I was at the race and got to meet Rich for the first time. He was insanely nice and took the time to chat and take a picture with me though I'm sure he had a million things to do. I did this race in 2018 and knew how hard it was, so to see him go sub 9 was truly impressive! Rich is the GOAT!

From watching Rich in the early days of crossfit in carson as an indie, to teams, become the sports greatest ambassador, building the mayhem empire, a family, a farm, mayhem hunt and now pushing his fitness to accomplish leadville is nothing short of amazing. Honoured to be able to wear the mayhem brand and be a part of this absolute ledgendary group of individuals and athletes. Congrates to Rich and your team; everything you put your heart into is truely inspring. the Mayhem media is hands down the best in the buiz! cherry on top...legendary OG's Matt and Cherie Chan! I was preparing for my first Leadville last summer and found your videos about doing it as well. Gotta be honest, I thought you were nuts trying to go sub 9 as a non-cyclist, but you killed it. Very impressive. There were so many things that could've messed you up. Cycling fitness, mechanicals/flats, the altitude, the nutrition and fueling of an event that long. I have no doubt you could go sub 8 if you dialed in the fueling part and now that you have experience on the course, if you wanted to. I started in the purple corral and you passed me right as we entered the singletrack between pipeline and twin lakes. I was like, oh crap, he just made up X amount of minutes on me already and we're not even 40 miles in. Great job! Will be curious to see if this gave you the bug or you move on to another type of challenge.

Just an amazing athlete!! Loved watching you from the beginning in CrossFit through the years. In my opinion you were a major contributing factor to the growth of CrossFit! The first to win 4 times in a row, dominating the team division of CrossFit, one of the first athletes to create a successful KZbin channel devoted to CrossFit and interacting with the community through the channel. One of the most successful athletes to create a CrossFit empire. One of the major contributors in the CrossFit community to give back through charity. One of the first CrossFit games athletes to hold CrossFit competitions. One of the first CrossFit athletes to have a shoe designed. One of the first CrossFit athletes to grow a hugely successful online CrossFit membership. One of the most successful athletes to start their own coaching arena for athletes both in the US and around the world. On top of bringing Glory to God. I could go on. You are the Goat. Now you are starting a new journey and it is exciting to see that. Thank you for motivating me! Nice to see you and Matt Chan together again! How nice to have all those people in your “pit crew” helping you.

Everything Rich goes through in this race is really how it is. Two time finisher - one race went exactly according to plan, the other I barely squeaked in under the 12 hours. The only trick to Leadville is never stop moving forward. I saw his Whoop was 20.7 and mine was the same - I think you actually have to die to get 2. Recovery the next day was 1%. Rich might have benefited from an ultra high carb drink mix in a camelbak vs hauling all of those gummies and gels around.
