That was the main thing I found irritating in this video. Had they shown the shot only once in the final discussion of possible colonization, it would have been fine. As others pointed out, the unmentioned Dawn mission was able to orbit Ceres in 2015, and gave us those first closeup photos, including the fascinating one of that singular ice mountain. Is it an ice volcano, or is it one gigantic pingo? BTW, Ceres figured in 19th century science fiction, too. Look up 1898's "Edison's Conquest of Mars".

I’m honestly shocked that an idea like that was brought up in the video, after the bizarre little introductory sentence they gave… “from its status in the solar system to some unique facts about it…” like, isn’t everything about a dwarf planet going to be UNIQUE? Lol! And not all of the unique facts, just “some” of them, haha. And what’s the ‘status’ of a celestial body?

Honestly I don’t know how this channel still gets the views it does and the subs. Every single video I watch is absolutely littered with inaccurate and blatantly false information, some people say it’s AI generated scripts? But how so? AI has the entire internet at its disposal and would know the facts…. I don’t understand what’s going on here tbh. Maybe someone can explain?

@erikm8372

Well, you’re not wrong, Pluto is a dwarf planet. And there are more of those than there are of any gas giants… that we know of, at least. I.e., we don’t just have eight or nine “main” planets in our solar system. There are more than a few, if you were to count all the dwarf planets and large asteroids, things like Eris, Haumea, Chiron, Chariklo, Vesta, Juno, Pallas, Ceres, etc etc. In reality, we have far more than just the eight everyone knows… It’s only because, when Pluto was found, people placed special meaning on the “top” or “biggest” planets that we knew of. Then when slightly larger dwarf planets than Pluto started to be found, suddenly everyone’s complaining. Pluto didn’t lose its status as a ‘planet’. Are we not a planet because we’re the only one capable of supporting life (in our local area)? Are we that different as to not be a planet? No, and the same for pluto. There are bigger and smaller dwarf planets than that, but they’re all ours, in our solar system… I say they’re ALL planets regardless of whether or not they’re gas giants, inner rocky worlds, or dwarf or proto planets. We don’t have eight or nine or even ten planets in the Milky Way. We actually have hundreds upon hundreds probably, and most are likely Pluto-sized or slightly bigger or smaller. This includes the various moons of gas giants. So really, Pluto fans should take pleasure in knowing that! 👍🏽

The Expense is a hard watch for me. Way too slow, grey and detailed, without showing the environments enough, like in Netflix IO or that recent Alien documentary. At least I remember characters who work at Ceres, having reasonably complains on their long and short term health situation. I wonder in how far scientist have influenced the script around this or not. Maybe your channel can cover this soon? Like, would it be realistically possible, in which timeline and which developments need to be made to prevent certain risks.

It's an idea that makes sense before we even think about moving out of the solar system to places like Alpha Centauri we need to build up the infrastructure of the solar system wether it be mining of the asteroid, Kuiper belt and the Oout Cloud strategically placed space stations around the system, connecting points for the moving of resources mined from the asteroid and kuiper belt along with the Oout Cloud from the outer system in towards processing stations and Earth so that for one we would have the ability to exit the system at any point and not have to wait for the planets to be in the right positions, and two you really wouldn't want to launch any really important mission from Earth, it would make more sense to have a shipyard in orbit of Jupiter or Saturn, which reinforces the need to build up the infrastructure of the solar system.
