiful video. From the older albums I would recommend One For Sorrow, Journey Unknown, Black Waters, Through the Shadows, and Weather the Storm. But, they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong.

Yeah ruined the video for me too, this sort of thing feels like a cheap attention grab and the worst part is that insomnium doesn't need to do that at all. In a world where everyone is competing for the most over the top thing....especially on the internet seeing this happen to one of my favorite bands is really disappointing. Maybe she's just a friend and they wanted to help her get some exposure for her modeling/contortionist career....who knows, but for me it's meh.
