If you take alot of niacin your body can break down and absorb energy drinks at insane speeds. So he can drink all that red bull and coffee then he ramps his body up into a state where he can absorb it all and get super hyper and he has to keep taking them or he will crash. You can thank china for that. I was supervisor for 3 months at a disorganised hellhole. The customer reviews on our fridges.... 6 months before most blew up. The electrician doing warranties there told me about 2 products, one type that had 100% dead thermostats right out of the container, and another kind of mini drinks fridge. Out of about 5000, there was ONE LEFT still running. That one was in the showroom, the sole survivor after 3 years. There were donuts fryers of which NOT ONE had lasted more than 6 months. These were ALL COMMERCIAL cooking equipment. All utter crap. We had an oven that was like $30,000 and one blew up within WEEKS from new. The customer was pissed and they worked hours of overtime trying to fix it.

The part with him spilling the coffee and then raging the fuck out on his computer gets me everytime because I relate to that so heavily. Whoever wrote this sketch must have anger issues themselves because that's exactly what happens when you cross ocd and anger. One spill of coffee on your shirt and it's, "fuck it, might as well spill the whole cup on myself and then rage out and break everything expensive in sight because fuck it, it's all fucked now, everything is absolutely fucked because I dribbled coffee on my shirt and things are now slightly suboptimal so I'm burning it all the fuck down now. Ok I've watched this like 10 times and just noticed the compound bow next to the desk, lol! Also, the way Nick says "No?" is so perfectly innocent and genuine, yet slightly confrontational. I like to imagine that perhaps they were friends before they got into business together, and now Nick is, if anything, just concerned for his old chum from college or wherever.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years and I’m only recently thinking of expanding. The idea of employing people has always stalled me and I wonder what’s the point. This sketch has always felt like a prophecy to me. Your comment has really made me think seriously about what to do. Maybe I should ask Sam and Nick for confirmation. 🤝

As much as I rewatch and laugh at this, this was exactly how I was starting to become at a job I recently left (on good terms) and felt trapped in (health issues and lack of credentials for other work). It was the first time I went in with the intent to really try and grow into a career however the fruit never came. No details need to be given but I started some days just like him walking into his office here. I laugh and feel the hard memories 50/50. MDE is so surreal and genius at everything. WP2 will be wild, especially knowing there won’t be ANY interference given it’s independent. MDE never dies.

This is in the God tier of WP1 sketches, along with the sketch of Nick as a depressed school teacher who flies away on a noose over a pop-punk band, and "The man who was never what they would make him to be" with Charls. WP1 wasn't just funny, it had a literary edge. WP1 was as close as we'll get to a modern Twilight Zone (and considering Tim Heidecker's forgotten "Bedtime stories" project, he is probably resentful of this fact).

@@strangebrew1231 well erik hayden and andrew ruse were both friends with charls from childhood. Sam and nick were friends since childhood. Makes sense the groups would come together this way after the the entire scene got the rug snatched from under their feet. In fact charls originally worked as a mason for erik's company irl back when everyone in the MDE crew still had jobs and were doing skits during their freetime. Out of everyone Sam and Andrew are doing the best. Sam has grown his independent operation well into the 7 figure income brackets and employs like 10 full time people for editing and filming etc. Andrew has been climbing the hollywood ladder and directing more and more mainstream stuff for big dollars. Nick has been independently wealthy for years so his passive income to be in Sam's material isn't really needed anymore he does it because he enjoys making comedy. Erik Hayden has had a very successful construction company for many years. Started it way before ever doing anything MDE related. Charls works at this same company and makes a modest amount on the side from patron's and his small fiercely loyal social media following who pay monthly subscription fees to have access to his "charlsworld" site. I used to sub to his site but he has very very little in terms of content and usually just promises to make new stuff "next month" but never actually following thru. It seems without Sam and Nick to bounce ideas off of Charls just procrastinates and produces very disjointed nonsense that isn't funny in the same way MDE classic is. His material is the definition of schizo-posting and really only makes me laugh when he seems to be doing a character bit based on those self help guru types of crackpots online 😂 unfortunately over time it has become apparent that it isn't a bit or character and Charls really is just a manic schizo at his core.

I'd like to think the reason the car goes from a Mercedes to a Buick is because on his way to work, he may feel slightly successfully and feels like he's driving a nicer high brand vehicle but the closer he gets to work and dread builds. Once he arrives reality sets in that he drives the average Buick suv that every other soccer mom has, adding to his mental misery

@@nnggghhaa3709 100% depends if you have the gift and luck on your side. Hard work is simply an automatic requirement but not a key to success. The guys who succeed and live well have a natural instict for business and, most importantly, are in the good grace of good company, i.e they have good employees/partners and rock solid relationships with investors and benificiaries. Hard work is a part of owning a business, but having the right skillset, product, and employee base turns the work from a nightmarish mountain of floundering stress into something navigatable and fulfilling. CEOs and founders aren't workaholics because they like crappy work, they're workaholics because they're good at what they do and the work they do is inherently fun for them because they succeed in it. Basically: if you start with a good product, a good plan, and know the right people, starting a business is the best journy one can undertake. If your product isn't competetive, if you lack a vision, and don't know how to choose good people, you are going to end up like Eric

*read the update at the bottom* My last employer was this exact character, except he lived it. Every. single. day. I always wondered how you could hate a job so much but keep coming back for more. So I asked him, he said he needs the pay cheque. Eventually the day drinking to make it through the day combined with undiagnosed diabetes and other health issues caught up with him and he had a heart attack. He left the job shortly after. *Edit* just an update, I had an ex-coworker call me yesterday. He asked what the last time I talked to the (last employer) I said quite awhile ago. Anyway turns out (the last employer) has been given 18 months to live due to kidney failure and other stuff. So that's pretty crappy, but puts life into perspective, make sure what you doing is really worth your time and effort. If it's not for you, that's ok no need to be there.

Ah man, the bit where he downs the red bull and coffee...too relatable. I've gotten to the point of drinking half a litre of coldbrew concentrate in the mornings before work...I don't day drink but being in a stressful job that isn't a good fit, and making it fit...it's rough, but it's something I fell into, kept getting promoted because I work hard, but didn't really choose it. But before you know it you're hyper specialised for that role, you have 5 years in an industry, a mortgage and at 30 it's not just as simple as sacking it off and being prepared to start at the bottom somewhere, it becomes a vicious cycle!
