One clap, two claps, three claps, forty? By clapping more or less, I can signal that your presentation about this boat really stands out. I was skeptical about the 437 Paddleski, but you convinced me. I am thankful to you, and Sea Eagle must also be thankful to you.

I've had my PaddleSki 437ps for a couple of months now. I'm running a 6hp Tohatsu. Coming from the original PaddleSki, this thing is amazing. With both my wife and I together we can cruise at around 13 to 14 mph at wide open throttle. I haven't tried it yet with just me. The PaddleSki planes easily and is very stable. Performed well this past weekend in about a one foot chop. We use it for camping and love the portability since we tow our camper and need to be able to carry our boat in the bed of the truck. Takes us about 15 minutes to set it up. The transom is the hardest part, but it works a little easier for me if I put the transom on before pumping it up. Thanks for your review! And yes, this will never replace my Hobie kayak.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching BK Cash! As far as the transom is concerned, you can leave that on permanently. That is what I do and it rolls down to a pretty small package for storage in my garage, or loading into my pick up truck. Of course, if you need to break it down to the original folding size, then you need to takeoff the transom. Glad you like the new design!
@n8goulet
@n8goulet 3 жыл бұрын
@@KayakCliff Agreed. It's way too much trouble to take the transom off each time, unless it's going on a significant journey or long term storage.

Welcome to the Paddleski club BK Cash! I've been a fan a long time. I now have three Paddleski's, including the new 437ps. My original I've had about 10 years. It has been used roughly 500 times, deflated 99% of the time, used at more than 125 different locations, and has never been patches. I've taken it up and down the east coast a couple times and used it in most of the states. Eventual plans for a long road trip out west. The past year or so we've explorered upper state NY with it, taken it on Lake Ontario, visited a castle on the Canadian border, etc. So many incredible adventures you can have with a boat like this, all out of a small car. I paddle as a kayak, motor and sail my Paddleski's. I'll have to try it as a SUP, something I couldn't do on the old model, but I have an inflatable SUP anyway, and a total of 7 Sea Eagles. I believe the Paddleski is the world's greatest boat. There's nothing else really like it, and certainly nothing more fun on the water, or as portable. Be sure to join our FB group, "Sea Eagle Kayak, SUP Owners Group". You'll find lots of photos, video clips, reviews, helpful tips and discussions. Paddleski Fanatic...Nate.

@@KayakCliff will is still fit in the case with the transom left on?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
To fit in the case you will need to remove the transom. I keep my transom on and simply roll the boat up, then strap the roll closed with a tight kayak tie down strap. This way, when I go out next time, I don’t have to re-install the transom. This is what works best for me and my vehicle / storage requirements. Others I know need to remove the transom because they are loading the boat into a smaller sedan trunk. You have to find out what works best for you, rolling up is a great option and it stores nice and small, considering it inflates into a big boat!

Thanks Cliff for a great video and overview of the Paddleski. I liked what I saw so much that I just ordered mine today! Really excited to get it in the water. I live along the Mississippi River in the Iowa/Illinois area, and think this will be a great way to get to backwater shallows where the fish are. One thing I’d really like to see more of, is how well the Paddleski handles in rougher conditions.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher! Congratulations on your new PaddleSki, you are going to LOVE it! I have had some other requests on doing rough water videos for the paddleski as well as other Sea Eagle kayaks. I can tell you that the PaddleSki does very well in rough water. I don’t go fast in those conditions, instead I just run at idle speed up to 1/3 throttle on my 5HP. What I really like about the construction of the boat is how all water drains out the back of the boat, so there is no worry about swamping the boat. @@KayakCliff Thank you, sir. The beauty of nature is insane here, indeed. 4HP Honda is waiting already for the ice to melt down and go fishing. Yeah, I am getting itchy to ride it. Also, I have Hobie kayak sail to install - this is another crazy project. As I mentioned, I want to get the maximum of the boat's capacities. Hopefully, I do without the leeboard installed on side of it. The rudder is big enough to prevent boats from turning over. In general terms, I am happy with the boat and current setup. I love this video great information. I’ve been researching several boats and kayaks and so far this looks to be my best option. I almost bought a gheenoe about a month ago which would have been a good boat but then I would have to store it etc and it wouldn’t be a versatile as this With this I can do everything that I can do with a gheenoe and much more for about a 10-20th of the price and wouldn’t have to worry about storage etc.

Well done video. I ordered my PaddleSki yesterday and I'm going with a e-Propulsion electric motor. They are a little pricey but over time I think the lack of need for gas will offset the cost plus they are ultra-quiet. I'm a biker also just getting into gravel trail riding. I might also add that I got the e-Propulsion motor to use with my big, fat and heavy Achilles Hypalon dinghy, but this time around I'm likely going with a Bixpy motor and battery that is half the price, a quarter of the size and weight, will motivate an inflatable kayak/cat to go just as fast, and is made in 'Murica.

@@KayakCliff Hey Cliff I did watch many of your other vids as well, excellent stuff. I could really use your advise on choosing a boat. I know these two boats are different but both could work for me. It's between the Explorer 380x with a trolling motor or Paddleski 437ps with a 3.5 hp outboard. I need something that is easy to inflate and go. I enjoy paddling so the 380 could work and it's cheaper. The Paddleski could get me going further and I love the boat but not sure if it would feel too big to paddle. I really like both and don't know which one to pick. Will be using the boat on a large lake /estuary. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi 👋 there Julian, Great questions! The big question you need to answer is, “Do you want to paddle more, or motor more?”. If motoring is the answer, how far do you want to motor? Now, the PaddleSki is not the boat to have if you think you want to paddle more. The PaddleSki is great if you use the motor to your advantage, then paddle WITH the wind & currents, not against them. Both are easy to inflate. It sounds from your email above that paddling is important to you, like it is for me. I think the Explorer 380X will probably meet your needs more since it is 11 inches narrower, faster to set up, with less accessories needed. Easier to paddle too! If you put the trolling motor mount on the Explorer, a 50lb thrust motor with a quality deep cycle or even Lithium battery, will keep you going all day. I would only recommend the PaddleSki to someone that wanted to go faster, farther and motoring was important to them, while having the ability to paddle when conditions were right. I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if I can answer any more questions!

@@KayakCliff Sorry for the late reply it's been a very busy few days.Thank you for all the info Cliff. It was tempting to go with the Paddleski because it's such a big body of water but I agree that the Explorer 380 will be the right choice for me. I do have a few more questions. On their website they recommend max 34 electric thrust and 15 pounds as that's what the bow mount and handle. Was thinking the Minn Kota Endura 30 lbs thrust might work well? Yes will definitely go with lithium battery but which size 12 v 30 ah or 12v 60 ah? I will need a battery box correct? I think will go with their small sail for windy days to gain distance, good idea? Final question is would you recommend kayaking relatively close to shore or would it be safe to go out far? Thanks again Cliff!
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Julian - I would venture further away from shore with the Explorer, it’s 3 air chambers definitely give you a healthy margin of safety on top of the fact that it is a very durable boat. I would definitely stay within the 34lbs. thrust / 15lbs weight as the boat would list too much to the side with something heavier mounted on the side of the boat. I don’t have a lot of experience with batteries and trolling motors, but I would go with the higher amp hours like the 12v 60ah. The sail is a great option and is intended for downwind only, you won’t be able to tack into the wind with it at all. I hope this helps Julian, let me know if there is anything else I can answer. Have a great weekend!

You can actually get a sup/kayak paddle, its really cool you take off one if the paddles and a handle snaps in making it a sup paddle no carrying and extra paddle just the small handle piece. This might be my next Sea Eagle looks great for those times I have a friend to go fishing with. I currently have a Sea Eagle 385fta which I love it's a great one person fishing kayak but with two people not so much. It's great for cruising with two but not fishing.

I have several Sea Eagle boats, but it seems they always cheap out on the Scotty mounts and no skid plates on the bottom pontoons. You can glue them on yourself but you shouldn't have to for the price their charging. On the flip side this was a great video you put together, good job!

So I do have one more question! Thanks for your help and patience. Here it is. How long does it take to deflate and put away the boat. Obviously everyone is different, but I’m asking on average how long does it take, plus I’m concerned about drying it and algae or mold.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 3 ай бұрын
Great question! All I do is open all five air valves, then, from the stern of the boat I roll forward, keeping the transom on. As you roll forward it forces all air out of the valves. Looks like a big burrito when you're done. Strap it together to hold it together. Takes me literally about three minutes. When I get home, I re-inflate it with my battery powered pump. Takes like five minutes. Dries out in the sun, then I roll it up and strap it together and store it on a shelf. Super super super easy.

Congratulations, your going to love it, and bought the best boat in the world. You've probably noticed my many online Paddleski posts & a few videos. I've been a huge fan of the Paddleski design for 10 years now. I just got the new 437ps recently, and I believe I posted the very first video on KZbin with one. Love your photography. & reviews. I'd like to hear more about the tripods that were used and cameras. Many people I've spoken to online would like to see a full review and great video footage of the kayak paddling ability of the 437ps. I highly recommend upgrading to the longer AB40 paddles. I have 3 Paddleski's now. If you want to have the most fun on the water possible, I highly recommend buying a full sail rig for it. Check out the many Paddleski sailing videos you'll find online.

From time to time, I anticipate stopping the engine to get a little excercise stand up paddling or kayak paddling. Definitely won’t replace my kayaks, as I will continue to use them in videos as well. Thanks for your kind comments on my video & editing. I use a GoPro Hero 10 and a DJI Magic Air 2 drone. Sometimes I use my Sony RX100 MVII camera as well, but it’s usually just the GoPro. I shoot and edit videos professionally, but find the most gratifying work I do is my KayakCliff stuff. Hey 👋 Jeff @jeffzimmerman8217 Thanks for watching and commenting! For me the 16’ FishSkiff would be larger than what I would want to use, however, if you need the room and are having up to 3 people fishing, the FishSkiff is the right boat for you. I view the PaddleSki as perfect for one person doing some stand up fishing, two could do it, but it would get a little crowded due to the narrowness of the PaddleSki. That narrowness is what makes the PaddleSki so nice to paddle and SUP as well as motoring. If I was going to consistently be fishing with a buddy, I would go with the FastCat 12 (link below) this is the same length as the PaddleSki, however, it is wider and gives more room for two people standing, it will be much more stable too! The FastCat is an awesome option, however, paddling it will be more difficult if that is important to you. @KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Curt - I have had mine out in 1 to 2 foot swells. Most of the time it’s usually because of the wake from other watercraft. Whenever I encounter larger waves, I just throttle it back and don’t go too fast. If you just make your way a little bit slower, the paddle ski seems to do well. Being up on the pontoons tends to give it a little smoother ride than a mono hull boat. This subject might be a good future video for me to do! Let me know if you have any other questions, safe adventuring out there!

PaddleSki remains my favorite inflatable boat for my 5 hp Honda. Sea eagle does make a nice inflatable fast cat. It’s red in color. I’m intrigued by that, but uninflated it is much heavier than a PaddleSki, plus you cannot Kayak paddle it. I love how easy it is to deploy and use. That being said, I just bought a Boston whaler super sport 130. This is a fiberglass boat and the fourth one in my lifetime. I love this boat as well, and you will start seeing it in my channel along with a PaddleSki. The Boston Whaler does not compete with the PaddleSki, they both have their uses. Great videos. Very entertaining while providing lots of information. My wife and I are hooked on your videos, watching all of them. We really like the 437ps but wonder if it would be allowed in some areas. What we are thinking is moving just north of Clearwater and use the Paddleski to zip up and down the coast to the islands and river inlets. In places like the Crystal River with the Three Sisters springs, would they allow the Paddleski in there? With it being 4 feet wide, maybe too big to be around all the kayaks? I imagine we would have to shut off the Honda motor before getting too far in. We are also concerned over running the Honda gas motor or the big electric motor they sell. I couldn't find info about where gas might be banned but electric would be allowed. We do like the range and speed of the gas motor, especially for getting out to the islands. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to more videos.

Hi 👋 - thank you so much for watching and commenting! I think, as long as you were paddling, and it was not a busy day, you could probably paddle up into the three sisters springs. They definitely would not want a motor operating. I also just got a 70 pound thrust water snake, electric trolling motor for my PaddleSki. I have it hooked up to a full-size lithium battery and I also have 100 watt solar panel if needed. I’m going to be down in the Tampa Bay area the first week of December actually shooting videos and one of the videos will be me motoring up Weeki Wachee river with the electric water snake, trolling motor. Should be a great video! I think the combination of a gas motor and a 70 pound thrust water snake, electric trolling motor would be what you want eventually. Just grab the motor that suits your adventure for the day and go. In theory, and I will be testing this out over the coming months, the water snake with the 100 watt solar panel could propel you indefinitely at about a 3 mph speed, provided there is sun. Full speed it will go 7 mph. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions! PaddleSki Boat / Kayak / SUP - The “Do Everything” boat! Hi 👋 Marcia - If you use the swivel seat package, your butt is about 6’’ off the floor. It’s a very good seating position for me. I think the 14’’ pontoon diameter on the PaddleSki is very sufficient for the design of the boat. For light chop, you can go about as fast as you want to in comfort. For heavy waves, I slow it down, but think the boat handles whatever you throw at it with great performance. The rougher the water, the slower I go. Light chop, I go all out! Hope this helps! I’m not sure what the Se9 is for reference…..

Been looking for an inexpensive Stand Up Fishing vehicle for 18 months or so. My Feathercraft touring kayak has served me ultra well for two decades. But my Back, Butt & Leg's will be much happier with a 437 or FishSkiff 16. Relocated to Northeast Tennessee so Holston & Watauga lakes @ 7500 acres are like oceans compared to back in Florida. Big & Small River systems as well ----- need that 15mph !!! Cliff i am wondering if you have any experience with the FishSkiff 16 ? Definitely will contact Hawaii Dan since he has used these in Long Island Sound. Video's i have viewed it seems like the 437 might handle 1-2 foot waves better than the FSK16. Thanks 👋 Hunter m! I shot that video on Lake Grapevine, which is in the DFW Metroplex in North Texas. I have not used, or been around the FishSkiff 16. Now that it is improved with all drop stitch technology, it is lighter 92lbs with transom (which you will likely not take off) and it will perform very stiff! I would view the FishSkiff for people that can have someone help them carry the folded boat to the inflate site. Also, it’s great if you will usually be fishing with 2-3 people. You can also stand up with multiple people. The PaddleSki is the better boat if it is just you loading and unloading it from your vehicle. It’s also great if it is just you fishing, while still giving you the ability to stand up. Once you add two people to the PaddleSki, it more than likely becomes a sit down fishing boat. Again, for fishing with just me, I would prefer the PaddleSki. If it’s more than me most of the time, I would choose the FishSkiff. Hope this helps! Hey Derrick - Thanks for watching and commenting! kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKHcepyJq52Jabc I just released this video yesterday of an adventure in Florida. I do quite a bit of kayak paddling and SUP paddling in this video, so it will give you an idea. That being said, because the PaddleSki rests on two pontoons, you will find it moves through the water better than a Jon boat. This is because, there is much less resistance due to the pontoons. When kayak paddling (you need the 8’ kayak paddle from Sea Eagle), the boat tracks straight pretty well. When SUP paddling, you need to switch sides about every two strokes. Definitely not something you want to paddle in large open, rough and windy areas. Best for paddling back in protected areas after you have motored through the rough areas to get there. I would compare the PaddleSki’s paddleability to a large 36’’ wide sit on top fishing kayak. Hope this helps, let me know if I can help anymore!!!

Hey Cliff, thanks for the great review. Quick question on your breakdown, do you remove the transom each time you’re done with it, or do you keep it on? I know that with leaving it on, it adds quiet a bit of weight and size, since you can’t fold it in and roll it up. Just wondering how you handle it. Thank you

Hi 👋 there Road Notes RV - thank you so much for watching and your comments! I always leave the transom on the PaddleSki permanently. When I am finished, I start at the back and roll towards the bow, pushing all of the air out of the open air valves and closing them as I pass them. Sometimes I just use my power air pump to suck all of the air out of the pontoons then close them. I’m able to get a very tight roll, then I strap the roll together with a kayak strap. It’s easy to pick up and stores pretty compactly. That’s what works best for me and my situation. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Smoken Joe, great suggestion! I don’t know if that would be possible to oar or row with Scotty mounts. Scotty actually has “oar locks” for their mounts. Not sure how it works with adhesive mounts, but they are pretty durable and I would imagine they would be OK. I only disconnect the hose from the engine, I keep it connected to the external gas tank. I then let the engine run the gas out of the fuel lines inside the engine. Of course, you could do this, while you are flushing out the engine with fresh water. It’ll run for probably 5 to 10 minutes before the fuel empties out.

Great question, thanks for asking! In Texas, if it has any type of motor on it, you will need to register it with the Texas Department Parks of wildlife office. No need for insurance, unless you want to buy liability insurance on it in case you crash into somebody or hurt somebody. Don't think that will happen though! I grew up in fiberglass boats, so I made sure that they never touched rocks or oyster beds. I know people in plastic kayaks, don't care, but I would just stay away from them. Hi there! I can pretty much guarantee it is on your hull, of course, mistakes can be made in manufacturing and it was omitted by accident. The newer PaddleSki that came out last year (437PS) is a big improvement in my mind as it is wider, has a rigid drop stitch floor and accepts up to 6 HP. This is only a boat that you want to paddle if the wind, waves and current is in your favor. I like to motor to the cool spots, then cut the engine and kayak paddle or SUP paddle. Hi 👋 Ninja-Tuna: Nate Goulet in the Facebook group - “Sea Eagle kayak owners group” has several PaddleSki boats. Nate is exclusively in a sedan, and he puts one paddleski in his trunk. No problem. if you have a hitch receiver on the back of your vehicle, you can get motor mounts for out the back of your vehicle as well. bit.ly/33PbnFH You are correct, it is absolutely crazy how small the footprint is to take a boat,motor, seat out for the day!

Can you take this down Class 2 rivers?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Gil - I’m using the definition of Class 2 rivers for this discussion. Class II Whitewater Novice. Straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels which are evident without scouting. Occasional maneuvering may be required, but rocks and medium-sized waves are easily missed. I don’t think you will have any problem at all. Any water that might come over the bow will easily drain out the back underneath some channels that run underneath the transom. What I would be careful of would be the engine. If you bump into rocks, you would want to make sure the engine is up and out of the way. I’m assuming you are asking because you would like to be able to handle class 2 when needed, then motor over larger calm areas? Otherwise, if you are just paddling, you would probably find the Explorer line of kayaks from Sea Eagle great for whitewater paddling. Here is a link for the explorer line if paddling is all you are after: Explorer: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&merchant_id=b17adfb1-22f8-4d8e-8fc9-cd8d332fb595&website_id=1eefcf3c-ec45-4710-b3f3-8d35d8aabf98&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.seaeagle.com%2FExplorerKayaks%2F380x

Thanks Kayak Cliff, Trying to decide between the Sea Eagle 437 and the Fasttrack 385. Retired and want to take the boat with us on camping and road trips. I would spec either boat with the Watersnake 34APS electric motor (100 option on 385 over smaller motor). Plan on flat water and easier rivers. Love the option of the gas motor for larger bodies of water. Probably would not paddle very much. Your thoughts?

@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gil, with the gas engine you will cover a lot more ground at a higher rate of speed. Up to 16 mph. You will have no limit to your range, a 3 gallon tank of gas could take you at least 60 miles. Electric is a great option as well, I know several people that use a Torquedo on their PaddleSki‘s. They say they get up to 7 mph and only an hour of range on $1000 battery. You can get extra batteries for more range….. if you couple the Torquedo with a solar charging panel in the bow of the boat. You should be able to go at about 3 mph maximum speed indefinitely, provided it is a sunny day. I love the wide range of capabilities that the paddle ski offers.

Love your channel! I had my eye on this boat but was concerned about gas or oil leaking out of the motor when laying it down in the trunk of my car. Did you experience any of that? I really appreciated the demo of the wheels! Thanks for your expertise.

Hi Maria - I prefer to run my Honda 5HP off a 3 gallon external tank. I like it this way, because when I get back to my car at the launch site, I just unhook the gas line from my tank to the engine and let it run for about 2-3 minutes till all the gas gets burned off in the engine. You don’t want to lay the engine down on it’s side because oil will leak out of the engine. You want to transport it in the upright position like it’s mounted to the boat. Here is a really cool hitch carrier where you can carry your motor behind your vehicle like you would bikes on a bike rack. www.ebay.com/itm/293576067631 You can also make out of 2x12 lumber a small little rack for your hatchback or trunk where you clamp the engine in the upright position for transport. I’m going to make one of these and perhaps I will make a video on it! Let me know if you have any other questions and have a great week!

Great video. How well does this boat paddle and track? I know it won't be fast but is it a real struggle or you can move along pretty well? Thanks

Hi Mike - I think it tracks better when kayak paddling. I think it performs better with the motor up when paddling in the seated position. My preference is to motor against the wind or currents, then choose a cool location to paddle, while the wind or currents are at my back. Same thing with stand up paddling. When SUP paddling, you are going to only get about 2 stokes per side before needing to paddle the other side to straighten the boat. All in all, I think it does great for what it is. A 48’’ wide boat that paddles and SUP’s well too! I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions and safe adventuring!

I own a sea eagle explorer this guy makes it sound hunky dory its not trust me it is such a pain to deflate and inflate and roll it up to pack it. Heavy man day in and day out🙈
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I cannot relate to your comments whatsoever. Super, Super easy to inflate, if you invest in the battery operated pump. To deflate, all I do is pull the valves and roll from the back towards the valves. Rolls up as tight as can be for a boat that size. Whether it is a PaddleSki or the explorer. The alternative is a one piece hard shell kayak of similar size. Transport and storage is a cinch compared to a hard shell. I’ll take inflatables any day. Day in and day out!

I've got the 380x. I'm inflated and into the water in ten minutes with the hand pump. I'm deflated, folded, and into the car in about the same.

@solarjinx 👍 Hand pumping is great, I do that when I am traveling (by air) and can’t bring the battery pump. It’s nice to have that option and really nice that it’s not too taxing on the body before even getting out on the water. That being said, I do LOVE the added benefits of not having to pump with the battery pump, especially the bigger boats I have.

The idea of packability is POS you need a truck to haul this boat.

This is what I got from your first 15 seconds of this video. You love to paddle, and you love human power, but you're motoring a lot. So, what is wrong with this picture? Com-on, don't sing one song and dance another!

Well, if you would’ve watched the whole video, you would’ve gotten that I like to explore farther as well. And when the weather and conditions are right, I like to turn off the motor and either stand up paddle or sit down kayak paddle with favorable winds or currents, pushing me along. PaddleSki for me is simply another boat that allows me to travel farther and faster and have a slightly different experience. I have six kayaks that I paddle quite regularly.
