Hi I have the book and want to use it in a disciplined way. I am going to say I am a beginner, though not total beginner as I have been learning MSA for a couple of years. My question, I hope it doesn't sound stupid, is about the method of mastering the broken plurals. I understand the review days for the first 5/10 words but what is the technique for the subsequent words. I assume it is possible to learn more than 5/10 words in the 5 - 6 week period suggested for reviewing new words.

You can put as many words as you like into your daily review list, but keep in mind that the number of words after a few weeks will go up exponentially because you are going to need to review each list at least four to five times over a period of 5-6 weeks, with new lists being added in as the days pass.

I just received the 4th edition of this book 2 days ago and been reading and listening to the list of frequently used broken plurals. I must say I already love the book!

Hi! The arabic text in the book, is it with harakat?
@CGEJordan2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Yes, it comes with full tashkeel -- all harakaat are placed so that you can clearly understand how the words should be pronounced.

Plz answer. I got the book yesterday. I am a beginner. You mentioned studying the broken plurals and the list of 101 verbs after the introduction. Is that page xx? Only the past tense of the verb is here. Where do I find the present tense to learn with the past? Thanks
@CGEJordan6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's it, but you want to go to the table references found next to each verb in order to find the present tense inflection, which will be the same for that verb as is found in the table.

How long will it take someone who studies an hour every day to become fluent? Just an approximate time. Can I become fluent using this book alone? I live in Jordan. So there is no problem with me speaking to others and using what I learned.
@CGEJordan6 жыл бұрын
That is a hard question to answer because it does depend on many factors, including your own study technique, your personal capacity for the language, your Arabic level, etc. If you have a basic level in Arabic and someone to help you by answering particular questions have, then it is fair to say that you can gain fluency just through the 101 Book, as long as you are speaking and using the language. The time factor depends on the factors I mentioned earlier, so I can't give you a time.

I live in Amman and purchased this book and LOVE it however the one thing I wish it had was a list of all the verbs in the book alphabetical by their Arabic spelling. Often times I hear a verb used in the streets and o don’t know what it means. It would be nice to have a resource where I can look it up. Can you begin working in an additional section or possibly an English- Jordanian arabic dictionary?

Lisa Wyse I just bought the book today! How have you benefited from this book? Has it helped you speak better? I live in Irbid plz feel free to contact me. I am a native English speaker living here and am having a difficult time. Maybe we can help each other! Thanks

I was given this book as a gift, and it didn't come with a CD. I think the book was bought second-hand. Can I buy the CD separately? Thanks.

+Henry Michael Thanks for your message. If you know the Arabic alphabet, then The 101 Most Used Verbs in Spoken Arabic book will be very helpful for you, no matter what your level. Can you order books from Amazon in Tanzania? If so, then you should do a search on Amazon.com (USA site) or amazon.co.uk (UK site). If these won't work for you, then try www.jamalon.com . They deliver through Aramex worldwide and the price is good. Here is the exact link for the 101 book on their site: jamalon.com/en/catalog/product/view/id/36498695 Godspeed!

All the 101 verbs are conjugated in the book? They are written also with normal letters or only with arabic letters?
@CGEJordan6 жыл бұрын
The 10 Verb Forms and all the variable sub-forms for those forms are in the book and that covers all verbs used in Spoken Arabic by any Arabic speaker in the Levant. Also, there is no transliteration of Arabic in the book. Readers should know the Arabic alphabet and be able to read Arabic to benefit from the 101 Book. I hope this helps.

I'm trying to follow the notebook method and I have found the conjugation charts but have not found an indication of which form is correct for the verb I am trying to learn.... is it given in the list of the 101 verbs? Or have I misunderstood how it works?
@alexengland-shinemercy6 жыл бұрын
Oh wait I'm sorry, I've just found the relevant explanation in the usage notes.
