Thanks for the leeching tip, mine is too soft right out from the package, does not bother me, just bought a few blocks and i love Cernit, i had to throw all Fimo blocks because it was impossible to work with them (old, crumpy, dry).

No problem, happy to help! Yes, I love Cernit! I think so long as you understand that Cernit often just needs a little love (whether that be warmer it up or leeching it) you will love working with it. I am yet to try FIMO but I bought a few blocks a couple of weeks ago because I am so intrigued by all the comments we get about it!

@@myclayco I think I will start out with replacing all that I run out on with Fimo then with Cernit ... And enjoying ... lol sometimes I hate this stuff, sometimes it's fun and sometimes I'm messing up ... but it's getting better by now.

I wish my local craft stores had a good selection of Cernit. I’m in the US and there’s less than 10 and they are all colored translucent

Oh that’s a shame! Sculpey is great but it’s nice to have other options and the Cernit plain translucent is great. FYI we do ship worldwide in case you wanted to get your hands on some other colours ☺️

Would polymer clay be toxic when we bake it in the oven? Would that give toxic fumes? We use the oven for baking meals would we get affected by toxic fumes?

Polymer clay is non-toxic when baked as directed. If you ever burn polymer clay (hopefully not!) you should clean you oven 😊

Anyone have a tip for making separate small pieces stick together? New to clay so any advice is appreciated 😊
@myclayco
@myclayco Ай бұрын
If both pieces are raw you can press them together gently and they will stick. If you are sticking raw clay to baked clay then you can use a clay adhesive like Sculpey’s clay adhesive or Cernit glue 😊

Thank you for this video! I have a problem with my Cernit clays being so sticky, especially the translucent. I’ve tried leaching it and it stuck to the paper so badly I had to start over. It sticks to tile, the glass work surface, my tools and fingers, and the shapes get distorted if they’re even salvageable. Do you have any experience with and tips for that? I love how it looks SO MUCH when it’s baked, but the losses can be pretty devastating. Running it through the pasta machine can be a bit of a nightmare, too. For reference I’ve been playing with mica powders, alcohol inks, and even the metallic line with the translucent. I recently purchased some Soufflé and Premo and don’t have those problems, but I love the finished Cernit so much it’s hard to fathom parting with it.

Yes, I agree, Cernit has such a lovely finish 💖 How long are you leaching the clay for? You may need to do it for several hours if it’s that sticky 🤔

I want to mix my own colors, which red/ fuchsia blue and yellow would you suggest?
@myclayco
@myclayco 8 ай бұрын
The Cernit number ones in Yellow, Blue and Red are actually really close to actual primary colours so they would be great for colour mixing 😊 We did a video a couple of weeks ago on Colour Theory for polymer clay that you might find helpful 😊
