The cfb media landscape this year has been draining. It doesn’t seem like ppl actually care about the games but care more about their opinions. If that’s the case then let’s just crown the champion of the ap poll

Well said! I think you’re right. I’m 42 years old which means I’m too old to fight on the internet. If I post ANYTHING in a college football group, people end up fighting and I guarantee they don’t even know what they are fighting about after 3 minutes. They just want to make their opinion known and make it be superior.

I'm really tired of the trashing of Indiana. They played the schedule that was dealt to them. They only lost 2 games to CFP teams, both on the road, that are still in the playoff. They lost by less to Ohio State than Tennessee (suck it SEC) and they beat Michigan. So much for how great the SEC teams are this year, huh.

Lmao. Based on how Tennessee performed, why do yall think that Alabama, Ole Miss, SC would have faired better?
@travispapes
@travispapes 7 сағат бұрын
Because SEC fans are delusional. They were screaming up to the clouds after Indiana, SMU and Clemson lost but then when Tennessee gets smoked in the same fashion, they'll change the narrative and say something like "it's not fair they had to go play up north in the cold". If a bad Tennessee is the 3rd best SEC team this year, then the 3-loss teams crying they should be in are even worse. Again, it's all very simple - win your regular season games and you'll be in. You have zero room to cry (for a team like Ole Miss) when you lose some of the games you did. Are Ole Miss and Alabama better than Indiana and SMU - MAYBE! But can flat out say they are better like some of these SEC homers are saying - NO! Ole Miss, Alabama and South Carolina didn't deserve to get in - do you know why? BECAUSE THEY LOST THREE (3) GAMES. Don't lose three (3) games - it's really that simple.

@travispapes
@travispapes 7 сағат бұрын
Right. Sometimes teams just get blown out in the college postseason - it's just the way it's always been. If a 3-loss team whines and complains saying they are "better than Indiana and SMU", all they had to do was not lose 3-games. Period. Based on the regular season, Indiana and SMU did what they had to do to get in - just because they didn't look good in the playoffs doesn't mean "they shouldn't have been in" and a 3-loss SEC team should have replaced them. Just don't lose 3 games in the regular season...

7:04 the problem is - for the exception of last year - the committee can't understand the difference between the most deserving team & the best team. The one time they did the right thing, they got sued. So here we are again, wondering how we got here. Anybody with half a brain could tell you bama, Ole Miss, So Carolina...heck even Miami...would've been better competition than SMU & Indiana for teams like Penn St & Notre Dame. And it's not over yet. There's at least 2 more frauds yet to be exposed.

12 team playoff haters born winning and stay winning. This day was absolutely miserable and you defend this shambolic TV executive product of a postseason. The next round will be two maybe even 3 more blowouts. Deep down you knew this was coming and you know you're wrong but can't admit it. 12 never made sense, 4 was fine but 2 was also almost always a fine way to determine a champion. This isn't about finding the right way to determine a deserving champion, it's about making more money. There just aren't enough truly great teams, mostly 2 or 3 per year.

100%. This isnt the NFL, national championship is about finding the best team in the country through the whole season. To me the moment i was totally out on this playoff format is when Bama lost to Vandy and people were still talking about them like they have a chance. If you lose to Vandy or Northern Illinois in college football your season should end right there, even if its wk 2. This is why this game is so much more exciting than the NFL where the regular season barely matters. For my money they could have crowned Oregon two weeks ago when they beat PSU

I know the world is piling on Cignetti for not backing up all the talk… but I have a point to make that I believe many are overlooking: In an interview with Cignetti early in the season this year, he was asked about his outward confidence and overly arrogant remarks. He said that the second he stepped on campus he sense an overwhelming feeling of doom and gloom throughout the building. This program has the most losses of any program in college football. This program does not know how to feel confident in themselves whatsoever. He said he needed to flip the culture, and make everyone in that building (and the fans on campus who couldn’t have been less-interested in football prior to his arrival btw) *believe* they could compete. Which is why he was calculated in his arrogant comments at his introduction, arrogant in his comments to the media. His confidence from the top spread through the building, the campus, and the fanbase. This teams’ win total was 4.5. They were projected to finish 17th out of 18 big ten teams. Sure their line got out-manned by 2 of the best teams in the country with far more blue chip talent. But boy did they FAR exceed expectations and beat the shit out of teams that nobody thought they would have if we had asked back in August. So yeah you can call him a “fraud” for brining Indiana its best season in school history and deliver a season that crushed every preseason projection imaginable. I know the shit talk put a big target on his back- but I don’t think people realize the calculated nature of the shit talk to attempt to flip the culture and mindset of a battered and bruised football program. The man brought INDIANA football- who was priced to crack out 4.5 wins this year - to the college football playoff. The man developed these kids at JMU and took them from a literal D2 program to the CFP. Imagine when Cignetti got hired last December you found out that the world would be arguing if he was a fraud or not for losing in the first round of the CFP - seems like a solid hire to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Texas has lost twice to georgia, if you believe they are a power that can just walk through the playoffs that’s ridiculous. And honestly imagine a scenario where georgia somehow makes the finals and texas beats them. Winning the championship with a 1-2 record against the team you play would certainly make the conference championships mean less and show the 12 team doesnt work. Quinn ewers also has had the reputation of not showing up in big games. Theres a lot of reasons to doubt texas.

@travispapes
@travispapes Сағат бұрын
Right. It's an extremely lazy thing to do - and pretty sad a lot of "pundits" and "analysts" jump quick to such a take. It's hard to play in another team's home stadium - then you add in the weather aspect. These lazy people just want to automatically assume Bama, Ole Miss or South Carolina would roll into Ohio State/Penn State and just automatically give them a better game - well if they didn't lose three (3) games - especially to much worse/lesser opponents - they would have gotten their chance. SMU and Indiana did their part to make it to the playoff - just because they didn't perform doesn't mean they are automatically "bad" or didn't deserve to be there. If other teams that didn't make it want to cry now, all they had to do was just win more games in the regular season. It's very simple and something 95% of "fans" can't wrap their small brains around.

Two teams that would have gotten smoked today. 2007 season was 10 times better than this season and that was BCS. 2000-2013 takes fat dumps on cfp era. FCS playoffs with 24 teams is a prime example. CFP is wacky. Boring as all get out. No way SMU, Indiana, should have been in the playoffs. Boise is going to get blown out. It’s a mess. The entire structure is a Frankenstein monster. Tennessee was a fraud, Clemson got beat by the Gamecocks. 1st round losers going home who could be playing in a bowl plenty of time. Meanwhile a team like the Gamecocks playing New Years Eve. Gamecocks would have been favored over Clemson, SMU, and Indiana and probably pick against Tennessee.
