However I did consider cgc until I started hearing horror stories about how bad the slabs where and the grades not to mention high value cards disappearing into thin air and cgc not caring or doing anything about it. So I held back from grading any card with any company. Now I’m very skeptical of grading my cards with anyone. Rather keep them safe with me. With that said eff cgc!!!

I am mixed on it, I liked that blue and the subgrades, but at the same time, the newer design looks pretty sleek, which is more popular with the common crowd. I think if they edited the font a little bit and put the barcode somewhere else (like the back as PSA does), it would look a lot nicer. I thing is that I think they are going for the short-term growth route because everyone wants a 10, not the pesky 9.5. Sure it would devalue 10s in the short term but if people continue to use CGC it might work out for them. All I can say is bold move, let's see how it turns out.

Im so glad I never got into grading my collection of cards. Prefer the raw form of them anyways. I believe no card should be a 10 unless it's absolutely PERFECT. If the centering is 55/45, then it shouldn't be a 10. Once you grade a 10, then every card that follows will be compared/based to that.

CGC finally made ground finding their own lane in the hobby.. being a BGS alternative that also graded very specific errors and had the best slabs among all companies (despite the label).. they stood out well enough. The 9.5->10 thing is absolutely outrageous. All 9.5s are made different. If they’re trying to equate the grade to be closer to a more ‘market friendly’ grade like PSA, it simply won’t be the same definition of a 10. A corner dent would give you a corner deduction on a CGC sub grade.. but it would lower a PSA grade to like a 6.. which is why many people sent cards to CGC that had specific imperfections because they could get a significantly higher grade with CGC. Who knows what the actual hell their 10 means anymore.. cross grading from CGC is now officially dead as well because you can’t see the sub grades as they were. Ridiculous.

Grading is BS a lot anyways. Half the time it just makes no sense. I’ve seen soooooo many misgraded slabs, where it’s blatantly obvious it’s just how whoever is grading is feeling at that moment, and not a uniform grade across the board. “Perfect corners, perfect borders, surfaces perfect…8.5.”, or….. Card is a 8.5 at BEST, and it’s grade a damn 10.

Getting rid of sub-grades (the one thing that differentiated them from PSA) seems like a lost opportunity. I assume CGC graders have to make internal notes of the sub-grades before they can determine the overall grade of a card. So I never understood why CGC charged so much just to print those sub-grades. I prefer PSA but if CGC had made sub-grades standard on every slab and the grading costs were comparable to PSA that might have made me reconsider them because I do like the idea of sub-grades.

True story. I pulled a holo suicune on a charity stream a while back and its being graded by cgc for free. I was excited but had no other cgc graded cards so I decided to buy a couple of other suicunes I had been wanting as 9.5s so they could look nice next to each other on display. I’ve been curious on AGS though, one of my LGS’s deal directly with them so he got me a good price to do a smaller submission so I sent some cards that I knew would get atleast a PSA 8 or 9 so hopefully they grade pretty well! They seemed pretty cool when I chatted with them in my DM’s and the price for 8 cards was way under 100 bucks so couldn’t be mad at that! Next time use MANA Grading. Better slabs, better technology, better flaw highlighter and explanation for exactly how the grade was calculated. But, yes, I have a bazillion AGS slabs too. The "Big 3" are not good. They were just first and who people graded their vintage with when they had few options. Now, there are better options. Mana Flawless is the most surreal slab you will ever see in person. It's like a holographic black label, but ypu require all perfect plus 49/51 or perfect 50/50 centering on all sides to obtain one. 100% of MANA Flawless cards cross grade to BGS black Labels. 40% of BGS Black Labels cross grade to MANA Flawless.

I have five cards I sent off to CGC back in 2021 because I liked their slabs, the fact that they gave sub-grades and the fact that they were cheaper than PSA and had a quicker turnaround time. Four of the five are even 9.5s, fitting for this video haha I hate what they've become, grading obviously stolen cards before a set even comes out, grading fake cards and now completely erasing sub-grades and changing their label design. And now they're ignoring their supposedly strict grading standard just to push their new label even if a card doesn't deserve a 10, what a bunch of crap! I don't have the balls to bust my slabs like you're doing (plus I spent good money to grade those and it just ain't happenin' 😅), but I totally understand why you're doing it. I have used PSA a couple times now. Not bad but I think I'm going to try SGC or Beckett. Most likely SGC. I liked the look of the labels alot too. Blacked out! CGC blue labels looked so cheap. And the sub grades are cool. I'll give CGC that but I don't think I'd ever send them my cards. I'm in FL and they are maybe an hour from me. They couldn't pay me to drive to them and hand them my cards to grade man. No thanks! Yeah, someone could say grading is overrated, over hyped, a scam, whatever 😅 but I like the fact I can keep my card sealed for the long term. I don't plan on selling them or at least anytime soon. Probably because I hated them before but I really love what they did here. Feels like they wanted me to get into CGC grading lmao I always despised .5 gradings, cannot stand them. When the company I used here in Italy switched to them and became stricter, they basically did the exact opposite of what CGC did here, I instantly sold what I had and never touched them again. With what they did here my only complaint is that the label lacks personality but I much prefer this to the off-centered mess of random text, gradients and low-opacity logos it was before. The prestine ten is also great, again, looks a bit meh but the idea is there. My card is a 10 since I cannot see a damn flaw with my naked eye but I know it's not perfect since it's not a gold label. Sure, I can get behind that. Really, feels like they did it for me haha.

Naturally, I tested all grading companies and would cross grade 9.5's for PSA 10's, etc.. you know the drill. My MANA Flawless version sold for exponentially higher than my BGS black labels.This was a while back, but I think I got Almost 4 Grand for my BGS Black Label, $400 for my PSA 10, and $9,000 for my MANA flawless. The kids these days who want to grow up to be like Gary Pokemon might go PSA or BGS... but Wall Street guys? People that aren't nerds...They want the proof and exact measurements that the Dragoneye software and laser precision lays out. . AI grading provides the proof that your card is graded exactly correct. The interface highlights imperfections and explains the grade... Every single MANA Flawless will cross-grade into a BGS Black Label. Only 40% of Black Labels have the centering requirements for a MANA Flawless. There is by far a much superior slab to a black label.. because it is a guaranteed black label if you want to cross grade. I don't recommend trying to turn your black label into a platinum onyx flawless.... only 40% will make the cut.

It’s the dumbest thing I personally think any grading company can do. “Hey sorry our old grading standard was no good we only just did it for years and years. Pay us and we will make it a 10 for you 😂”

It's all about perceived value. Even though CGCs 9.5 is supposed to be equivalent to a PSA 10 (we've all seen bad PSA 10s, PSA 10 isn't Gem necessarily) but to the consumer, a 10 regardless of card look, is better in the mind of a consumer than a 9.5. I see people every day asking why their cards didnt get a PSA 10 and say well, this one had some whitening or not quite centered, and wonder why there's didnt get a 10. I really wish the black label 10 was the equivalent to the other two's Tens. 9 for PSA is Mint, and 10 is Gem Mint. there should be NO question on a PSA 10.

I honestly can't stand grading companies in general. It's great for flippers, don't tell me it's for "protection". BGS, PSA, CGC, Ace, etc, all of them have issues. I'll stick to card savers, binders, and top loaders
