That string-swapping business to avoid having to put fingers between vibrating strings is FANTASTIC. I'm definitely tucking that one into the first-aid kit. (I do try to avoid pedal changes where they aren't needed, though. I figure that guitarists can manage tremolos on the same string, so I'm happy to try to make that as careful as possible before surrendering to a pedal change.)

As a pianist I reorganize notes between the hands all the time. What is important is the flow of the music. I’m surprised: you seem to imply this is not always an common choice for harpists.

Hmm, I think what I was trying to get at is that once you've learned a piece, it can be easy to just do it the same way you always have? And also maybe because fingerings are so important on the harp, I do feel that harpists are not always as individualistic in terms of fingerings choices as are pianist... I dunno!
