This video is amazing. I’ve had radiculopathy for over 9 years and am fed up with the GPs pushing me around with neck exercises. As of today, am waiting a call from the doc and at least have a X-ray or MRI to see what happened. The pain has increased over the last 3 months and it’s stopping me from normal functioning 😢. I do not want surgery, I’ve looked after spinal cord injury patients. But that’s probably why I am with spine issues now☹️

This video helped bring clarity to what cervical radiculopathy is. Is was assaulted on September 23rd by multiple ppl. I had a black eye and a bump on my forehead. That night I was experiencing severe pain in my left trapezes area. I went to the hospital the next day and did a CAT scan. They said I had a concussion but no fractures. I finally went to see a neurologist and the a physical therapist because my left hand kept going numb. And my lower neck was killing me. The physical therapist told me it’s radiculopathy. He said it was from the assault. I hope therapy helps. I want to avoid neck surgery at all costs. But I feel like nothing else will really get rid of the pain. 😔😔

I was 100% certain I had a rotator cuff problem, having had an accident 15yrs ago riding my bmx bike. Saw the shoulder dr he said everything looked and functions fine. I was shocked when he said it was a cervical problem, sent me to nuerologist, found a large herniated disc C6-C7. They want to do surgery on it, cut out pieces of bone. I've been doing physical therapy for a month now, it's helped alot, but idk about longevity.. I am still losing sensation and motor function. scares the hell out of me. This video was very informative, and reinforcing what I was told from my neurologist and surgeons.

Thank you so much, You explain in such an easy-to-understand way. I fell Sept18. 2022. Ended up having to have surgery to repair torn rotary cuff and torn bicep November 10th. Now my left arm/neck is painful due to overuse, due to not being able to use my right side. Shooting pain in my elbow forearm I realize it is coming from elsewhere. I will do these exercises. It has been extremely painful.

Once again your fantastic videos have fixed a huge problem for me that no one else could. I have severe osteoarthritis in my neck that's been confirmed by an incidental finding in a CT scan, x-rays and have had pain running down from my shoulder into my hand for years. Months of PT did very little. A few weeks ago I watched and studied 2 of your neck videos doing them at least once daily. By correcting muscle imbalances in the front of my neck I've gotten astounding results and continue to improve daily. Thank you so much Dr. David for your brilliance and kind heart that has helped me and so many other people. Also I want to mention through your wonderful KZbin channel how I was able to completely turn around my painful, 14 year old TKR by strengthening my glutes, abs and laying off the quad strengthening. Furthermore, since correcting these muscles imbalances and having the proper strength in areas where I need it I have been able to stave off bilateral great toe fusions. I can't wait to sign up for your back wellness program, and once my husband has his other TKR underway sign him up for your knee wellness program.

Hi Maureen. It's not common for a PT to recommend a 30-week care plan for cervical radiculopathy, as typical treatment durations range from 4 to 6 weeks. We don’t know the details of your situation so you may need it. However, given the extended timeframe, seeking a second opinion might provide clarity on your situation. If you're interested, we have a neck pain help playlist that might offer some relief, but it's essential to discuss your concerns further with a healthcare provider. Thank you so much for explaining where and why pain occurs. I'm only 6 months out from L4/L5 Laminectomy and Fusion when my arm started throbbing and my fingers (Thumb to half of my middle finger) have constant pins & needles and my arm and fingers are quite cold. Definitely tipping my head back causes shooting pains and cramps. At least now I have an understanding with what may be going on.

Thank you for the great video. I’ll try to describe my issue concisely. I’ve had a herniated disc at c5-c6 level for almost 2 months. The acute pain has been mostly gone at about week 5-6, but around same time I developed a muscle weakness, especially in the bicep and somewhat in the shoulder. Tricep not affected at all. I know it because I’ve been to the gym a couple of times during this time period and my injured bicep was considerably behind my non injured one. Shoulder also behind, but not as much. I also feel like my entire injured side (right) feels sore and heavy. And in addition, I also developed a small dent in the right trap, which I assume is muscular atrophy. My ortho surgeon said my herniation is relatively small, and I am not a candidate for a surgery, at least for now. He thinks with PT, I should fully recover. I’ve had sciatica and cervical radiculopathy before, but I never developed muscle atrophy and weakness. My biggest fear is that this is permanent or very long term. Do you have any insight about that? Can nerve damage from a relatively small cervical disc herniation be permanent? Any advice would be highly appreciated!

I fell down and started having muscle stiffness in right trap muscle and numbness in last two fingers of right hand for first 2 months i didnt went to hospital i thought it would go away later on pain started to increase more and i visited one doctor he said that i was suffering from trapezius tendonitis and it would go away from 3rd month i started having twitchings all over body but they are not painful they would just come and go and pain wasnt going away so after 6 months from falling down i visited many doctors they all would say it is just muscle stiffness nothing serious with it and it would go away but 1 doctor suggested to go for MRI for cervical spine so i went and i found that i have mild disc bulge in c3-c4 segment, loss of cervical lordosis and multilevel partial disc changes so pain from right hand has spread to left hand as well and i even went to massages for pain relief for almost 5-6 sittings , no other symptoms are there and my vitamin D level, vitamin b12 levels are good and i even went for thyroid blood test it is also good as of now pain almost seems to be gone in both hands but few times my last two fingers go numb after waking up from sleep in both hands and muscle twitchings are still there and they are coming all over body. Can anyone please suggest what should i do now..?

Brilliant!!! Could not agree more that Dr. David is GREAT!!! I came across your videos in an effort to find strengthening exercises for this condition. Without getting into detail, you mention things that only someone who has this condition would recognize....like the ribs being raised to compress nerves. I can feel that one of those ribs is raised. This is warp drive knowledge compared to answers I have gotten from surgeons. I know...I'm preaching to the choir!!!😂 I spoke with Amber at your clinic yesterday. I am an aging bodybuilder with a deep desire to restore myself to the way I was years ago before these problems. Ask Amber to see my picture I sent ....64 years old...a Jurassic bodybuilder.🦖!!!! Now at 69, I still look pretty much the same...but it's not as easy as it used to be. Thank you, Dr. David. You are the BEST!!! Happy Holidays to you and your staff!! I wish you were in the Sacramento, CA area.

For PT do you do anything different if the neck radiculopathy is from facet joint arthropathy? I'm lucky in that the electric zings down my arms and trunk are limited to when I have a bad cough. The pain mgt Dr thinks it's the facet joints causing my problem, especially C-4 and C-5. I've been to neck PT several times (high rhomboid spasm) and remember a lot of the stretches. Thanks for your videos, Dr David! ❤

I had a stroke 5 years ago. I constantly have a continuous and constant pain starting at my head/neck and travels down to my shoulder hand and fingers. It’s all on the right side of my body. The symptoms sound very similar to cervical radiculopathy. Will you please provide treatment techniques that I may use. I live on a Greek island so it’s not a short flight for me. Your advise is greatly appreciated.

Good evening, I just watched your video and been having pain below my shoulder; basically my biceps on both arms but on my left it is just the bicep and the hand. I have no neck or shoulder pain at all. My doctor told me to see a rheumatologist which I will see in a couple of months. I only have this problem when sleeping or leaning to the left on my sofa. I went to the urgent care center and the doctor said I have cervical radiculopathy and suggested physical therapy which I am doing now for the last two weeks but I don't see any inprovement at all. My question to you is seeing a rheumatologist the right way to go or should I see some other specialist instead. Thanks.

Hey Andre! We are so sorry to hear that you are dealing with what seems to be a complex cervical issue, which we can imagine is negatively affecting your quality of life. We can't say for certain if seeing a rheumatologist will provide you with the permanent solution you are looking for as we don't know the extent of your diagnosis but what we do know is that the following exercises, if applied well, have helped people in your position address the root problem that contributed to cervical radiculopathy, check them out here: "Top 6 At Home Treatments To Begin To Naturally Heal Cervical Radiculopathy" kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpyXemSjeNiKf5Ifeature=shared Please keep us updated on your progress! 🙌

Hey there, another common problem that is similar to cervical radiculopathy is a peripheral nerve entrapment. This means the nerve may be getting pinched somewhere in the arm as well. You can try massaging around the elbow to see if you can help it that way. In case it is still cervical radiculopathy, here is a great playlist of videos that may be able to help: “Cervical (Neck) Stenosis Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1mbB6MFKdws1vpjbW_jyXB5y

Hi Jennalaughter! 👋 You are very welcome.🧡 We are so sorry to hear that you have been struggling with bone spurs and arthritis along with compressed cervical nerves.😃 PT, specifically manual physical therapy can be very effective for your situation. In the US, you can find a physical therapist trained similarly to Dr. David at this website: aaompt.org/Main/Public_Resources/Find-A-Fellow/Main/Member_Resources/Find-A-Fellow.aspx?hkey=108c9a56-f793-45e4-b3ed-cefe5d871a94 Dr. David is a fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists. His specialty is orthopedic manual physical therapy, which is the ideal specialty for helping someone avoid surgery, injections, and medications. Traditional physical therapists are best trained to help people right after surgery. We wish you all the best in your recovery! We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!
