I just completed my first Danger 5 run and it was on this Farmer with 6xPruners - this was easily one of the best runs I've ever had and the famer just tore through everything, I didn't even have to move and had so much cash I had to reroll like 10 times to get rid of it.

Cyborg is my favorite screwdriver class. When all your ranged damage converts to engineering your screwdrivers do decent damage and you get soo many mines.

I love the flamethrower. One interesting run I had with it was on the doctor. The attack speed loss is largely negligible, it still cleared wonderfully. One particularly nice synergy with the flamethrower is the giants belt. I have had the combo on several occasions and the flamethrower ends up passing 20k damage on the final wave when it happens.

yeah great item for the flamethrower for sure!

Just had the craziest finish ever with the Farmer in Abyssal Terrors. I built up to 903 Harvesting after wave 17, then I locked a Gatling Laser thinking maybe I'd find even a little bit of Ranged Dmg for the last 2 waves. Then I killed an elite on wave 18...and it dropped an Axiotl, which let me swap my 903 Harvesting with my Ranged Dmg, and it was glorious!!! Took out the 2 wave 20 bosses in 3 seconds flat!

I just noticed that at the end of the wave, when consumables come to you, you get the added Harvesting if you're at full health. Pretty cool.
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
Yeah! That's why it's so important to stay at full health. It's still better to pick them up, because then the harvesting (and compound interest) from them triggers on that wave as well, the ones you get at the end you have to wait until the next wave to get value. That's true for any consumable trigger though, ie. crates with bag you still get the 15, and you still get the explosion damage on glutton etc

Important here to note that pruners fall off in a big way as waves progress. I like transitioning out of them altogether on farmer when lategame starts
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
Very true! If we hadn't found the flamethrower so early, I'd definitely have needed to look out for another way to make sure my damage was keeping up with the waves
@AugustVonpetersborg Жыл бұрын
What, no they don't, they upgrade incredibly well, attacking almost as fast as a knife, getting 100% melee scaling, and 2x crit modifier when you get them to legendary, that's a better overall statline than the majority of legendary level common melee weapons. A fully upgraded pruner is a solidly A tier weapon, they only suck in the early game.
@stevenape3775 ай бұрын
Well, lvl 4 pruners have reasonable damage scaling and critical damage, and you end up being so rich that you can boost all relevant attack stats, so it ends up being extremely powerful. I killed the final elites with just pruners very quickly, and I hadn't even built critical hit chance.
@Hellios922 ай бұрын
I have to disagree, Pruner's melee damage scaling goes up to 1.0 on tier 4, crit goes up to 2x. I kept my Pruners till the end and I was close to invincible when fighting the bosses :D I first thought Farmer was a pretty weak class, but after a sometimes rocky start he cumulates so much harvesting that he can hardly be stopped.

Keeping pruners in the endgame is not needed. You can swap to something that will keep you alive/kill. The majority of your harvest gains past wave 14 will be from the 8% gain, not from the pickups

I got an excalibur, 3 paddings, and a stomach, plus a punch of pick up range. It was legendary, got to wave 49. Passed aliens eyes right at the end, they 19mil for me. Build was crazy.
@happitiger Жыл бұрын
This build was particularly hard for me and I had to do atleast 10 runs to actually get a good run and defeat it. If you don't find a flamethrower early like Cephal, you can go for an explosion build, like Shredders and Rocket Launchers, which worked for me really well. My weapon build was 3 Shredders, 1 Rocket Launcher and 2 Pruner IVs.
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
Yeah, farmer is deceptively hard! Any high tier weapon you can switch to once you have harvesting online should work. Nice win!

Lucky is good for the screwdriver/wrench build. The engineering does not suffer attack speed reduction and it starts leaving materials on the ground for lucky to pick.
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
True, though I find engineering builds still need to use their actual weapons a lot in the early game

That flame thrower was clutch🔥🔥 I had quite a lot failed runs with the farmer when I tried to build damage ngl - I feel like this is a bait, I just finished my run and I didn't touch enemies anymore after wave 4 and went for a tank/survivability build which worked out like a charm

Never would've thought Farmer was the strongest character but it got me to W33 on D5 (my PB) and I was even messing around with Rocket Launchers at W19 because I didn't think the Farmer's harvesting bonus would go up after W20 by picking up Cacti, but it does. Probably goes down more than up but it slows the descent. What's your highest Wave you've gotten to and with who? Thank you for the guides as always! You're much appreciated.

What other weapons if flamethrowers do not appear?
@stevenape3775 ай бұрын
You can easily do the run with just pruners. The pruner sucks at low levels, but becomes powerful once upgraded to levels 3 and 4. If you survive past round 13 or so and put some points in relevant attack stats, you will have no problems with your damage output.

My version on mobile offers a Potato Thrower at the start. Do you think that would be better to start with over the Pruner?
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
Oh neat! I haven't played mobile so it's interesting what little differences there are. I wouldn't recommend it though - the pruner is needed to generate harvesting, so if you want a different weapon you'd probably want just one of the most powerful weapons (sling, smg, etc) rather than the launcher which really only fits one or two classes and is overall quite a weak weapon, at least outside of endless mode.

Interesting strategy for Farmer. Triangle of Power I feel like is never worth taking, since there are much better ways to build %DMG without having the penalty. I don’t entirely agree with your claim that most economy characters struggle with killing elites, since that’s only partially true. The early elites are definitely rough to complete, but by the 2nd or 3rd event, your economy should be so good that you can get enough damage to kill them. The run in the video definitely was on the lower end of Farmer runs, but it just goes to show how powerful this character is. My most recent Farmer run had about 3500 harvesting, I had 6 pruners dealing about 350 damage each, and I had 4 Spicy Sauces, so all my consumables dealt about 1500 damage each. Killed the bosses in seconds.
@Cephalopocalypse Жыл бұрын
Sure, when you snowball ahead you can definitely burst down elites, especially in later waves! The claim is just more generally that you are more likely to have to leave an elite alive on economy-focused classes, where damage-focused ones are much more likely to have killed all of them by the end of the run.

Can you show us a run where you don’t lean into the character’s economy gimmick? In several videos you’ve said it would be “fairly easy” to play characters with -50% materials drop as normal characters with bad shops, ie not investing into the character’s eco. I’m just wondering how’d that actually go because it seems terrible
