Honestly: more teams = less room to complain about who “deserves” to be there. After the Indiana and SMU loss hearing that other teams should’ve been there instead is so dumb. They won the games they were supposed to and earned their spot. Quit complaining about Alabama or South Carolina, they LOST the games they should’ve won. Extending the playoffs to 14-25 teams gets everyone to stfu about who deserves to be there or not. The winner will deserve it bc they will have won EVERY game they were supposed to and potentially games they were the underdog in. I’m all for more teams ONLY because I want whoever is the best to BE the best. More football games (even if they’re blowouts) IS more fun, and we get to see the best of the best go at it. And if a 9-3 team is the BEST team in college football, we’ll know when it comes to playoffs. No more “weak schedule” crap, they’ll play the best teams when the time comes. Same thing is done with the pros. The Super Bowl winner is RARELY ever undefeated, and if that’s what we expect we’re lying to ourselves. You’re going to have bad games. I want the best team to win. And regardless of if we have more or less teams the best team WILL win. Giving more teams the opportunity to show up won’t deter the best team in college football winning the national championship. Anyone who says otherwise is a joke
@MikeMars-17 күн бұрын
Unfortunately I think they'll always be an argument for whoever is left out. They make it 24 teams...#25,#26-#30, will all cry about who they played, and common opponents margarine of victory. Which conference they're from. Previous playoff results, etc. I feel like the answer is just acceptance, like you were saying. Just at the 12 team spot here. There's always going to be a difference between the top 4 teams and the bottom 12 teams, and the possibilities of any team winning on any given day too. Coaching should carry more weight with these extended days to prepare as well
@jasonfarrell0017 күн бұрын
@@MikeMars-I just feel theres a better argument for the 13th team missing out vs the 26th team missing out. If you can’t make the top 25 teams you DEFINITELY don’t deserve to make playoffs. But if you’re top 12 and lose to a no. 1 team and drop to 15 you’re out when you might’ve given the playoffs a good run. More teams, more football, more fun. Even if they’re blowouts imo lol but yea like you said acceptance is the clear way out of the complaining, but I don’t see that being a common thing in the years to come lol

All of this is based on the idea that everyone wants the same thing. Fans want a playoff that leads to the bests teams on the field… the 12 team expansion was always about revenue for the networks! For the most part in a 12 team playoff, we’ll keep seeing the big schools getting in there. Every now and then you’ll see a cinderella make a run, but by and large, it’ll be the larger schools in the final four! It’s a LOT harder to put together 22 starters on offense and defense in football that can get you there (along with all the depth needed along the way) than it is to put together 5 starters plus depth in basketball for a Cinderella to make a run. All that being said, I’m not against the 12 team… but it should be the BEST 12 CFP ranked teams regardless of conference… top 4 get a bye week… next 4 host a home game vs. the last 4… and then we move to bowl games to work towards crowning a national champion! Not sure why people are against this… it makes the most sense!

The playoffs should be an extension of the regular season. This is why every D1 school in a conference should have a seat at the table. Games should be played at home stadiums of the higher ranked school until you reach the semifinals or finals. At most 16 schools, best would be 8 schools. No byes, seeding should be regional whether north vs south or east vs west that could change year to year, with no more than 2 schools from any conference using the championship game as a play in first round game. Champions advanced and a school that didn't make the game gets a shoot at the playoffs as an at large if the SOS is good enough. This can be done by using coefficients from conference strength to rank schools. SOS is based on non-conference W/L factoring in the coefficient based on strength of conference. Coefficients would be based on a decade average W/L of schools vs non-conference. Non-conference is D1 vs D1 games not playing cupcakes from lower divisions as your bounce is based on the W/L of the school you play in the previous year. A system similar to this is used in soccer to judge the best leagues in the world that only play each other in confederations championships.

Blowouts are indicative of a far superior team, it’s indicative of one team having everything go their way and the other have everything go the other way. SmU should’ve been up 14-0 but instead their qb misses easy plays and they are down 28-0. What this weekend showed was how important home field is !

Couldn’t disagree more. In the future we will learn that putting in teams like SMU, Boise etc is not a good idea and it will be 12 teams that actually compete. Clemson put up a good fight and home playoff games are insnae

Using Cincinnati as an example of opportunity is wrong. They were the first warning of the problems we see right now, but magnified. There is NO WORLD where Cincinnati had a prayer against the big teams, its a waste of a game, and potentially getting these kids injured. This madness of pretending wins outside a select few teams mattering is killing this sport. maybe half the big 10 and about half the SEC and a few other select teams are so far above and beyond the majority of teams in NCAA football its absurd! Something like the english tiered leagues could work, because we all know not all teams are created equally, and need to be able to face teams of similar level.

I get blowouts are not great for non fans of the team doing the blowout but it’s spectacular for the fans of that team. Smacking down Tennessee was awesome. I’m sure the “die hard” fans you are talking about college football is built around feel the same way. ND fans loved beating up on Indiana as well.

Yes we needed to expand it. There is over 140 teams, inviting 4 is the dumbest shit ever. More teams need to be considered. At least 12 will weed out teams and the final 4 standing will actually be legit instead of just inviting them based off brand. People are forgetting 7/10 championship games were blowouts. It’s gonna happen

Don’t go to a 16 team playoff… It will allow more weak teams in like it was the 1st round…

12 teams is too many. 8 is too many, but the best option. 14 or 16 would suck.

Like you. jD but your record in college is not what you are. Strength of schedule has to matter. We need the best 12 teams. I don’t think the best 4 teams will change but we want the best 12 teams.

There's not a chance in the world that Georgia scores 31 on this defense with a backup qb lol.
@samclark337019 күн бұрын
With Rylie Mills out it could happen, especially if Leonard throws a couple picks. Hopefully it doesn’t but Notre Dame just has too many injuries at this point. Gonna be tough to win for them.
@Dscaggs9119 күн бұрын
@samclark3370 they're not going to be able to throw much. If they exclusively run for points, they're not reaching 30.

Georgia vs. TCU in the championship game 65-7, but you're worried about teams getting blown out in the first round?

Can Ohio st go on the road and beat #3Oregon #2Texas and #1Georgia ☆ Who did SMU beat in beastt win Louisville, Who did Boise st beat in the top 30, Arizona st best win was a folded up Byu and Indiana didn't have a top 30 win but may of been the most deserving as the little man great season .

It should’ve never been 12 teams. 6 would’ve been ideal, 8 absolute max but it comes down to money so they went with 12 and it’ll expand even more.
