Every video I watch suggests a cross-hatch pattern when applying a coating. And here, Mr. Rinsless, I mean, Ivan, is suggesting using circles. It does make sense since there is no stop or start points. Trim your edges, then apply in circles. The things I learn.

Others suggest cross hatching because they suspect it gives better coverage. In reality our grandfathers applying wax had it right.

Nice to see a that your coating is suitable for all hard surfaces, it is such a pain to need to reach for a different coatings/protection for each exterior surface. Im curios if the expected protection is a similar 3+/- years for all surfaces, particularly glass and plastics?

@diydetailofficial

You should, as a rule of thumb, wait a week before washing the car. At that time you’re good to apply Ceramic Gloss as a drying aid or topper! For the initial cure, the vehicle can be exposed to the elements after 1 hour

I have a question. My apartment parking garage is dusty as in after washing, 4-5 hours later a light film of dust can be seen on the front windshield, rear glass, hood and roof. Because of that I plan to have my car polished by a third party (tell them not to put any wax or coatings), drive home, wash, dry, use panel prep and ceramic coat. My question is, 1) Is this a viable approach? 2) Can I and should I apply diy detail ceramic coating in my apartment parking despite it being dusty? (As dust will quickly settle on the car)

Ok Ivan I have a 1999 Prevost liberty XL that I am thinking of doing it. The buses paint has taken a beating over the summer from bad washes with many brush marks in the paint which drive me crazy. Question one once I polish out all the scratches Will this coating prevent this from happening in the future. Question 2. Has any one used this on polished stainless steel. As part of the bus is stainless. It will show any imperfections. I fear ceramic coatings a bit as if it goes bad I hear you are looking a repaint witch is a costly on a bus. Look forward to hearing from you.

@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
Those are great coach’s. First let’s dispel the myth, ceramic coatings can be polished off, no need to repaint. 1 a coating doesn’t prevent scratches, it will aid in reducing them, but won’t prevent them. 2 we have a coating specifically for metal.

Are there polysiloxanes in the coating or just SiO2. Also, What allows me to wash and keep using my expensive plush towels after leveling your coating, as opposed to having to throw out applicators & towels used for other ceramic coatings like Gyeon Mohs or AvalonKing & many othet ceramics?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
It’s Si02 and Polysilazane. We engineered it to not be brittle like glass, it is 9H but retains some flexibility. I’ve never understood why other companies encourage their installers to throw away towels and applicators. With every coating I’ve (Yvan) tested, if soaked in APC while still fresh, the towels are reusable

Hi there, I greatly appreciate how you two are doing an entire series (heck, an entire product) for the DIY’er. Like actually making products. When it comes to the ceramic coating, or I guess coatings in general, does it make a difference if it’s applied in a controlled environment and is allowed to sit longer before levelling, compared to in sun light when levelling needs to happen quicker? Will the product bond better in one environment compared to another? Or is the environment just dictating how fast the solvent evaporates? Thanks guys!

Eddie, like Josh mentioned, durability is very dependent on preparation and how it’s maintained. 3 years though is a good basic target.

Hey Nick, I have more DIY detail bottles on my shelf than yours. Don't be cheap like Yvan, and fill the shelves with DIY products 😂 it will make it look awesome, not only 16 oz bottles next to the gallons also the tools, brushes, IK sprayers, towels and pads i would love to see that background. Please make it happen.
