On call sucks - I feel for ya. For years (since the DOS days) I loved putting my hardware together and tweaking the heck out of everything in the software for my PCs (both for games and just playing with every different OS I could find) but now I kind of feel like I'm past that and want to just buy a device power it up and play games which is why I use consoles now. I am tired of all the 'layers' - I don't want to deal with choosing every piece of my hw, picking an OS and then tweaking it to play the games I want....what I want now is buy device, plug it in and play games. I also want to be 'Microsoft free'...so Steam set top box - I'm in!

Part of me thinks that Microsoft will launch a native Game Pass app for Steam/SteamOS, and they may showcase that in Lenovo's presentation. Microsoft will naturally want to maintain a presence on PC handhelds, even if those handhelds ditched Windows as an OS, and Game Pass is a great way for them to do that. ('This is an Xbox' springs to mind) I can't imagine Lenovo would invite Valve & Microsoft on stage together to 'compete' and steer people towards different versions of Lenovo's new handheld, as that gives consumers the impression there's a 'right' and 'wrong' choice, and that makes purchasing decisions difficult for potential customers.

1:32:00 the thing is many of these channels have a mix of up front payments and affiliate links So if someone installed honey from below the fold, and then bought a product from something else below the fold, well the channel does not get that affiliate traffic, and they might get upset with the channel because honey replaced the channel's 10% off affiliate link, with the Honey 2.5% off affiliate link. A reasonable (AKA old school good) person would assume that a these services would not overwrite an existing affiliate Edit A modern reasonable person would assume these services would not replace an affiliate link with a worse one.

I feel it’s entirely inappropriate for people to be choosing their operating system. At purchase. I think it should come stock with Linux or Steam OS. They already have an option to be customized or altered/changed manually. Let the user install their own version of something. Not sure how or why windows would be giving out their BUYABLE operating system separately just to sell a handheld. It should be what is default CURRENTLY.

I can not recommend Hogwarts Legacy. If you are sensitive to frame pacing issues, micro stutter etc. It's been a hot mess since launch and they refuse to fix it. I hobestly believe they don't know how, which is sad since everything else seems superb and a true HP fans dream. They are releasing the sequal and honestly I think we can expect similar performance there. Time will tell, but I refuse to buy it when they just dropped the ball on the first one. Almost two years and still requires a ton of tweaking, mods, fg upscaler etc to even remotely play "ok".

I played half life on the Legion Go and felt nauseous, but felt completely fine on the steamdeck oled... and I'm not the type to get motion sickness or anything so take that as you will. Also, it's Ghosts of T-sushi-ma. The /t/ is quick, then you say sushi, then ma. Lol, so I think you tried twice, but once you add that t sound, you'll be golden.

Don't see the point of the Legion Go S. That AMD 6800U may be more powerful than the Steam Decks... but not at 15w it won't be. Pumping 20w to 30w through it to get that extra performance, it will suck that battery dry in no time...

I honestly don't need an upgrade to my Legion Go: I'm just waiting to see if they'll support or at least enable 'upgrading' the current Legion Go to steam os. If that isn't announced (It's unlikely) I'll see if Bazzite could work but I doubt it: Windows 11 is good enough for what I want it and driver optimization doesn't bothers me: Newest game I ever play is Cyberpunk but I just like older games that *can* run for 2-3 hours on battery saving mode

Eh I feel like that's not the same comparison. I haven't used UAC on my pc in over 10 years and I haven't had any issues. As long as you're mildly intelligent it doesn't provide anything necessary except a prompt to insure that what you're trying to run is what you're trying to run

But TYPICALLY pc gamers and average users are not in the same bucket. It's why I heavily encourage learning to build your own pc. Install your own OS. And installing all the necessary software (steam, bench tools, after burner, cpuz, hwmonitor. Ect ect)

An ideal world would be some variation of Game Pass coming to Steam. Since Microsoft seemingly wants to transition to being a Gamepass service provider anyway, even if some form of a Steam Launcher or SteamOS as was allegedly reported a few months ago or whatever they would do coming to Xbox, even though they sell consoles at a loss, if it's another avenue to get somebody who wouldn't have initially purchased an Xbox to begin with, might entice them to purchase it, and might draw them to begin paying for and using the Gamepass app on Steam. They lose out on the 30% they make from selling games through the Xbox store though. But can they reasonably offset that through people picking up Gamepass since they can now use it natively on their preferred platform of Steam? (Which in this hypothetical is now available in some form on Xbox) (Who again would see Xbox as a cheap way to get into PC gaming, or people who already have PC's seeing Series X or Series S as a cheap new travel PC or living room gaming PC, with great price to performance ratio) with a Steam Launcher/SteamOS option on an Xbox? These are things I ponder if they actually go this route. Obviously I would want that, but is it financially viable for Microsoft?

Meh, at 400 - 500 the Legion Go S still won’t be appealing at all for many people. I’ve seen the Z1 Extreme ROG Ally go for as low as £400 on Black Friday brand new in the UK. And the original Legion Go went as low as £480.
