Might want to watch some detailing videos on prepping for ceramic or pay someone to do it proper. Please warn your viewers that you don't really know how to prep so that people don't follow this as a guide 1) Don't use soap that has wax in it 2) Tape off trim/lights before starting to polish, use smaller polishing pads for bumpers and smaller areas 3) Touch-up paint would do wonders 4) Polishing, too much polish and it was buffing instead of any actual correction with compounding probably needed prior 4) After polish, you're supposed to use IPA (alcohol wipe) to remove polishing oil residue 5) You're supposed to use the thinner micro-suede cloths for application, not the microfiber towel (that's used for levelling/buffing)

The Dawn soap was all you needed for a soap, for both touch-less and touch washing, using anything with a wax or Si02 completely negates the reason for even using the Dawn soap in the 1st place :/. This is how I do a prep on a car. 1~ Foam down the car with Dawn, I use Dawn Platinum, it super strong, strong enough that if there is any dirt/dust the foam will change color. 2~ Again using dawn, do another wash with a micro fiber mitt etc. 3~ Foam the car again and use a clay bar or mitt, I use 1 from Griot's. This'll get things that normal washing can't pickup. 4~ Spray down the whole car with Iron-X, this removes small bits of metal stuck in the clear coat etc. 5~ Thoroughly Rinse the Whole car down, after using Iron-X and waiting between 2-5 mins your need to rinse if off completely, I would even spray off the engine area and under the car, cause if the Iron-X finds rust it'll literally clean it till its not there lol. 6~ If needed do a polish over the entire car, not an all in one polish, just a finishing polish, something to remove light scratches and swirl marks. 7~ Wipe the whole car with an IPA *Rubbing Alcohol* This ensures that any left over residue from soap etc isn't present when you apply the ceramic coat. 8~ Now you can apply the ceramic coat, do one panel at a time and follow the instructions that come with the packaging, you can apply this in direct sun light, just not mid day etc, mornings are the best time to apply a ceramic coat unless you can do it in your garage :D. There's my 2 cents worth :P.

Don't forget to do the plastic baggie test after claying to insure you got all the fall out off. Other than that, you have a good process for a very clean car! I use the Iron X too, but instead of Rubbing Alcohol, I use Eraser....good stuff!

Ceramic is no doubt a FANTASTIC investment for any vehicle you want to take care of the paint on. Not ridiculously expensive, provides protection exponentially longer than conventional wax, and if you scratch the paint by against, it will scratch the ceramic and not the actual clear coat (depending on depth of scratch).

This was so hard to watch, from knowing exactly how to do this right. If you really want results use a real da polisher or rotary for first cut then da to polish then ipa to wipedown then ceramic coating. You basically got compound or polish u used everywhere and didn't get much swirls or scratches out. I'd recommend a real shop to do this for you and not show people how u did it. Just my .2 cents as this coating stuff is getting a bad wrap now a days and with all this f11 crap out now.

I don't know whether that is water stain or solution stains...more than paint it's the mirrors and fiber needs to be pampered.. mirrors easily catches water scales so does the fiber too but it gets damaged by scorching sunlight and gets turn into white. 16:52 those black wheels with silver lipping Color will be more badazz!!loved it.

I just put Armor Shield on my new Tahoe. The shine is amazing! It is super easy to apply and one little tiny bottle was enough for one coat, though I did apply a second coat. Here are a few tips. The kit includes 3 small thin squares of “eyeglass cleaner” cloth that you wrap around the sponge to apply the product. The black micro fiber cloth in the kit is for buffing off the Armor Shield, not for applying it. You are also supposed to wipe the entire vehicle with isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining contaminants and wax or cleaner before applying Armor Shield. This is all explained in the instructions that come in the kit. All the work is in the prep. Be sure to apply to small sections, perhaps 2’x2’, allow to flash (glaze over), then buff off the haze with the microfiber towel. Depending on the temperature, that can be as soon as 1 minute later. Don’t wait too long or you will play hell getting the haze off. Be sure that you apply it in a well lit area so that you can see any haze that you missed. Trust me, you don’t want to miss removing any of the haze right away. If you don’t notice the haze for a couple of hours or until the next day, you will spend a lot of time rubbing with a wet microfiber trying to remove it. I applied Armor Shield to one vehicle and Turtle Wax Ice spray shine to another. Both looked nice and shiny but the difference is amazing. The Armor Shield finish is like a mirror. After 2 weeks, the difference is even more noticeable. The AS still reflects brightly and sheds water like a duck’s back. I am super pleased with the results. I contacted Armor Shield several times by email. I got quick responses, even on a Sunday evening. Their customer support is outstanding.

After applying this to my car I got some on the edges of the windows. Do you have recommendations to get it off? Also there are slight swirl marks left on my coating where I didn't buff out with the microfiber quick enough after applying it and didn't do a complete job. I was trying to hurry and finish before night time and visibility was low. Any recommendations? I'm freaking out and there are swirls on my car that using a cloth and isopropyl on aren't getting off. they are not under the coating i think they are from the coating and failing to completely microfiber it well enough

Dawn dish soap, let it sit for like five minutes. Wash with water. Repeat the step except wash it with a mitt this time. Than clay bar it. After the clay bar polish it. And than you can use IPA and redo your ceramic.

Yes, you want a clean uncontaminated surface to work on or there’s no point. The clay bar is probably to most important because it gets rid of the paints roughness leaving a very smooth surface

Why is it 'insane' that a freshly treated car beads water? I could drive my car through an auto wash, come home, wipe some carnuba on a panel and it would bead water 'insane'. That's really not much of a test. When it comes to ceramics, let me see it after 3 months. After a dry layer of grime has coated the entire car. After you've washed it 10+ times. Let me see how it holds up. Who gives a shit about how water runs off of it after a fresh coat on a clean car. All of these videos are a letdown.

Your car came out looking pretty good, not sure how long your coating will last, though, due to improper technique. For guys wanting to try this at home please watch some videos of real detailers applying a coating. The polishing technique and equipment used here were absolutely terrible, I cringed watching it. Use a dedicated DA polisher with smaller pads. Most importantly, you need an IPA wipe down after polishing to remove the oils. This guy’s ceramic coating certainly will not last long due to improper bonding with the paint.
