I will say the newer phone cameras are better at handling different brightness levels in the same frame, otherwise I am very pleased with the dated technology of the Sony.

Hi! How can I use the ring both for manual focus and manual zoom? It seems I can do only one at a time.

The ring can only control one function at a time. You use the button zoom function while setting manual focus with ring. To control both manually you would have to step up to a more expensive camera.

@@cfldriven I find it strange. There is another video called "Sony AX53 vs. Sony AX43. Which One is Better?" and he said the two cameras are identical except for the lack of a rear view-finder and no mention of the manual ring. I ordered the AX43 based on that info and then had to cancel. What were the odds of two review videos both failing to mention it?

@@DaveThompsonfairlife4allIt might be over looked because of how little the adjustment ring is utilized in daily use. In the past year I may have used it three times to adjust scan rate to eliminate LED light strobing.

@@cfldrivenFocus wheels are very useful, at least for me. Tapping on the screen to focus moves the camera too much. I wasn't complaining, I just thought it strange to not mention a feature that tends to be quite popular. Just glad I realised quickly so I could cancel before it was dispatched.

@@DaveThompsonfairlife4allFor me every time I touch the ring there is some movement, so I can only really use it between takes. It certainly nicer to have the button and ring instead of having to dig through the menu. I'm glad you made the discovery and where able to get the camera that works best for your workflow. Its funny I wanted a view finder, but even when outdoors have seldom used it since the LCD monitor is easier to work with.

The AX53 new is $1098 and AX60 used one is $1820 on ebay. If deciding between used cameras the AX60 seems to have better imaging especially at night.

the biggest + of the camera is the picture stabilisation (digital and internal gyro), with an extra microphone you also get great audio. the auto mode is pretty nice, especially if you are a beginner. There are a lot of videos which list pro's and con's. I personaly really like it (it's my first camcorder)

The advantage of the s22 is the latest tech and software, where as the AX53 is frozen in time. Still the AX53 has a very long optical zoom the S22 can't touch. I shot a ton with by S21 and now prefer the AX53 for the flexibility and extra features.
