Great video. If you ceramic coating loses performance you do a complete de-contamination and clean as in the video and regain water beading. How would you know the result is just a cleaned ceramic coating vs a failed coating that needs replaced if the paint causes water to bead?
@diydetailofficial4 ай бұрын
Start with a contact wash. Follow that with Decontamination with DIY Detail Iron Remover with the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel . Next use DIY Detail Water Spot Remover. If that doesn’t restore the performance, than time to consider another coating.?
@DaveLewis-x8c4 ай бұрын
@@diydetailofficial 100% agree. My question is after doing all of that and the beading performance comes back, how can you tell if the coating is restored OR if the coating has failed but because the raw clean paint beads the water very well? Maybe I’m not doing a good job explaining my question but if paint does a good job beading by itself (better than most coatings as Ivan said in the video) how do you know you have restored coating vs failed coating with fresh cleaned paint. Instead of using the various “washing” solutions, does a “cleaner” product provide the same result - and then polish/wax? Thank you,

DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish isn’t a wax, it’s a pure abrasive. Wax is a filler that leaves the surface looking nice temporarily
@vincentpiarulli1686 ай бұрын
@@diydetailofficial let me refine my question about detailing the exterior of a car: after washing the car, one uses a “cleaner” wax to remove the various impurities, etc., on the paint surface. Then, use the polish to bring out the shine, etc. As the last step, use a sealer wax the vehicle to seal in that shine. So the question is, would the soapy cleaning system you utilized at the beginning of the video replace the using cleaner wax to remove the impurities from the paint surface? I hope this is clearer, thank you,
@diydetailofficial6 ай бұрын
We started with DIY Detail All Clean to break down the dirt. Following that is a contact wash to remove all dirt and traffic film, using DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash. Next important step is decontamination using the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel and DIY Detail Iron Remover . This replaces the old style cleaner wax, which used abrasives to do the job. Next you polish with The Gold Standard Polishing System to the level of defect removal and gloss you desire. Finally you protect the surface with wax, sealant, or Ceramic Coating.

@@diydetailofficialHey!! Currently applying your 5 year costing after full paint prep. Is it possible to apply the coating in a 55 degree garage? And let it cure for a few days? It may drop down to 45 at night after I turn heater off. Thank you

@@diydetailofficial makes total sense. I was wondering if it was my phone because my iPhone is being replaced and I am currently using a Pixel Fold that is just a spare for me and so wasn't sure if it was my device, the app, my internet, or the video. Thank you and keep up the amazing content and work! Loving learning from you all!

Will the tree sap remover take of dealer stickers? The dealership put a sticker with their name on in on both my wife's and my car and I want them gone.

Can we use the water spot remover as a drying aid? And if we have a DI system, is it even needed?
@diydetailofficial6 ай бұрын
No , it needs to be rinsed.

Such a great channel! Sorry if this question has been asked, but after the iron remover, it looked like you just rinsed with water (not the water spot remover) and then dried with towel before you polished. Is that the correct step before polish or was that just to save time in video? And then after polishing, is the next step to use rinseless and then a panel prep before applying ceramic coating?

Correct
@joelkern385515 күн бұрын
@diydetailofficial is that "correct" to both of these questions: 1) before polishing, but after applying iron remover, should use water spot remover (not just rinse with water) and then dry; 2) after polishing, use rinseless wash and panel prep prior to applying ceramic coating?
@joelkern385515 күн бұрын
One other irrelevant question. I was trying to find a video on your channel for best results for dealing with rock chips that go to the metal. Do you have a vid for that?
So I use the red one as the final, but then how do I decide to use the wool pad or the yellow one for the 1st step?

I was writing a post and all of a sudden it went to another video lol. I've used it on tar and also tape marks that wouldn't come out from the dealership. The tape marks were like someone gorilla glued them on. Was out of goo gone and other similar items and just though why not? Took it all off with no real effort or anything. If this is a duplicate post, just delete one lol. It wasn't intentional. The Tree Sap Remover does a ton of stuff. I wouldn't go inside the car with it, but because this keeps swithchning to another video, I don't know if you mentioned that. Maybe I clicked a key or something by mistake.

@@diydetailofficial I can respect that. Definitely makes you stand out. I appreciate your videos, especially that you’re honest about non professionals not needing to buy a super expensive polisher and all these expensive addons for every single type of application, it can be done affordably. I’m sick of all these other channels telling you that you need to buy 17 of their $25 products do a single stage paint correction/polish.

The less you polish, the longer the paint will last.
