A good protection dog should be able to think for themselves as well. If someone grabbed me from behind put me in a choke hold and I can't give a command I need my dog to recognize a threat and attack. If someone comes up to you playing with a big Doberman next to you they just officially bite themselves in the butt. I wouldn't play fight with someone who had a Crocker Spaniel next to em.
@aproxamillionwasps4745 жыл бұрын
Protection dogs aren’t the dog you take to your fuckin soccer mom play date or let wander around off leash around rowdy strangers. They need strong owners to lead them and who understand the dog.
@lawrencehamilton70214 жыл бұрын

@Ee4yh8rg4 жыл бұрын
@@nd9834 Agree. An adult who does that probably doesn't have all of their faculties and would qualify as a threat. The dogs interventions would then naturally conclude in an immediate release of the master, then a quick call off of the attack is in order if the person is irratic but harmless, which is sometimes the case. Anyone willing to pull such a prank in the presence of such a dog im thinking is not really playing though and it really doesnt matter. Its irresponsible to behave that way and confuse the dog.

The ones in the US tend to be bred bigger for some reason. Dobermans are not supposed to be large dogs though. By the look of that pup, he looks like a standard size Doberman. Probably will get to be around 75 to 80 pounds. It really doesn't make a difference where they are from so much as having a good breeder that knows what they are doing. Dobermans can have a lot of health problems if the breeder is ignoring the details. There is a difference between working and show dogs though. Not that show dogs can't be protection dogs, but the working breeds are bred with those characterics in mind so they will tend to have more aggression.

No, real working dogs usually get the tail docks and ears cropped. It doesn’t affect the balance at all if you look into it.

Short tails don't limit balance, the only reason you'll see this dog slip or hard to run is because of the floor, that's it.

THE WEAPON ARM!! You need to train your dogs to attack the weapon arm. A strong man with high pain threshold, could gut that Doberman while he's chewing on the wrong arm. That baton very well could be a dagger or small sword...or gun!
@joeshooter633 жыл бұрын
@Glosi dove Re-read what you just responded with..."since ALMOST everyone is right handed". SO, you would eliminate the possibility of encountering a left-handed opponent. And it is that way of thinking that makes the difference in survival or not. That first time you and your dog come up against a left-handed adversary that isn't scared of fighting your dog back...both of you might end up dead. NO, it makes sense to train the dog to recognize and attack the weapon arm. That is a technique I learned as a trainer many years ago. A good dog can be trained to recognize a variety of weapon types, and attack the arm or hand holding the weapon...even if switched mid-combat. And if there is no weapon, the dog can be trained to attack each arm as if they are weapons... as they are being used to punch, swing at or grab the dog. It is these training dynamics that make the difference in the quality of PPD.

@rearaynor62534 жыл бұрын
This type of training is very safe, those dogs are trained to protect there owners. Ive trained with method before and i couldn't recommended more. Its a great workout for the dog and its protection for you or your family. That dog will not bite unless its told and if it does then it wasn't trained right but from what i can see that dog in the video is very trained and at only 8 months old, hes still in his puppy phase and its very hard to train a puppy like this. Before that dog gets into the 'attacking' part of the training, he's gonna learn basic obedience first. In conclusion, it's a very safe and effective way of training, i rest my case and thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I agree. I have a wonderful Doberman who I consider my best friend. He is a *spectacular* deterrent, but I always feel it's our responsibility to protect our pet family. I don't want him putting his life at risk for me although I feel he would (because he has before when "mom"(me) was out feeding the horses and ran into some wild/angry hogs)... I just think it's best, whether a dog is protection trained or not, to carry concealed...Almost always the safest option. 👍
