Well, the US is the size of Europe itself. On top of that, we as a single country have nearly 330mil people, and we also have a LOT of open roads and space in some areas. Since we're a car-based country, we have to make sure there's enough charging stations before EV's take over, or people will get upset waiting to charge at the ''few'' charging stations vs. how many EV cars there are being used. You have the benefit of both a smaller population, and not being big on cars as we are here.

It's stupid that GM cancelled the Bolt. I got a used 2013 Leaf several years ago and am still happy with it even with some reduction in battery range. If you're just commuting, save your money and get a Leaf or other EV with a small battery. Or do what I did and take a job closer to home and ride an electric bike, especially if you have trails to keep you away from the cars. The one I got has fat tires which has been fine even with moderate snow and ice. It's more enjoyable than driving.

Barra, I think it would be better to develop a more diverse range of models. Europe still needs compact cars because the houses and roads are old. The same goes for Asian countries. it doesnt need Toyota's style electric car, but I think it needs a mid-sized or light-duty car

I would make the same argument as you but for a different reason in America. Most Americans can't afford a $50,000, 60,000 or 70,000 vehicle. So small, well built (to last 10 years or more), great gas mileage or EV range and affordable. Will never happen.

1:35 "Why is there still such high demand for used cars?" The question is as out of touch with reality as the answer: "If there's still demand for new vehicles and you can't get one, you go to the used car market." This is when I quit and moved on.
@dsddala467
@dsddala467 11 ай бұрын
Yep. High demand in the used market is because there isn't infrastructure for most suburban and rural citizens to charge an EV AND the average worker cannot afford a new car with groceries up 30%, power bills increasing, rent astronomical , and health care eating more and more of our budget. I could never and more importantly WOULD NEVER pay the kind of money it takes to buy a new car of any kind, that will lose 30% of its value the minute you drive it off the lot via depreciation. Nope. It will be used for me from here on out. And none of that even touches on all the electronic BS they are putting in these vehicles like the car taking over for the driver, autonomous driving and spying on people. I hate my electric push start in my 2014 vehicle I bought with 30K miles on it. I am going backward to an early 00 or late 1990's vehicle for my next purchase.

@@truthhurts9246 No, it isn't. Registration of new vehicles in Europe show that there are now more battery electric cars than diesels being registered. Also, electric vehicles are 70% cheaper to run than petrol fuelled cars - that is $0.04 per km for petrol cars vs $0.14 per km for EV's (or free if you have roof solar). That is a saving of about $1,600 saved per year, on average. That's why EV sales have increased by over 40% in one year. Furthermore, EV's are predicted to reach price parity by 2024, and by 2030 many countries plan to ban the sale of internal combustion cars.
