A pray a cure for this happens soon. My dad was diagnosed with this disease in 1982. He was from a family of 8 children and all but 2 of them were diagnosed with this same disease. If I had any advice for anyone who has this, it would be to keep your sense of humor, stay positive, exercise as much as possible. My dad used a floor cycle also used hand weights. I would hold his legs while he done sit ups, etc. He also played video games well into his 60s. Lol. Awesome grandpa! He kept going, moving. It helps so much. God bless.

I've discovered that a Vitamin B1, thiamine, deficiency can cause cerebellar ataxia and just about every other disease. Please look up videos about taking high dose thiamine for this condition and just about everything else. It's absolutely essential for energy protection throughout every body system! High doses must be slowly worked up to to get things working correctly again. I hope this information helps somebody 💙

My dad has Cerebellar Ataxia (diagnosed in 2018) and he's just declining so rapidly. For B1 Thiamine, should I get him tested or something before getting him on the normal dose of it?
@jessedwards2912 Жыл бұрын
@samanthabarker3772 no, testing won't be necessary. Please watch videos by Elliot Overton, or EO Nutrition about high dose thiamine (b1) it's not about a deficiency most of the time, but about taking a high enough dose to flood your system, kick enzymes into gear and help things get working properly again. You start low and slow and increase to a high dose. Elliott has videos about Neuroinflammation too, parkinsons, fibromyalgia etc. You can see what's Happening to the body and how high thiamine can fix it. I'm sorry about your dad. Has he ruled out Lyme, mold exposure and other neurotoxin possibilities?

@@samanthabarker3772 Hello Sam, did you dad try the B1 therapy for his Cerebellar Ataxia? I have cerebellar ataxia and have used benfotiamine, 550mg per day, for a month now and have some success.

I stopped taking aspirin daily 4 years ago to get eye surgery. 3 months later I had a cerebral mini stroke. That went away after I joined the gym but has now Emerged as Ataxia . Working out at the gym seems to keep it bay but if I get Injured it takes over my whole body. Trying to live with this. At least at 75 I will likely be the fittest man in the Cayman Island even if I can’t hit talk or walk some times!😊

I had severe b12 deficiency (below 50 ) I had numbness and tingling along with acute slurred speech which went away in 4-5 days. Is it B12 only which is causing these problems or is it something serious ??

There can be many causes.

what I'll gonna do?I'm having same speech impediment.. but I'm afraid to do further test...how I'll gonna handle the reality? I'm so scared.. and having continues headache.. is this related? which one I'll gonna do?CT BRAIN OR MRI BRAIN?
@ApexbraincentersAvl8 жыл бұрын
Ameeraa - symptoms such as headaches can be very scary, although many causes are not serious in nature. Regarding speech impediment, this can have numerous causes as well. The key is to have appropriate evaluation with both conventional and functional neurologists, who will direct further action/testing. Please call us at 828.708.5274 to discuss further.

I would love to know more about how you helped the dry mouth. I cannot take the dry mouth products at night due to acid reflux.
@ApexbraincentersAvl Жыл бұрын
Primarily, for that piece, it was brainstem neuromodulation. Essentially, electrical and/or vibration stimulation through various cranial nerves to help the brainstem integrate all its outputs more effectively. Feel free to call us at 828.708.5274 to discuss.

My son is ataxic as a result of myopathic opthalmoplagia. The diagnosis is Kearn Sayers Syndrom. He was ok upto eighth year of his life but after that he started falling down when walking. His condition has deteriorated and now he can barely sit in his wheel chair. Is there any way to help him become functional again. He is eighteen now.
@ApexbraincentersAvl7 жыл бұрын
Saadat. So sorry to hear of your son. The only way to tell if function can be restored/improved is through comprehensive neurological evaluation and functional testing. There are many aspects of rehabilitation that can have a positive impact on function in those with ataxia (i.e. eye movements, balance therapy, timing, metabolic functions, etc.). We can discuss further if you like through free consultation at 828.708.5274.

Thanks for you reply. What is the best time to call you and how would the neurological evaluation be made? would it be done through video call?

Donald. No cure as it stands at this time, although many theories as to why it occurs and medication and metabolic therapies being designed to help the body stop 'attacking' itself. APEX Brain Centers I have a neurologist appt in October. Slurring, difficulty swallowing, that kind of thing. I can't whistle anymore and there are several things I can't do with my tongue anymore. I'm amazed to see how different this patient's symptoms were, from start to finish! Although I don't think I have CA, it's heartening to see that some things are treatable/fixable :-)

We work quite a bit with dysphagia/dysphonia due to TBI/stroke, CA, and unknown causes. They'll very likely get you to speech therapist and doing exercises doing exercises like those outlined in this webpage below. Please feel free to contact us at 828.708.5274 for free consult if you'd like to look at prior to Oct. We get folks traveling from all around country to work with these in an intensive manner in our 5-10 day programs as this fellow did. I'm hoping speech therapy will come at the very end. Only after we find out what's causing this issue. The dysphagia is a symptom so I want to avoid treating that ;-)

@ApexbraincentersAvl5 жыл бұрын
Carrie - apologies for delay - we typically don't check KZbin messages as most call the office. We certainly have the ability to diagnose neurological conditions; although our primary emphasis is on function and rehabilitation of functional deficits. If you're looking exclusively for diagnosis, conventional neurologist is your best bet.
